14 THE COUNCIL Eight Wise Ones sat at a glass table in a large room in Dayo's palace. Lar looked at them, wondering how often this kind of gathering had been invoked; certainly not since he had become a Wise One. Owailion looked most put out, but then he rarely left his home in the cold north and had little patience for interaction even with his peers. Lar felt it difficult to consider himself an equal with someone who had lived so long ago. Owailion flew with the ancient dragons, founded human magic before mankind had immigrated here. He had spoken with God and taken instructions from Him on how to bring the other Wise Ones into being.
