Episode 8

“The game we are playing is moonlight rush, I’m going to choose four teams to play tonight’s game. Victoria’s team, Mike’s team and Maya’s team, make your way up here, and of course Austin’s team.” Lord Kane said looking at the crowd beneath us. The teams made their way to the stage without hesitating.

“You will be competing against each other. You are expected to race through the woods, feel free to shift between wolf form and human form, and remember your wolves have more speed which we going to need in this race.” Lord Kane Addressed us while we were standing in a line like soldiers going to war.

“Use any tool you find in the woods to help you win. There are no boundaries, fight, distract and evade opponents.

Kill if you have to, I don’t want weak wolves around, I want only the best, and the best I shall find, so do your best to survive in this challenge.” Lord Kane said proud of what he was saying.

I was wondering if this guy kidnapped all of these people only to kill them here, why didn’t he look for the best and leave the weak alone with their families. That doesn’t matter right now I guess cause here we are, and there is nothing we can do about it.

“At the end of the forest, you will find the hidden moonstone idol, the first team to find it will be the winners. The winners will score 10 points which they will use for privileges.” Lord Kane continued giving instructions .

“Now make your way to the front line to start with the game.” He said dismissing us.

We all made our way to the front line, we had four teams of four which we were 16 in total. All teams had two girls and two boys.

In the Arena there were two big screens displaying every part of the forest, I guess that’s where everyone present is going to watch us while running around in the forest.

I looked at everyone some were excited for the game, and some were scared.

“Ready?” That was David’s voice getting us ready for the game.

I shifted into my wolf, and everyone else shifted into their wolves except for Ashly. Ashly haven’t had her first shift yet, so she wasn’t able to shift like us, I saw here looking at everyone around her, she was looking more scared that ever.

Shock and panic ran through my body, Ashly is going to slow us down, she will never be able to run like wolves, she won’t catch up with us and we can’t just leave her by her own as it will be dangerous for her without anyone protecting her.

I was so stressed that I didn’t know what to do, I was still trying to figure out what we are going to do when I saw Gina shifting back to her human form, I hesitated before shifting back into my human form, Ethan also shifted.

“Go.” Is what we heard and immediately we started running, every other team was already inside the forest while we were behind because we couldn’t match their speed. As we entered the forest we started to walk because we were tired.

“I’m so sorry guys.” Ashly said looking down, shame written all over her face.

“It’s okay Ashly, this is not your fault at all.” Gina said with a cheerful smile.

“yeah, we are a team and we should stick together, that’s what’s important right now, we are already winners” Ethan chipped in as well.

I was glad to see them supporting Ashly like this, it only meant our team is solid.

“Stop feeling sorry for yourself sis, this is a treasure hunt, whether we are on our wolf forms or not, we still need to look for the moonstone.” I said trying to make Ashly feel better and it was working, she was getting her confidence back already.

We continued walking and two wolves appeared right in front of us, they had blood on their mouths, we stopped at our tracks.

“I can’t believe Lord Kane set traps for us and he didn’t mention anything about it.” I said getting ready to fight.

“That’s more of his style, always scheming, according to him, we shall never find the moonstone.” Gina said not showing a hint of being scared, I guess she was already used to fighting, she had more experience than we had.

“Right now Ashly is our weak link, whatever you do make sure you protect her first.” Gina continued.

Immediately after that she shifted into her wolf, Ethan and I followed, we charged at them, I went straight to the opponent’s neck, biting it with all the might I had, it cried in pain trying to get away from my grip, Ethan and Gina we busy fighting off the other one.

Two other wolves also joined the fight, my mind was occupied with the fight, I looked back at Ashly and a wolf was ready to attack her. I wanted to rush over to help Ashly out before the wolf attack her and I had pain rushing from my back, another wolf took a bite from my back.

Everything was happening so quick, and the wolf was already at Ashly’s reach, as it flew in the air opening it’s mouth wide to take a bite at Ashly, I stood frozen
