Alison couldn't sleep; she forced herself to sleep, but she could not.
The house was as quiet as a graveyard. She felt the weight of the silence crushing her. Her room was so dusty, it took a while to clean it. She didn't know what to do. She began to wander about the house desperately trying to do anything that'll keep her busy. Every step she took was just reminding her how empty the house felt.
She found herself in the kitchen, scanning through the shelves and cupboards. Dusty cans of food greeted her, mostly expired. She pulled out two that weren't expired. She started to look for a pot.
Nicholas entered the kitchen so quietly she didn't want to hear a sound. She turned around only to see him leaning against a doorframe, startling her. He was gazing at her in a way that a predator looked at their prey before turning to a meal.
“Do you always invade kitchens unannounced?” she asked, trying to mask her discomfort with humor.
“You’re making noise,” he said, ignoring her question.
“I'm sorry, I didn't know”
Nicholas’s expression didn’t change. “If you want to stay alive, you’ll follow my rules. No unnecessary noise. No unnecessary movement. Do you understand me
She stared at him, slowly getting frustrated. “Got it, boss.”
He didn’t respond; he simply walked out of the room. Alison clenched her fists, blaming herself for even apologizing.
Hours later, Alison was done in the kitchen. She was walking to her room when she passed the room Nicholas entered. It was a bit open. She knew she shouldn't but she wondered what he was doing. She found herself walking back to his room.
Nicholas lay on the bed peacefully. ‘He must've been so exhausted; they had such a long journey, and he was busy fighting,’ she thought. She watched him as he began to stir. He seemed to be having a nightmare which made her a little surprised.
She wasn't ready for what happened next, Nicholas suddenly opened his eyes. His gray eyes pierced straight into her hazel eyes. At that moment she felt like a stray bullet had hit her. She could already feel his anger from where she was standing, but for some reason, she was glued to her spot, unable to move.
Before she knew it, he was right in front of her. “I'm sorry,” she said quietly.
He grabbed her arm tightly. “ I don't think you get it here. You are a hostage; I can do to you however I like you, do you understand me?” he said with so much anger, and she nodded in fear.
“You can't talk” He groaned in annoyance.
“I understand,” she winced in pain.
He let go of her arm before storming off to his room.
Alison was left dumbfounded. She was still feeling some pain in her arm. That side of him really terrified her. She wondered how she was going to cope living with him. She needed to control herself. It was her fault after all.
After recovering herself she went straight to her room. She couldn't sleep, she tried but couldn't. She found herself staring thinking about the past events and how her life changed so fast. That was the last thing she remembered before dozing off.

Nicholas watched as Alison stepped into. She could tell she was scared. He didn't like it but he won't say anything. She really did pissed him off last night.
“Good morning” she quietly said.
“There's breakfast on the table” he pointed to the dining table. She walked past him heading to the dining table. He caught a glimpse of a bruise forming where he grabbed her last night. He felt a little guilty about causing that and hated the way she was walking on tiptoe all over him.
He figured it was just for the best.
