The drive to the pack house was a blur of motion and new scenery. They drove out of Apata Yakuba and into a part of the city Amara had never seen, an old, wealthy neighborhood hidden by dense foliage and a high, imposing wall.

They stopped at a large, iron gate that was flanked by two men. They were tall and broad, with the same powerful aura as Kai. Their eyes, a flicker of gold in the early evening light, were trained on Amara, their expressions unreadable.

Kai simply nodded, and the men opened the gate, their movements silent and efficient. They drove through, and Amara’s breath hitched. She had expected a large house, but this was a compound. A sprawling estate with a massive, old building at its center, surrounded by smaller houses and training grounds.

As they parked, dozens of people emerged from the buildings. They were a mix of men, women, and children, all with an air of contained power. They were his pack, his family. And they were all staring at her, their expressions a mix of curiosity, suspicion, and awe.

A tall, handsome man with a serious face and kind eyes stepped forward. This was Tunde, Kai's Beta. He bowed his head respectfully to Kai, then his eyes landed on Amara. She could feel him assessing her, his gaze sharp and calculating.

"Alpha," he said, his voice smooth and deep. He then looked at Amara, and a flicker of something she couldn't quite name—relief?—crossed his face. "The scent is strong on her," he said to Kai. "She is really the one."

Amara stiffened. It was a strange way to be introduced, as a scent, a thing to be confirmed.

"This is my mate, Amara," Kai announced, his voice carrying an authority that made everyone in the compound straighten. "She is now a part of this pack. Her safety is our highest priority."

He took her hand in his, a clear and public display of their bond. Amara looked up at him, and for the first time, she truly understood the immense weight of the mate bond. It was not just a feeling or a connection; it was a public declaration, a pact, a promise.
