CHAPTER 2: THE NEWCOMERS

Mimi Warren     I may have only known Selene for a few minutes, but she delivers. Walking to the warehouse, it was enormous bigger than I would have thought. It was bare except for the few things I could make out in the dark on the floor. I walked over to them and bent down, and there it sat a credit card and the brand new phone. Right next to it I felt magazines. Turning on the flashlight on the phone five I could see that the mags had furniture on the front. It was late in the night so I laid on the cold hard floor and found myself falling asleep with tears in my eyes.     "Hey Mimi, whatcha looking for?" Meri questioned.     "I don't know maybe there's something in this book that can help us get stuff. Plus I don't know where we are." I said in one breath.     Noticing that I was on the verge of a breakdown Meri soothingly stated "Calm down were Alpha's we must be strong. Mimi, you are a bright young lady together. We will figure this out!"     I took a deep breath to clear my mind "Okay, the first things I need to learn how to figure out are to get food, what powers I have, and how to shift." I made a mental list. Opening the manual I noticed it had a table of contents. eyeing my way through the list I saw that the first three were chapters on my questions.     Flipping past the copyright pages to I went to page number one. It was about our powers studying the section I came to understand that unless we reveal our scents to the rest of the supernatural we unlock the rest of our powers. But for now, we can make illusions and camouflage. Reading under the subheading for camouflage, I learned that to go into camouflage mode. I have to look to study my surroundings and match my vibe with whatever I am. By doing so I can not only mask my scent but make myself invisible to all creatures.          A vibe is an aura that everyone gives off. The more spiritually aware you are the more the can sense how a person feels. And other things like what they are and what their status in the supernatural hierarchy is. All things can feel except for regular humans like my parents. The way to turn off camouflage is to disrupt the vibe or turn it off.     "Maybe with this camouflage I can go outside and scout to see where I am?"  I thought to myself.     "Great let's get started and maybe we can find the others too!" Meri says elatedly.   Turning on my camouflage I opened the big door with the strength that comes with being a panther shifter. Walking outside I felt the cool breeze on my face ruffle my hair that I couldn't help but shift uncontrollably. "Meri what are you doing?" I was not expecting to shift.    "Sorry, sorry it's just so refreshing and I had to get out for a run!" Meri said with a hint of disappointment.   Exasperated I said thought about it and decided "I will give you three hours and not a minute more. Got it?"   Meri giggled "Not a problem!"   Meri started running and I cannot for the life of me understand but it felt like was going to sleep.    "Mimi you have to wake up" Meri screamed in my head I woke and looked around. I was in a cottage it was perfect. I was drowning in light from the warm rays of the sun as it filled the room. I felt the plushness of the royalty bed. Hanging from the bedpost I could see black and navy blue cloths that fades into a lighter shade. Moving the silky smooth cloths out of my way, I felt my feet touch the hardwood floor. Looking at the bed I assume it's a bedroom. Moving backward I bumped into the bedside table it was gorgeous. "The Antoinette White and Gold Nightstand has a modern, sophisticated style the I adore. The white finish with lattice front, gold base, and gold knobs"  Were to die for. Sitting on top of the nightstand, the lamp was majestic with a "luxury design crafted with sleek marble, and lamp base accented by the slender brushed old gold rod that is further complemented by the light that is softened with the chintz white shade. The green tones are featured on the gorgeous Marble as an integral part of the design."     "Meri where am I?" I asked as I decided if I should look around the room rather than go back into bed.    "How about this, try imagining you as a human." I did as she instructed and slowly I came into focus in my body. Surprisingly I still had my clothes on must be Selene's magic. Thankfully Meri brought us back to our new home.   "What did you do while I was out?" My curiosity was killing me.    "I claimed this land as ours so all other supernatural knows to stay out." She explained. I nodded my head in agreement and went outside to start scouting. "Keep going North that's where I smelled people." She explained.   "Thank you."   Following her instructions, I went North until I could see the small little town, it was adorable. I went into camouflage mode and walked into town. It was cute, very country chic. With a touch of modern dotted around.   "I don't sense any supernatural so that's a win," I stated   I could feel her nod her head as I continued to walk in comfortable silence. I would have loved to live here, and the small-town city vibe was relaxing. Looking around, I noticed a clothing store perfect to supply my needs. Walking I immediately saw a few clothes I would like. Strutting over to the clothes I a brilliant idea came to me.    "Hey, Meri can I add these clothes to my camouflage?"    "Maybe." She says hesitantly. "Well, it's worth a try." I thought to myself. I put my hand on the pajamas. They are white and fluffy, with a hoodie to bury my head within. I envisioned it blending into making it unseen by all but me. It was perfect exactly as I wanted it to be. "AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" A voice screamed in the store, alerting people inside and out.    The boss-looking woman came out of a door I didn't notice was right there. I turned my attention back on the customer who screamed who was pointing to where the pajamas were. "I-it's just.. just...gone!" She uttered before falling into the arms of the person near her. Now everyone in the store was looking at where the lady was pointing. "Babe trust me when I say this RUN!"  Meri worrying that we would get caught, so I did as she said and ran as fast as possible out of the store. My senses were on fire. I guess that in my human form, I could choose human senses. or the panther ones. Zoning back in, I noticed that I was back in front of the building, and the sun was setting. Looking up at the sun, I know that I'm distracting myself from the growing pain of hunger.
