Courtney missed her mom. Fiercely. It would be the first Thanksgiving she"d ever spent away from her family, but it just didn"t make sense to spend the money for her to fly home for four days. Not when she had Ethan and Vanessa to keep her company.
C: Are you making the stuffing waffles?
Mom: No. We just decided to cancel Thanksgiving since you won"t be here. We will eat cereal.
C: And the cranberry syrup? And the pumpkin cake?
Mom: Well, no pumpkin cake. You"re the only one who doesn"t like pie, so we"re having pie.

Mom: You"re going to have fun at Ethan"s. Don"t be sad.
C: Fine. They better not make me eat fruit. Or pie.
