Chapter 1: Not even half my rent
"s**t". I cursed as I walked along the pavement. I was already 30 minutes late, and now I can't even find a cab. So I'd have to go on foot, and it would take at least an hour to get to my workplace on foot that makes me 1 hour 30 minutes late, making it even much worse.
Finally, I got to my workplace. As I walked past, I heard a few voices "yo brielle, you're late." I just ignored them and walked past. My workplace was a company for designing and delivering wedding dresses and I was one of low rankthe staff delivering wedding dresses to average living people. Most some of my co-workers Got to deliver wedding dresses to people with high status.
Climbing a few stairs up, I reached my department and changed into my uniform. As I came out from the toilet and dropped my bag, I saw xi yi, my co woker, approaching. "Hey xi yi," I smiled.
"Hey, Finn's looking for you, you know."she said and folded her arms. I sighed on hearing what she said, I didn't want that man looking for me. I hated his temper. "Why?" I asked and groaned. "I don't know if it's good or ....",
"Hello, Miss brielle johansson," xi yi was cut off by the loud voice calling out my full name. We both looked up to see finn, holding a speaker.
"You are an hour and 45 minutes late." He said and walked seductively back to his office. Quickly, I followed him into his office.
"I am so sorry, finn. I couldn't find a cab, it wasn't my fault." I tried to apologise
"oh , so whose fault was it, me?" Finn asked as he held up a mirror applying contour and touching his light lipstick .
"No, it was the um cab drivers," I said, and he rolled his eyes in return. I hope he accepts my apology. I mean, he's the manager. He could get me fired with his bad temper. Sometimes, I wonder if this is how gays are usually bad tempered.
He dropped his mirror and handed me a card. It looked like an address. He noticed my confused eyes looking at the address.
"Well , hughie is the one I'm meant to be giving this to deliver, but he isn't present . " Hughie was also a coworker who delivers dresses to people with high status.
"So, you are going to deliver this to that address now."
he continued as he handed me a large white box. I stared at the items in my hands.
So these were for people of very high status...
"What are you doing brielle, the wedding's today." He said, interrupting my thoughts.
"Oh, today?"
He rooled his eyes. "No, next week, now get going. Get there late, and you're dead. "
I nodded, and quickly, I moved out. At least I got to use the scooter. It would be faster.
On the road , I stopped for the red-light signal on the traffic light. Suddenly, I remembered the eviction notice letter that I received yesterday. One last week and another this week. I don't even know what to do at this point.
I spent the whole of yesterday just sulking and thinking of how bullshitting my life is. Even my pay is not even up to half of the amount I pay for rent. Sometimes, I barely even eat a three square meal.
