Show me that I belong to you,
That you use me like you please.
Adya looked at the car's flat tire as she hit it with her heels.
"Why do all bad things have to happen on the same day?" She asked looking at the sky which looked like it was about to cry,
"Lift anyone?" The sudden car brake made her stumble as she kept a hand on her chest and turned her gaze at him. His hands rested on the steering wheel.
"Why the hell do you always scare me?" she asked throwing her hands in the air. He smiled
inwardly, at least now she is acting like her old self.
"Get in," he said, it was getting late, and almost everyone had left the office building.
"Leave me alone, Vansh," She said opening the trunk of her car but shutting it the next second, even the spare tire was flat.
Vansh exited his car and walked to her. He glanced at the car and then at her.
"I'll get someone to fix this, come with me," he said holding her wrist but she shook her head and pulled her hand back.
"I'll be fine on my own. Besides, I can't leave my car here," She explained.
"Listen, Jaan, this parking is safe, nobody touches your little baby," he said referring to her car, he knew this one was her favorite.
"Vansh please, if you think consoling me back in the cabin gives you the right to make choices
for me, you are highly mistaken," She said clearly.
"You are the one mentioning it," he pointed out making her huff.
"Whatever, just leave okay," Throwing him attitude right at his face, she started searching for the mechanic’s number on the net.
“Adya,” He called her name but when she did not remove her gaze from her phone, he snatched it.
“Heyyy! Give it back!” She was already too annoyed by him.
“Nope,” He said and held it above her head. He was nearly a foot taller than her, even with her heels she barely managed to compare with his height.
“Vansh give it back!” She said but he shook his head.
“What you do want?” She asked irritated by his childish behavior. The chilly air around them did not help the shiver that went down her spine.
“Let me drop you home,” He said as he pocketed her phone and took off his blazer.
“What are you—“His closeness in front of people made her gulp as he kept the blazer on her shoulders, she immediately held it because of the warmth it provided.
“Get in the car before you catch a cold,” He said holding the car door open for her. She stared at him and then stared at her car.
“Aachhii!” She sneezed the next moment, making him worried for her.
“See, now get in the car,” He demanded.
“You jinxed it,” She cried.
“Whatever, GET. IN. THE. CAR, “His voice was firm leaving no room for arguments.
“I can’t leave my car alone here,” She said, already feeling tired from the amount of emotional roller-coaster this day had been.
“I promise your car will be at your doorstep before your time of leaving,” Adya did not want to believe but still she did so.
“Fine, it’s not like you’ll leave nagging until I agree,” Adya said as he smiled.
“Of course, how can I leave the lady alone to fend for herself,” he said.
You can, like you did in the past.
He held the car door open for her again as she gave up and took the passenger’s seat.
Vansh ignited the engine before taking it on the road, Adya was still struggling to put on the seat belt as she threw him an annoyed look.
“You and your fancy toys, Fix this na,” she felt like she would start crying any moment.
“Awww, Meri Jaan,” he said in a baby voice before he pulled the seatbelt from the side and tried to buckle it while handling the wheel with his left hand.
“s**t! Vansh!” Adya cried as a vehicle came on the wrong side making him take a sharp turn. His right hand was on her chest to save her.
His own breathing turned heavy, “You okay?” He asked breathless by the incident that just happened.
“You almost got us killed!” She yelled at him.
“It was not my fault!” He yelled back which made her throw him a dirty look.
Without sharing another word, Vansh started driving again, Adya did not speak to him as he took a turn.
“I did not tell you my address,” She said when he was three turns before her apartment.
“I have your records,” he said making her roll her eyes.
“Of course, bloody stalker,” She murmured lowly under her breath. Vansh did hear it but chose to keep quiet.
Suddenly he stopped the car making her turn her gaze at him, “I am craving something spicy,” He said and got out of the car.
Adya followed him to the roadside soya-chap stall.
“Can’t you eat it later?” She asked when he started enjoying it with spicy sauce. Adya's mouth watered with the smell of spicy street food.
Vansh offered her one but she shook her head. He smiled inwardly before pulling her closer to him. She opened her mouth to say something to him but he put a bite in her mouth making her glare at him.
“I hate you,” She said after chewing the bite, it was actually tasty.
“I know,” He smiled licking the sauce off his fingers.
Adya shook her head when some of the sauce smudged on his chin, she pulled the handkerchief from his left pocket.
“Stay still,” She demanded standing on her toes before holding his chin in her grip.
His eyes did not leave her face as she cleaned the sauce from his chin.
“Such a baby,” she teased.
He moved closer to her ear before he whispered, “Your baby,” he teased back making her cheeks turn slightly red.
She hit his chest with her fist as he made her eat the last bite. The next two turns to the apartment felt shorter than they actually were.
Only if the way was a little too far
“Thanks for the ride,” She said as he stopped the car in the building’s parking lot.
“Laters baby,” he quoted Christian Grey from Fifty Shades as she threw his handkerchief at his face.
Adya walked to the building, and the urge to look behind was strong.
Vansh was still in the same place, of course, he would not leave without her getting back into her apartment all safe.
Wetting her lips she turned to look at him as he smiled at her, waving his hand as she nodded and hurriedly walked inside.
A few minutes later the ping of his phone got his attention.
It was a message from Adya. ‘I reached,’
With that, he moved his car out of the building compound.
