Felicia The morning light felt softer here. I woke up slowly in my new bed, the sheets smelling of fresh lavender instead of Markus’s pine-and-rain scent. For the first time in days, I didn’t wake up crying. My hand went straight to my belly like it always did now. “Good morning, my little ones,” I whispered. Six. I still couldn’t believe it. I stayed under the warm blanket for a while, thinking about yesterday. Lila’s laughter, the pretty clothes, the mountains of baby things we bought, the relaxing spa. My body felt lighter, my skin softer. But my heart still carried the heavy ache that never fully left. I got up, made myself some ginger tea for the nausea, and stood in the living room looking at all the shopping bags. It was time to settle in. Time to make this condo feel like home.
