The air was unnervingly still. Zephyr stood frozen, fear tightening in his chest. He was trapped between two impossible choices, protecting the truth about Sylvia or saving Jason from the brink of death.
His stomach churned. It should be easy, but it's not. If Jason were here he would tell him not to let Xander through, but how could he leave him to die. He couldn’t.
“Time is running out Zephyr,” Xander’s voice echoed softly, pulling Zephyr back to reality “Who would it be? Jason, or your dearest Sylvia?”
Tears burned in Zephyr’s eyes. His body felt weak, his mind flashing to Anthony, then Sylvia. He was about to fail them both, and this time it might cost him everything, including his own safety. But he had no other choice.
