Chapter 22-3

1274 Words

Jess used his link with the Wanderer to monitor the fleet as it entered jump space once more. He’d rested as he’d promised Ali he would, but when he was awake he still felt the need to take a more active role. He was sitting on the flight deck in the pilot’s chair with Clay sitting in the seat over his right shoulder. Ali was somewhere else on the ship, but Jess could sense her amusement at his need to monitor events. Amusement he was sure would quickly have vanished if he was to do the same when he was supposed to be resting. “Everyone away at the same time again,” said Clay. “More so than any fleet would normally manage unless it was about to launch into battle at a known location. I think you’ve given them all a scare!” Jess swivelled his chair to face Clay. “Great!” he said.
