Sal glanced toward the bedroom door, thinking she’d heard Roberto stir, but he didn’t appear and she heard nothing more. That was for the best. She didn’t want him to see her like this, to see the doubts she had. She was certain destroying the Empire’s ability to create more Limited was a good thing, even if it meant a war. Killing those on the Imperial side would mostly be a mercy — from what Roberto had passed on it seemed very few would be left intact and human. The problem wasn’t whether destroying the Limited was a good idea, it was whether it was the right thing for the Church to do. Part of the reason she hadn’t wanted her and Roberto to leave the Spindrift was that many of the Church wouldn’t be given that choice. She couldn’t let them go off to fight without her. She smile
