The meeting
As the sun began to set , casting a warm orange glow over the landscape, a wolf like creature found himself drawn to a young human female. He had never seen a member of her species behave in such a peculiar manner , and he couldn't help but be intrigued.
Naledi , still hungry despite her earlier meal continued her search for food. she moved swiftly, her senses heightened as she scanned the area for anything edible. Her eyes landed on a succulent berry bush and she quickly made her way towards it.
The wolf like creature watched as Naledi picked the ripest berries , popping them into her mouth one by one. He was stuck by her innocence and curiosity, and he found himself wanting to approach her...
(Thokozani: its a Xhosa name that means praise)
Thokozani , still getting used to his human form, slowly made his way towards Naledi. He was careful not to startle her, knowing that humans could unpridictable. As he approached her , he noticed she was completely absorbed in eating the berries, oblivious to his presence.
Naledi eyes windend as she caught sight of of him watching her from behind a boulder. it was unlike anything she had ever seen before with his muscular build and shimmering fur. Her heart racing she froze, her senses on high alert.
Thokozani , sensing Naledi's fear, took a step back , holding up his hands in a calming gesture. He tried speaking to her in a soothing voice, hoping to ease her anxiety. However, Naledi didn't seem to understand him and she remained frozen in teror.
Feeling sorry for the young girl , he decided to try a different approach. He slowly began to transform back into his animal form, hoping to reasure her that he meant no harm.
As soon as Thokozani returned to his animal form , Naledi let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She took a step back , her eyes fixed on the creature before her. Slowly but surely, she began to relax , realizing that the beast didn't seem to be aggressive.
Thokozani , sensing that Naledi was no longer scared, cautiously approached her. He sniffed her gently, trying to get a better sense of her scent. Naledi , feeling more at ease, reached out a hand to touch the creature's fur.
As Naledi patted Thokozani, she couldn't help but notice the strange markings on his fur. The patterns seemed to shift and change as she gazed at them, mesmerizing her with their beauty. Thokozani , feeling a connection with the young human, closed his eyes , savoring the touch.
Suddenly, Naledi's stomach growled loudly, breaking the silence between them. Thokozani opened his eyes , noticing that she was still clutching a handful of berries. He gently took the berries from her hand and placed them in his own.
Naledi watched in confusion as Thokozani began to eat the berries. She had never seen an anamal behave in such a peculiar manner before , and she couldn't help but wonder what he was trying to do.
Thokozani, finished the berries, turned his attention back to Naledi . He reached out a hand , gently brushed a strand of hair out of her face. Naledi felt a shiver run down her spine as she met his gaze.
For a momment , the two simply stared at each other , the air thick with unspoken understanding. Naledi felt a strange sense of calm wash over her, as if she had finally found a long lost friend. Thokozani, too, felt a deep sense of connection with the young human, as if he had finally found a reason to keep going.
Without thinking, Naledi reached out and gently touched Thokozani's cheek. The creature's eyes softened, and he let out a low , rumbling growl.
Thokozani's growl turned into a gentle pur as Naledi caressed his cheek. He closed his eyes, savoring the warmth of her touch. When he opened them again, they shone with a deep sadness .
"Naledi", he said , his voice low and husky. "There's something you should know".
Naledi looked at Thokozani, her brow furrowed in concern. "What is it?" she asked, her voice barley a whisper.
Thokozani sighted, his chest havining. "My kind.... we're gone" .
"Gone?" Naledi repeated, confusion etched on her face. "They've merged with the earth. And I'm the only one left".
Naledi's eyes widened in shock. "But... Why?'
Thokozani's gaze drifted away from Naledi , his mind wandering back to the day his kind had disappeared. He remembered the feeling of emptiness, of loss, that had consumed him.
"We were supposed to live alongside humans," he said his voice heavy with sorrow . "But something went wrong. One day , they were just..... gone"
Naledi reached out , placing a gentle hand on Thokozani's shoulder . "I'm sorry," she whispered.
Thokozani's gaze snapped back to Naledi , his eyes burning with intensity. "that's why I've been searching for you," he said, his voice low and urgent. "You are the only one left."
Naledi's brow furrowed in confusion. "The only one left of what"
Thokozani's lips pressed together, his jaw clenches in frustration. " Don't you understand?' he repeated. "You're the only intelligent human left in Southern Africa. The rest is still primitive, still hunting and gathering food."
Naledi still confused and not understanding. "Oh" she said.
Thokozani's gaze softened as he looked at Naledi. "You have no idea how relived I am to have found you ," he said his voice filled with emotion.
Naledi's eyes welled up with tears as she gazed at Thokozani. She had always felt like there was something missing inside her, something that she couldn't quite explain. Now standing before her, was a being who shared the same feeling .
" What do you mean , Thokozani?" Naledi asked her voice trembling. "Why are you relieved to have found me?"
Thokozani's gaze dropped to the ground, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "Because you are the last hope for me, to not end up like my kind" he said, his voice barley audible.
Naledi's eyes widened in shock as she processed Thokozani's words. The last hope for him to not end up like his kind? What did that even mean?
Before she could ask another question, Thokozani vanished into thin air. Naledi stood there, her heart pounding in her chest, wondering if she had just imagined the entire encounter.
But then, she heard a faint whisper in her ear.
Naledi spun around, trying to locate the source of the whisper. But there was no one there.
The whisper came again , this time louder and closer. "Naledi, trust me. Trust me , and I'll show you the secrets of the universe."
Naledi's heart skipped a beat as she realized that the voice was coming from within her mind. No one had spoken to her like that before , and she felt a shiver run down her spine.
Thokozani reappeared in front of Naledi, his eyes gleaming with an otherworldly intensity. "Come with me Naledi", he said, his voice low and persuasive.
Naledi's brow furrowed in worry . "What about my parents?" she asked, feeling a pang of of guild for even considering leaving them behind.
Thokozani's gaze softened as he looked at her. "Your parents will be safe", he promised. "I'll take care of them".
Naledi's eyes nerowed. "How are you going to do that?"
Thokozani's smile was enigmatic. "just trust me, Naledi. I've been alive for millions of years. I've seen civilizations rise and fall. I know exactly what I'm doing."
Naledi hesitated, unsure of what to do. On one hand , she had always felt like there was something missing in her life. Maybe this is the answer she had been searching for.
On the other hand, she had a responsibility towards her parents. They needed her.
Naledi's brow furrowed in confusion. "What are you talking about, Thokozani?"
Thokozani's gaze drifted away from Naledi, his mind wandering back to the dawn of humanity. He remembered the earliest civilizations, the ones that had thrived alongside the dinosaurs.
Naledi's eyes widened in shock as she realized the implications of Thokozani's words. If he was telling the truth, then that means that there were intelligent humans before her.
"But that's impossible", she breathed
Thokozani chuckled, a low, rumbling sound. " Intelligent ? Ha ! Naledi is far more intelligent than you can possibly imagine."
Naledi blushed at the compliment, feeling a flutter in her chest. She had always known that she was special, but she had never expected someone like Thokozani to notice.
Thokozani's gaze softened as he looked at Naledi. "You have a spark within you, Naledi. A spark that I've never seen before".
Naledi's brow furrowed in confusion. " What do you mean?"
Thokozani's smile was enigmatic. "You have the potential to change human history", he said his voice low and hypnotic.
Naledi's eyes widened as Thokozani knelt before her, his hands clasped together in a gesture of reverence. She felt a rush of excitement mixed with fear as he looked up at her with an adoring gaze.
"My queen," he whispered, his breath hot against her skin.
Thokozani's gaze never wavered as he gazed up at Naledi. " You will change the course of human history", he repeated, his voice dripping with conversation.
Naledi's heart pounded in her chest as she gazed down down at Thokozani. She felt a sense of wonder and excitement mixed with fear as she tried to wrap her head around his words.
Thokozani's smile was enigmatic. "You will bring about a new era for humanity", he said, his voice low and hypnotic.
Naledi's brow furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean?" she repeated, her patience wearing thin.
Thokozani's gaze softened as he looked at her. "You will be the key to unlocking humanity's full potential" he said his voice filled with conviction.
Naledi's eyes widened as Thokozani stood up , his movements fluid and graceful . She felt a sense of unease wash over her as he reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair behind her ear.
"You will be remembered for eternity." He whispered, his breath hot against her skin.
Naledi's heart skipped a beat as Thokozani's gaze burned with an intense passion. She felt a flutter in her chest as he leaned in close , his lips brushing against her ear.
"I will make sure of it ", he whispered, his voice sending shivers down her spine.
Thokozani's smile was enigmatic as he took Naledi's hand. "Come with me", he said , his voice low and persuasive.
Naledi's brow furrowed in confusion as she gazed at him. "Where are we y?"
Thokozani's gaze softened as he looked at her. "I'm taking you somewhere safe", he said, his voice filled with concern.
Naledi's eyes widened as Thokozani teleported them to a dense forest. She stumbled forward, her senses overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of the unfamiliar environment.
Thokozani caught her by the elbow, his grip firm but gentle. "Steady my queen", he said, his voice low and soothing.
Naledi's breath came in ragged gasps as she gazed up at him. She felt like she was dreaming, like nothing she experienced in her daily life could compare to this moment.
As they walked deeper into the forest, Naledi noticed that the trees seemed to grow taller and the underbrush thicker. The air was heavy with the scent of blooming flowers, and the sound of birdsong filled her ears.
Thokozani led her to a clearing surrounded by a babbling brook and towering trees. In the center of the clearing stood a massive stone statue of a lion, it's eyes glowing with an otherworldly light.
Thokozani smiled , pleased with himself for bringing joy to Naledi's face."This is just the beginning" he said, his voice low and husky.
Naledi's brow furrowed in confusion as Thokozani vanished into thin air, leaving her alone in the clearing. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she gazed around her, wondering what was happening.
Suddenly, a faint hum filled the air. Naledi's eyes widened as a massive stone door slid open, revealing a hidden cave beneath the statue of the lion.
Thokozani reappeared beside her , his smile enigmatic. "Welcome to our home", he said, his voice dripping with pride. Naledi's eyes widened as she gazed into the cave, her mind racing with questions. Who lived here ? And why did it seem this place was hidden from the rest of the world?
Thokozani's gaze softened as he placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, Naledi. You'll be safe here" he said, his voice low and soothing.
Thokozani's smile was enigmatic as he gazed at Naledi. " You're right", he said, his voice low and thoughtful.
Naledi's eyes lit up with excitement as Thokozani took her hand. " We can build a new home in the forest", he said, his voice filled with determination.
Naledi's brow furrowed in concern as Thokozani's gaze turned serious. "What about my parents?" she asked her voice trembling slightly.
Thokozani's smile was enigmatic as he gazed at her. "We'll find a way to convince them to let us live in the forest", he said, his voice filled with confidence.
Thokozani's eyes gleamed with amusement as Naledi's face lit up with excitement. "What do you think of an abundance of meat for them as a gift?" he asked.
Naledi nodded enthusiastically, her ponytail bobbing up and down. " Yes they love meat", she said, her brow furrowed in thought.
