The palace had not slept.
All night, royal guards patrolled the coral walls while messengers rushed through the halls carrying warnings to every corner of the kingdom. The peaceful ocean that once surrounded the palace now felt like a battlefield waiting to erupt.
Princess Marina sat beside the nursery window, watching the dark sea outside.
In her arms, little Lyra slept peacefully again, as if the strange power she had shown earlier had never existed. But Marina knew better.
Something had awakened inside her daughter.
And whatever enemy had stolen the Ancient Sea Map was coming.
Behind her, King Adrian stood speaking quietly with the royal generals.
“We must strengthen the outer reef defenses,” one of them said. “If the Shadow Ocean Clan attacks, they will likely come from the trench.”
Adrian nodded. “Double the guards near the northern currents.”
Before anyone could say another word—
A loud explosion echoed through the water.
The palace shook violently.
Coral pillars cracked, and frightened servants swam for cover.
Marina stood instantly.
“What was that?!”
A guard burst through the doors, breathless.
“Your Majesties! The outer gate has been attacked!”
Adrian’s eyes hardened. “By who?”
The guard swallowed nervously.
“He’s here.”
“Who?”
The guard’s voice trembled.
“The Prince of Shadows.”
A cold silence filled the room.
Marina slowly handed Lyra to the royal nurse.
“Take the children to the hidden chamber,” she ordered.
“But Your Majesty—”
“Now!”
The nurse quickly gathered the twins and swam out through the secret corridor.
Adrian reached for his royal spear.
“Stay close to me,” he told Marina.
But Marina shook her head.
“No. This is my kingdom too.”
Together, they rushed toward the palace gates.
Outside, chaos had already begun.
Dark figures wearing black armor surrounded the entrance. Their glowing red markings made them easy to recognize.
The Shadow Ocean Clan had returned.
In the center of the battlefield stood a tall figure.
His long black cloak floated in the water like living darkness. His silver hair moved slowly with the current, and his eyes glowed an icy blue.
He held the stolen Ancient Sea Map in one hand.
The warriors around him stepped aside respectfully.
“Where is your queen?” the man asked calmly.
Marina swam forward.
“I’m right here.”
The mysterious man looked at her with quiet curiosity.
“So… you’re Princess Marina.”
His voice was smooth but dangerous.
Adrian stepped in front of her.
“You dare attack the royal palace?”
The man laughed softly.
“Attack?” he repeated. “No.”
His eyes moved back to Marina.
“This is only the beginning.”
Marina glared at him.
“Who are you?”
The man bowed slightly, though the gesture held no respect.
“I suppose introductions are fair.”
He lifted his head.
“I am Prince Kael… the last heir of the Shadow Ocean Clan.”
Gasps spread among the palace guards.
“That clan was destroyed!” Adrian said.
Kael smiled.
“Not completely.”
His gaze turned cold.
“Your ancestors slaughtered my people and erased our name from the oceans.”
He lifted the map slightly.
“But now the tides have changed.”
Marina’s voice was steady.
“What do you want?”
Kael’s eyes locked onto hers.
“Revenge.”
Suddenly, he raised his hand.
Dark energy exploded through the water, throwing the royal guards backward.
Chaos erupted across the battlefield.
Marina summoned a wave of powerful water magic, blocking the attack before it reached the palace.
The ocean itself seemed to respond to her command.
Kael watched with interest.
“So the rumors were true,” he murmured.
“The ocean really does obey you.”
He stepped closer.
“But I wonder…”
His eyes narrowed slightly.
“Will it still obey you when your kingdom burns?”
Before Marina could react, Kael snapped his fingers.
Shadow warriors surged forward.
The Battle of the Coral Palace had begun.
And far away in the hidden chamber…
Little Lyra suddenly woke up.
Her glowing eyes stared into the distance.
“The dark prince…” she whispered.
“He’s not the real enemy.”
