Chapter 22 : The Awakening

601 Words
The ocean had never felt so tense. Inside the royal palace, glowing pearl lanterns illuminated the grand hall, but no one felt at ease. Royal guards stood at every entrance, their spears ready, while whispers spread among the mermaids and sea warriors. The Ancient Sea Map had been stolen. And the name Shadow Ocean Clan had returned from the dead. Princess Marina swam quickly through the palace corridors, her heart heavy with worry. She pushed open the golden doors to the royal nursery where her three children slept. Inside, the room glowed softly with magical sea crystals. Her twins lay peacefully in their coral cribs, their tiny tails wrapped in soft silk blankets. For a moment, Marina allowed herself to breathe. They were safe. At least for now. Just as she stepped closer, one of the twins stirred. Little Lyra, the eldest of the three, slowly opened her bright silver eyes. Unlike the others, Lyra had always been… different. She was born during a rare Blood Moon Tide, an event that only happened once every hundred years. Many elders believed children born during that tide carried powerful and unpredictable magic. “Mother?” Lyra whispered sleepily. Marina smiled gently and stroked her daughter’s hair. “Go back to sleep, my pearl.” But Lyra suddenly sat up, her eyes wide with fear. “He’s coming.” Marina froze. “Who is coming?” Lyra’s small hands began to glow faintly. “The man in the darkness… the one who took the map.” A sudden pulse of energy shot through the room. The sea crystals on the walls flickered violently. Marina stared in shock as the water around Lyra began to swirl like a tiny storm. “Lyra…” Marina whispered. The child had never shown magic before. Yet now the ocean itself seemed to answer her. At that moment, the doors opened and King Adrian rushed in with the royal healer. “What’s happening?” Adrian asked. Marina pointed to Lyra. The healer gasped softly. “The power… it’s awakening.” Adrian frowned. “What power?” The healer’s voice trembled. “The power of the Ocean Oracle.” Marina’s eyes widened. The Ocean Oracle was a legendary guardian said to be chosen by the sea itself — a being who could see danger before it arrived and control the deepest forces of the ocean. “But that power hasn’t appeared for centuries,” Adrian said. The healer nodded slowly. “Until now.” Lyra suddenly looked toward the palace window that opened to the dark ocean outside. Her voice became strangely calm. “He’s closer than you think.” Marina felt a chill run through her body. Far away in the deep ocean… Inside the dark cave, the mysterious man studied the stolen map. Behind him stood an army of shadow warriors. A guard approached and bowed. “My lord, the preparations are complete.” The man smiled slowly. “Good.” He pointed to a glowing mark on the map. “The Hidden Kingdom of Tides lies here.” The guard hesitated. “But that kingdom is protected by the royal bloodline.” The man’s smile widened. “That is why we will destroy the royal bloodline first.” His cold eyes lifted toward the distant palace waters. “Starting with Princess Marina… and her children.” Back in the palace, Lyra’s glowing eyes slowly faded as she collapsed into her mother’s arms. Marina held her tightly, fear and determination burning in her heart. The war had already begun. And now… Her child had become part of it.
