A Perfect Revenge Husband, that’s what Rita Grant wanted.

But instead, she got him, Gevanni Marino, a man as dangerous as he was desirable, with secrets as deep as the sea.

After discovering her sister Isabella had stolen her ex-boyfriend, Rita vowed to make them both pay. She didn’t just want closure , she wanted a show. A perfect revenge hunt to make Isabella choke on envy. So when she met Gevanni, the mysterious stranger with a sharp tongue and a dark smile, she saw an opportunity. A fake marriage. A grand display. A weapon to win her sister’s twisted game.

What Rita didn’t know is that Gevanni had his own reasons for saying “I do.”

Behind his charm lies one goal, to find a hidden fortune that everyone seems to be after. A fortune that, by cruel fate, is somehow connected to Rita’s family.

Now, what began as a staged marriage for revenge spirals into a dangerous game between rogues , where love is a weapon, trust is a lie, and every kiss could be a setup.

The beginning of everything
Rita's POV I couldn’t sleep. I lay there in the dark, staring at Alex’s back as he slept soundly beside me one arm thrown lazily across the bed, his breathing steady and calm. Peaceful. Unbothered. And somehow, that made it worse. He looked perfect, even in sleep. My husband. My once-perfect man. But lately, perfection had started to look a lot like deception. I turned on my side, watching him. Every late-night call. Every “meeting that ran long.” Every time he came home smelling like a stranger’s perfume. I didn’t have proof yet but I knew. God, I knew. My father’s voice echoed in my head: “Work for what you want.” Fine, I thought bitterly. I will. Slowly, I stood up. The marble floor was cold under my feet as I padded around the bed, careful not to wake him. Even now, asleep, Alex looked composed the kind of man who could lie through his teeth and still sleep peacefully afterward. “Let’s see what you’re hiding,” I whispered. His phone sat on the nightstand, screen face-down. I picked it up, pressed his thumb against the sensor, and the screen unlocked with a soft click. My pulse spiked. The blue light glowed against my face as I slipped into the bathroom and closed the door quietly behind me. I sat on the edge of the tub, my hands trembling. Work messages. Group chats. Notifications. Nothing interesting until one name caught my eye. B. No last name. Just that single letter. My stomach twisted. I tapped it open. The messages were weeks old, but they were enough to shatter me. B: “Last night was risky… but worth it.” Alex: “You worry too much. She doesn’t suspect a thing.” B: “You’re coming by tomorrow?” Alex: “Wouldn’t miss it. Same time.” I just sat there, staring. My vision blurred, my throat tight. My husband the man I’d trusted, defended, made excuses for had been lying to me. For how long? I kept scrolling, even though I didn’t want to. There were pictures. A wine glass. A hotel view. A reflection of Alex’s arm draped across a woman’s bare leg. The time made it worse it was the same night I’d waited up for him after his “meeting.” I felt sick. Don’t cry, I told myself. Not now. I clicked the number attached to B, saved it to my phone under a hidden name. Whoever she was, I’d find her. I turned off the light and slipped back into bed. Alex didn’t even stir. *************** Gevanni’s POV The warehouse reeked of oil, blood, and fear. That smell always lingered after a job , I stood in the shadows, hands buried deep in my coat pockets, watching as Marco Grant ran his little kingdom from a steel chair in the center of the room. He looked untouchable, as always, gray suit pressed, gold watch flashing under the dim light, not a hair out of place. In front of him, two men knelt on the concrete floor, trembling, faces swollen from the beating his guards had given them. Finally, Marco raised a hand. “Enough.” The fists stopped midair. The warehouse went dead quiet, except for the breathing of the two on the floor. Marco rose slowly, brushing invisible dust off his sleeve like the blood on the ground was none of his concern. “Alright,” he said, calm as ever. “Let’s make this quick. I’ve got dinner waiting, and my daughters don’t like being kept waiting.” He pulled a pistol from his coat. I’d seen it before,it never missed. “So…” He tilted his head, looking down at the men. “You two thought it was smart to rat me out to the FBI? You forget who you’re dealing with? I own half the Bureau. Hell, I have men sitting in every room they think they’re safe in.” The first guy was shaking so hard I thought he might pee his pants. “It wasn’t me, Mr. Grant, please” The other chimed in tears. “We didn’t tell nobody, someone must’ve” “Save it,” Marco cut in. He sounded bored. “You know what I hate more than betrayal?” He c****d the gun. “Excuses.” Two quick shots. They both hit the floor, lifeless. Marco didn’t flinch. He never did. He tucked the gun away, straightened his jacket, and turned to his men. “Clean it up,” he said. “And make sure this doesn’t find its way back to me.” “Yes, boss.” I stepped forward from the shadows as they dragged the bodies out. “Efficient as always,” I muttered. “Though you’re doing your own executions again. That’s not like you.” He glanced at me, half a smirk tugging at his mouth. “You live long enough, Gevanni, and you stop trusting other people to pull the trigger right.” “Fair point.” He sighed, checking his watch. “ I’m late for dinner.” We walked toward the exit together. Outside, His black SUV was waiting by the door, engine already running. I looked at him. “You ever think of stopping?” Marco chuckled, “You’re starting to sound like my priest.” “I didn’t know you had one.” “I don’t,” he said, smirking again. Then, softer. “But lately… I’ve been thinking about it. Thinking about everything.” He poured himself a drink from the minibar in the SUV, ice clinking against glass. “Call it intuition, Gevanni, but I can feel death coming for me. It’s close. Breathing down my neck.” “Don’t start that talk.” He looked at me .“I’m serious. I’ve done enough in this life to earn a bullet. Maybe two. And when it comes, I’m ready.” I stayed silent. I’d seen men like Marco will fall. No one ever believes it until the moment the bullet pressed against their chest. “You know i would have loved if you married my daughter eldest daughter Rita, That husband of hers… Alex.” His face hardened with disgust. “I hate that man.he’s poison. I see through him. Rita deserves better than a snake with a smile.” He downed the rest of his drink and exhaled. “Promise me, Gevanni that you will take care of my girls.” “I promise.” He gave a small nod, the kind that looked like finality. The SUV door shut with a heavy thud. *************** Rita’s POV Laughter was heard through the dining room as everyone took their seats. My Dad,Marco Grant, sat at the head of the table in his usual spot.To his right, Isabella,My younger sister ,radiant and effortlessly carefree,To his left ,me. The eldest. The composed one. The one who always did things right. I poured water into Alex’s glass before sitting down beside him. Across from us sat my aunt Tina, always ready to fill silence with laughter. “Finally,” Papa said, clapping his hands once. “The Grants together at one table. Miracles do happen.” Aunty Tina chimed. “You’d think the President was coming to dinner, the way you talk.” “That would at least guarantee someone would be on time,” Papa teased, his eyes sliding toward Isabella. She rolled her eyes with a grin. “I was only ten minutes late, Papa. Traffic.” Papa leaned back with mock seriousness. “Always traffic, never responsibility.” Everyone chuckled. Even I smiled. “Anyway,” Papa said, turning his attention fully to Isabella. “So, bella, how’s life treating you these days?” “I’m doing great, Papa. I’m planning to visit Italy next month, maybe Florence or Capri. I haven’t decided yet.” Papa’s expression softened. “Good choice.” “I envy her,” I said lightly, “No responsibilities, no meetings, no deadlines. Just trips and late mornings. You’re living your best life, Izzy.” She laughed softly. “You could come with me.” I shook my head. “Please. I can’t even leave work early without three people having a crisis.” They all laughed again, and I tried to laugh with them. But in the small spaces between conversation, I caught it that flicker. Alex’s flirtatious eyes on Isabella. Her quick little smile back. My stomach tightened. Papa’s voice broke through my thoughts. “And Alex,” he said, suddenly turning his gaze to my husband. “How’s business?” Alex straightened a bit. “It’s good. We’re expanding faster than I expected, but I could use a bit more capital to speed things up.” Papa nodded, swirling his wine slowly. Then his tone changed. "well,” he said, “I hope you’re not expecting me to hand you any.” The room froze. Even the clock seemed to stop ticking. Alex’s jaw twitched. “I mean a little support...” “ you need something,” Papa cut in. “Then work for it. That’s how I built everything you see around you. You want success, you earn it.” “Papa…” I tried to ease the tension with a small laugh, reaching for Alex’s hand under the table. “Come on.” “I meant what I said,” he continued,“No shortcuts. Not for my son-in-law, not for anyone.” Silence. I could feel Alex’s fingers stiffen under mine. Then Aunty Tina laughed,“Oh, come on, Marco! Let the poor boy eat before you give him a business lecture!” Everyone chuckled weakly. Papa smirked. “Fine, fine. I’ll behave. For now.” I smiled back, because that’s what I always did, keep the peace. But something inside me had already cracked open. Across the table, Isabella lifted her eyes again. Straight at Alex. And this time, he didn’t look away. My breath caught. It lingered long enough for me to feel it in my bones, long enough for every part of me to scream that I was being made a fool of right at my own family’s table. Then it hit me. That number. I’d seen it before. With shaking hands, I picked up my phone beneath the table, my heart hammering so fast. I scrolled, found the number, and dialed it. Across from me, Isabella’s phone lit up. And rang.
