Those two months flew by. My friends graduated from middle school on a Thursday and my graduation was on Friday. I approached the podium to deliver my speech...
My dad had taken me shopping for a dress. Mom tagged along, but acted if it was a bother! Nonetheless I came out with this rhinestone embroidered white dress. The stones were silver. I matched them with silver heels. My daddy got me pearls and a matching bracelet.
I began speaking and at first I was nervous. Once I started I was okay. I received a standing ovation once I was done wishing everyone well on their new journeys. Once they called my name during the diploma presentation, I again received a standing ovation.
Amari approached me as I stood talking with my girls about what I was planning to do now that I graduated college and high school at the same time.
"Hey AM, I want to thank you for all you did. You helped me more than I knew I needed. I am sorry about you and Olivia. I broke things off after the fight. I know you didn't ask me to, but I consider you like my baby sister. I told her I would protect you like I would my natural sisters. Congrats on getting two diplomas while helping me get mine. Because of you I graduated with honors too. Nothing as fancy as yours, but my mom is really proud. I know there's plenty of others out here you helped as well. So if they don't tell you, thank you" he said before hugging me.
Omir was with him. He congratulated me and asked my dad if he could come over for a movie on Saturday. My dad agreed and it shocked me. My mom even gave a smile. She was happy all the attention was on her and daddy for having the smartest kid in the city graduate with multiple diplomas.
I let her have her moment and for a moment I think she really loved me in that moment. Omir asked me my plans now that I was done with college too. I said to further my education, I eventually want to be a doctor like my dad. He wowed and hugged me. I smelled his forever blue cologne he was wearing. When daddy noticed he hugged me for a long period of time he cleared his throat to let him know to let me go. "Daddy!" I said unhappy.
We have a surprise for you Daddy said. I knew it couldn't be a car because I wasn't old enough. My parents had driven me everyday to school. I walked home as it was only 10 mins.
My grandparents had phoned to tell me Pop Pop had broken his ankle and they couldn't come. I was disappointed. I turned the direction of the surprise my dad motioned. We went to the front of the school from the stadium. As we got closer Omir and I were engaged in conversation so I didn't see at first as I was focused on him. I finally looked up as everyone stopped.
I looked up, almost in slow motion, as everyone yelled surprise! There stood both sets of grandparents and most of all of our relatives. My brothers and their wives were present. My nieces and nephews. I blushed as tears welled in my eyes. It was a celebration.
A party was planned back at the house and daddy even let Omir come. He was happy I liked a boy my own age. He was 9 years older than mom. My birthday was two weeks ago. Omir had gotten me a necklace. I wore it everywhere. I was happy as everyone got along and had a good time at my graduation party.

Omir
I was happy senior year was almost done. Once I graduated high school I wanted to open my own business. Am and I had gotten real close. I hadn't asked her to be my girlfriend or anything, but I really like having her around. She was the smartest girl in town.
She was working on more college. She graduated with her bachelor's degree right before her 16th birthday. I was so happy to have a friend like that, she kept me focused. I did enough to pass my classes, but she motivated me to want more. I don't think I had ever told her that.
I was working on a playlist for a party. I was the DJ for at the summit, tonight. I looked up to see her coming my way. She had on a brown spaghetti strap shirt with light denim leggings and heels. Her hair was up in a high ponytail, her curls coiling at the end. Her skin would match perfectly with caramel. She had the prettiest grey eyes.
They were big and round and matched perfectly with her face. She didn't wear makeup or anything. She was just naturally beautiful. It didn't matter where we were, she always smelled like heaven. She was helping my youngest sister, Roda, with her math. She basically felt like family, she helped so many of us educationally. It was like we had a personal teacher for each course.
"Hey Omir," she said as she passed me smiling with that big pretty smile she had. Her teeth were perfectly white. I don't even think I spoke, I just enjoyed her passing me. She smelt good and looked good. She wasn't the short girl I first met when Amari took me to school with him years ago. She had the perfect hips now and was very slender. I think my manhood started to grow as I started thinking too long about her. I turned back to focus on my playlist, pulling at my pants to stretch a little.

I felt him watching me as I walked up. Omir had cut off his braids and was now rocking a low cut. He had been doing DJ work for local parties on the weekend. I helped him time and again with school stuff. His mom paid me well to help Roda who struggled with math badly. I didn't mind as it let me still see Omir from time to time. He wasn't always home when I was over, but I enjoyed the times when he was just as much as I did when he wasn't.
Amari had shockingly been in the studio recording while we were in high school. Almost immediately, it seemed his career took off and he was touring a lot four years later. He had released an album every year since we graduated. He released three his first year. The first one did really well, going platinum and earning him two grammys. I was proud of him. He kept in touch, but not so much lately. He was home when I came over to help Roda this particular day.
"Hey baby sister. Long time no see. I see college is treating you well." Amari said. Roda was going to reply, but the latter part of his greeting let her know he was talking to me. I said hello as I looked at him glowing. I said oh the music has you on a high, you're glowing.
"About that-," he said when his mom cut him off mid thought." So glad you could come on short notice. I know you're busy with your own school work. I know no one else is the best at this stuff like you are. You've helped 5 of my 8 kids already." She had 5 boys and 3 girls I realized after coming over more after graduation.
They were like steps too. Back to back. I joked with Amari at times that his dad was not playing! He would laugh. "Mom I was talking to her first, can I have her back?" " Oh I'm sorry, go ahead. Amryl I will have your money when you're done, for this month." I thanked her and turned my attention back to Amari. He beckoned for me to follow him out the door. I excused myself from Roda as she was not ready just yet, as usual.
We went out on the patio where Omir now was. He greeted us and got up to leave. Amari asked him to stay. "I want to tell you guys something." We listened quietly.
"Ella is pregnant," he blurted out. "Lisa thinks she is too," He said nervously. Lisa was his manager and he told us how they went out to celebrate selling out his latest tour. He got drunk and woke up the next morning laying next to her, both of them naked.
"Bro mama gonna kill you"
"Congrats Amari. I know you will do the right thing," I told him supportively.
"Bro, two babies? If mama doesn't kill you Ella will."
Amari took his time to gather his thoughts before saying what he said next. "I think Ella cheated on me because she hasn't let me attend any of the baby appointments despite me asking her to." I knew immediately why he asked me over. I had finished my clinical rotation for the semester and he knew I saw her during one of my rotations as she had told him so. "So what do you want from me Amari?" I replied flatly. "Her due date," almost instantly he fired back.
