Chapter 25. Ashlynn

I rush through checking in samples and hurry upstairs to Jack’s office. His secretary, a pretty blonde who I’ve seen in passing in the elevator occasionally, looks up and smiles warmly at me. “You must be Ashlynn. You can go in, he’s expecting you.” I nod at her and cautiously push open the heavy door to Jack’s office. “Umm… Jack?” I call out, not sure if I should be calling him by his first name or not. “Yeah, come on in,” he smiles at me and points to one of the chairs in front of his desk. His office is surprisingly modest for how successful he is. Large windows overlook the city, and I’m sure on a sunny day, you could see the river from here. His desk isn’t huge, but it’s rather unkempt, buried under papers and post-it notes. They say geniuses have a tendency to be messy, so maybe?
