Chapter 58

1105 Words

Matt slammed the door behind him, the sound reverberating through the quiet house. His breath came in sharp, shallow bursts as his chest heaved with a mixture of fury and betrayal. The text from Alice burned in his mind, each word searing into his thoughts like a brand. He stormed through the living room, his footsteps heavy and purposeful, until he reached the guest room. Without knocking, he shoved the door open. Alice sat on the bed, scrolling through her phone. The abrupt intrusion startled her, and she almost dropped the device. She looked up, wide-eyed. “Matt! You’re back?” she stammered, trying to mask her unease with a weak smile. “Alice,” Matt’s voice was a low growl as he marched toward her. His face was a storm of emotions—anger, confusion, and a desperate need for answers.
