Alice pov “The mating ceremony is this weekend and I can't wait to see who my mate is.” The first girl said, and then it hit me that the mating ceremony is coming soon. The mating ceremony takes place every 2 years and the Shadowclan pack is hosting it this year. Maybe I can finally get a mate and be free from this slavery. I hope he can be my ticket out of this hell of a house once and for all. Who would even want a weak omega like me in the first place? A sigh escaped my lips as I did my chores. I returned to my room and started looking for what to wear for the mating ceremony. “Alice!” I heard a loud shriek from downstairs and I immediately knew it was my cousin, Stacey. I rushed down to her room and she was standing with a pile of clothes with her face red with rage. Stacey is my cousin, my very spoiled cousin at that. She is the only child of my uncle, Alpha Lucas, and his Luna, Elizabeh Lockheart. Stacey is rude and bad mannered, especially to me, but her parents see nothing wrong with it. She never fails to make my life a living hell in this house alongside her Mother. “You called for me” I answered. “Where is the dress I asked you to prepare for me for the mating ceremony? Am I supposed to do that myself? You cannot be in my father’s house and do nothing when you are being fed and housed for free.” Stacey shouted, i stayed quiet trying to not add more to the current misery she was about to put me in. “I’m sorry Stacey, I will get the dress sorted out now.” I bowed my head and she scoffed. I knew I had only a few days before I was free from this misery they were putting me through. I did as she asked, and the day continued with her trying to choke me with work until the day of the mating ceremony. After doing all the work i was asked to do, i went up to my room to freshen up. I found a pretty black dress, although it wasn’t as good as Stacey’s, but it was good enough. I stepped outside my room and met Stacey at the staircase. She looked at me with so much disgust. “Do not tell me you are attending the mating ceremony.” Stacey scoffed as she walked down the stairs to meet Alpha lucas and elizabeth, where they were standing, waiting for her. The mating ceremony is being hosted by alpha lucas. It is usually done in the palace, but this time they decided to make it open to the public outside the palace. “She is part of the pack, so I guess she should go to the ceremony.” He replied, and the driver drove us to the hall. We arrived and everyone in the hall seemed to be conversing with each other, and I just stood near a corner scanning the room. “Do you think our mate is here?” My wolf asked in her low and thin voice. “I hope so. I can’t wait to meet him; maybe he will. If i get my mate I’m definitely leaving the palace” i replied to my wolf as i picked up a glass of juice to drink, as i watched everyone mingle. Suddenly, a strong woody scent hit my nostrils. It was intoxicating and, at the same time, my heart melted. I felt a knot around my chest as my eyes landed on a chestnut-haired man who looked like a Greek God. I could feel butterflies in my tummy as he turned to look at me, and I blushed a little. The look of his face was that of confusion and his face immediately hardened. He walked towards me and stood a few inches away from me. I recognized him, he was one of the most powerful alphas who had been attending the mating ceremony for a few years now. “Mate.” His wolf called out in sync with mine and i felt elated. I don’t know how he was feeling inside, but deep down i hope he won’t reject me because I’m an omega. “You are alice.” And i nodded gently and nervously. “How do you know my name?” I asked, slightly surprised. “After all these years of waiting and the moon goddess giving me a worthless piece of s**t like you?!” He exclaimed. “I Alpha Adrian moon reject you Alice Grey!” He said in a cold tone. I felt my hopes crashing down in just one second, my heart broke into a million pieces. I didn’t know what to say as all the sentences I tried to form were incoherent. I’ve been waiting to meet my fated mate only for him to reject me on the spot. “Wait,” i finally said. “I-I think there is a misunderstanding somewhere, we only just met and I haven’t done anything to upset or irritate you, and you are rejecting me. I don’t accept this rejection at all.” I stutter as tears threaten to fall down my eyes. The look of disgust grew more visible on his face, and i felt so embarrassed as people started turning to look at us. “Who do you think you are? I am alpha Adrian and I cannot settle for a worthless omega like you as my mate or luna. You will be a disgrace to me and my pack.” He spat angrily and tears rolled down my cheek. “You look so weak, you are weak to the extent that i can feel your wolf’s weakness just by standing meters away from you. Someone like you cannot be respected as a Luna”, he turned and walked away from me, leaving me alone shattered. I didn’t know what to do. I stood there motionless and i felt everyone’s eyes on me mocking and judging. I should never have expected an alpha like him to choose an omega like me. No one would want a weak omega like me. “This year Alpha Adrian has requested specially to choose his mate.” I heard alpha Lucas’ voice from the stage and everyone turned their attention to him immediately.
