CHAPTER 50

Kai's eyes locked onto Lucas's, and he took a step closer, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"No, I don't like it," he repeated, his words laced with emotion. Lucas's gaze never wifted, his expression open, inviting Kai to continue. The air was charged with unspoken tension, and Lucas's voice was barely audible when he spoke.

"Then maybe you should've thought of that before..." he trailed off, leaving the rest unsaid. His eyes, however, said it all. Kai's expression faltered for a moment, Lucas's words hitting their mark. He took another step closer, his voice low and pleading.

"I did think of it, Lucas," he said, his words tumbling out. "I thought of it every day, every night... every time I saw you, and it hurt, Lucas. It hurt so much." Lucas's eyes searched Kai's face, his expression unreadable, but his gaze softened, ever so slightly. The air was thick with emotion, and Lucas's voice was barely above a whisper when he spoke.

"Show me."Kai's eyes locked onto Lucas's, the two words sending a spark through him. He took a step closer, his heart pounding in his chest. Lucas's gaze never wifted, his eyes burning with a mix of hurt and longing. Kai's voice was barely a whisper as he reached out, his fingers brushing against Lucas's jaw.

"Like this?" he asked, his touch sending shivers down Lucas's spine. Lucas's eyes fluttered closed, his breathing hitching.

"Yeah..." he whispered, his voice barely audible.Lucas's eyes remained closed, his face tilted slightly into Kai's touch. The air was thick with tension, and Kai's fingers trailed down Lucas's jawline, sending shivers down his spine. Lucas's voice was just a whisper.

"More." Kai's heart skipped a beat. He leaned in, his lips brushing against Lucas's, the touch sending sparks flying. Lucas's response was immediate, his lips parting, deepening the kiss.

The kiss deepened, Lucas's arms wrapping around Kai's waist, pulling him closer. Kai's hands slid into Lucas's hair, the world around them melting away. Lucas's lips were soft, insistent, and Kai was lost in the familiar taste of him. The anger and hurt from before seemed to dissipate, replaced by a desperate need for connection. Lucas's breathing quickened, his grip on Kai tightening. He pulled back, just enough to whisper against Kai's lips.

"Don't do that again."Kai's heart skipped a beat at Lucas's words, his lips hovering over Lucas's.

"Never," he whispered back, his voice raw with emotion. Lucas's eyes snapped open, locking onto Kai's, searching for truth. Whatever he saw there seemed to satisfy him, because his expression softened, and he pulled Kai back into the kiss. The world narrowed to the two of them, lost in each other, till Lucas's phone buzzed loudly in the background.

Lucas groaned softly, reluctantly pulling back from the kiss. He reached for his phone, silencing it without looking. His eyes stayed on Kai's, the tension between them still palpable.

"Ignore it," he whispered, his voice husky, pulling Kai back in. The phone buzzed again, insistently this time. Lucas cursed under his breath, his gaze never leaving Kai's.

"Or..." he said, his tone suggesting he'd rather not.The phone buzzed again, and Lucas's expression shifted, a hint of annoyance creeping in. He reached for it, his eyes rolling as he saw the screen.

"It's work," he said, his voice low, apologetic. Kai's gaze followed the phone, a flicker of reality intruding on the moment. Lucas's thumb hovered over the answer button.

"Do you want me to..." he started, his eyes asking the question. Kai's expression turned serious, a mask slipping into place.

"Answer it," he said, his voice firm, stepping back to give Lucas space. Lucas's eyes held Kai's for a beat, then he answered the call, his tone professional.

"It's Kalen," he said, answering the phone.

"Lucas speaking, sir." Kai's eyes narrowed slightly, his brother's timing was impeccable. Lucas listened for a moment, his responses short and to the point. As he hung up, his gaze met Kai's.

"Kalen needs to see you in his office." Lucas's tone was even, but Kai knew that tone. Kalen was not happy. Kai's jaw clenched, a familiar tension creeping in.

"What does he want?" he asked, his tone guarded. Lucas shrugged, his expression neutral.

"Didn't say. But you know Kalen - doesn't like to be kept waiting." Kai's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities. He nodded, a decision made.

"I'll go." Lucas's gaze lingered on Kai's face, but he said nothing, just nodded and turned to grab his things.

Kai turned to leave, his movements economical, but Lucas's voice stopped him.

"kai?" He turned, one eyebrow raised. Lucas's expression was carefully neutral, but Kai knew him too well. "I will be waiting," Lucas said, his voice low. Kai's gaze held Lucas's for a beat, a flicker of understanding passing between them. Then he nodded, a small dip of his chin, and turned to face whatever Kalen had in store.

Kai's eyes scanned the room, taking in the unexpected gathering. His gaze lingered on Rhine and Ellen, their presence adding to the tension in the room. Kalen's voice was cold, detached, as he spoke from behind his desk.

"Kai, glad you could join us. We have a situation." Kai's expression remained neutral, his eyes flicking to Zach and Ryan, trying to read their expressions.

"What's going on?" he asked, his tone even.

"Tenebrous palace was attacked and...Ivory got hurt" Ryan said a bit worried. Kai's face went white, his eyes locked on Ryan's, disbelief etched on his features.

"Ivory...?" he repeated, his voice barely above a whisper. The room fell silent, all eyes on Kai as he processed the words. Kalen's cold mask slipped for a moment, a flicker of concern flashing in his eyes, before he regained control.

"She's alive," he said, his tone clipped. "But we need to talk about what happened."Kai's eyes snapped back to Kalen, his gaze intense.

"What do you mean, she got hurt? How bad is it?" he asked, his voice low and urgent. Ryan shifted uncomfortably,

"We don't know much, Zach just got the message and called us here." Kai's jaw clenched, his eyes never leaving Kalen's face.

"Tell me everything," he growled, his tone leaving no room for argument. Kalen's expression remained impassive, but a hint of approval flickered in his eyes.

"Very well. Tenebrous place was attacked by an unknown group. Ivory was caught in the crossfire. That's all we know for now." Zach paused, studying Kai's reaction...

"We need to figure out our next move." Ellen nervously shift in her seat. Kalen's gaze linger on her.... He knew she was hiding something.

"Do you have something to say. Ellen?" Kalen's tone was flat but it jolt Ellen out of her thoughts. Every one turned to Ellen curiously.... She gulped at the sudden attention that was given to her.

"Emm...I... I got a vision last night... I was going to tell you today but then I got a call from my aunt that Ravenswood was attacked... When I tried to talk to Zach about it, that was when he told me about this meeting" Ellen answered. Every one was shocked to hear that, not only the vampires but the witches were also attacked.

"what did you see" Kalen asked

"Dekker... He came back with the help of the three stones of the universe... They have gotten the stone of infinity from tenebrous and the stone of the of death from Ravenswood... We can't let them get to the life stone" The room fell silent, the air thick with tension. Every eye was on Ellen, their faces etched with shock and curiosity. The vampires and witches exchanged uneasy glances, the weight of Ellen's words hanging in the air like a challenge. Kalen's gaze was piercing, Rhine's brow furrowed in concern. The atmosphere was heavy, electric with anticipation, as if the room itself was holding its breath, waiting for someone to make the next move.

"No one have heard anything about the life stone in centuries.." Zach said.
