Delta let Mira cry. Delta was curious as to what she remembered, which made her cry the way she’s crying. Delta’s heart pained to see her Mira hurt. All she could do for the moment was to console her.
A few long minutes pass and Mira was able to stop her tears. She picked her head up and looked at Delta with puffy eyes. Delta giggled and wiped her last tear with her thumb.
“Would you like to share what you saw?” Delta kissed her softly on the lips. Placing her forehead on Mira’s, “Rely on me, love.”
Mira smiled and fell back into Delta’s arm, “I saw my father.”
“And is that why you cried because you remembered your father?”
“No. What caused me to cry was how much of a bad daughter I am.”
“How so, my love?” Delta caressed Mira’s hair.
“How can a daughter forget her own father?”
“It’s not your fault. Okay. You were in an accident, it can happen to anyone.” Delta hugged Mira more tightly. “Just be happy that he was the first person you remembered. That means you didn’t really forget him, he was just hidden in your mind. And now you found him.” Delta lifted up Mira’s face and kissed her again.
“We’ll rest today and we can try some more tomorrow, okay?” Delta smiled at Mira. Mira nodded and hugged Delta again. “Should we get out of here? I bet you’re hungry.” Delta giggled.
“I am.” Mira smiled. Delta helped her up and they changed into their clothes. When they were exiting Caspian was waiting for them outside the cave.
When he saw them walk out, he quickly walked up to them. “So, did you remember anything?”
Mira nodded, “Yes, my father.”
Caspian sighed, “That’s it. Most people remember a lot more.” He pointed out.
Delta elbowed her brother. “It’s not easy for her. Us mermaids can adapt to our memories quickly, but for humans, the process is tiring for their minds. We could kill her if we go overboard.”
Caspian nodded in understanding, “I’m sorry. I forgot. But if you do a little every day, you’ll get most of your memories back.”
Mira smiled at Caspian, “Thank you. To the both of you. We just met and you guys are really trying your best to help me remember who I am.” She turned to face Delta, “I’m especially thankful for having met you.”
Delta started blushing, she grabbed Mira and hugged her tightly.
Caspian from the sideline had a bad feeling about this. She was happy that her sister found someone, but that someone doesn’t belong here. Her life and heart are elsewhere. He knew his sister would be heartbroken when Mira remembers who she is and decides to leave. She needs to remember quickly, that way she can leave faster and his sister doesn’t hurt.
