Chapter 12: Paper Planes

The next morning a knock on my front door is what wakes me. Glancing back at Liam's sleeping form, I slip past him and grab my robe. Closing the door quietly behind me I walk down the dim stairs to the front door, unlocking I open the door to find Andy. The air outside is freezing, his nose is red from the cold air and his blonde hair is ragged.

"Did you walk here?", I ask motioning him inside from the cold.

"My car is currently with my dad his is getting fixed which of course means that I am the lucky person without a car at the moment", he says walking in and taking off his tan coat and black scarf. He walks to the kitchen as I close the door, running a hand through his hair.

"You didn't make coffee or something by chance?", he asks taking a seat at the bar stool.

Glancing at the clock in the kitchen, I see that it is four in the morning.

"You do realize normal people don't get up at this ungodly hour right? That most of us prefer to sleep?"

"So that's a no for the coffee then?"

" Yes that is a no", I say rolling my eyes at him. I still go and make a pot of coffee for him.

"So" he says as I take a seat next to him, " Are you planning on telling me what is going on or are you going to stick to your magical creature story?"

A voice comes from the doorway answering for me."She told you the truth Andrew, it is crazy but it is true"

Andy and I turn to face Liam leaning on the door frame, his arms folded in front of him.

"Liam, what are you doing here", Andy turns to look at me, "What is he doing here?"

"He has been here for a few days now actually", I say looking down.

"Is this the big secret, that you had to concoct a werewolf fantasy story just to keep from me?"he looks at me his eyes narrowing at me.

"Andrew I understand your confused but there is no reason to-" he is cut off my Andy's annoyed grunt.

"Who are you to tell me what is going on?I barely know you outside of school so don't go acting as if you're some how above me all of a sudden. Because news flash buddy you aren't"

Liam goes to move in front of Andy but I get up to stand between them. "Enough" I look at Liam when I say it but I don't miss the smirk evident on Andy's face. " Both of you need to calm down" this time I look at Andy when I say it.

His face loses all cockiness instantly " You're defending this guy? he asks getting up.

"Andrew I am not defending anyone. What has gotten into you? You are never like this, you're usually the one who is level headed"

" I am the one in the dark here Clare!" his voice rising.

"Keep it down there's others that are trying to sleep"

"Others?" he laughs without humor " Are you kidding me Clare"

"That is enough! You don't get to talk to her like that!" Liam says moving past me towards Andy.

"Stop it!" I yell. They both turn to face me. "I know how to solve this, now follow me"

Disgruntled Andy pushes past Liam. I share a look with Liam hoping I convey some semblance of reassurance as I walk out the door towards the woods.The cold air bites at my exposed skin making me shiver.

I turn around and call for Liam to come towards me. He does and I hand him my robe. Thankfully I am wearing an ugly set of pajamas so ripping it wont be a total loss. Andrew has to see me transform completely so changing was not an option.

i turn and face Andrew and smile slightly, "Don't blink I say"

His confused expression morphs as he watches the transformation my clothes rip as my body takes on my wolf form.

"What the actual hell" he says stepping back, his eyes wide with fear and curiosity.

Andrew looks from me in my wolf form to Liam. "You weren't lying" he says.

Liam shakes his head " No we weren't now turn around so she can change back" still in a daze Andy listens.

Changing back Liam covers me with my robe and we walk back to the house.

I head upstairs to change while Liam and Andy went to sit in the living room, I told Liam to fill him in on everything, my nerves rendered me from being able to explain myself properly. I knew he was going to mention the mates part hopefully it calms Andy down to know that Liam was not taking advantage of me.

Heading back downstairs they both turned to look at me.

"I am sorry Clare I-"

"It is okay, its a lot to take in I am surprised you haven't gone running out the door to be honest."

"I have thought about it but I cant do that...not to you"

I move to hug him, glad he hasn't abandoned me after everything.

We spent the next hour explaining in depth about everything and how our world worked, Liam had changed into the clothes a pack member had brought for him a few days ago along with his bag of school work.

Any relaxed only slightly when we explained the mate bond his eyes kept looking from Liam then to me. He still appeared tense. When the time came to head to school I made sure to write a note for the twins.

When we arrived at school all eyes were on us, at first I was rather confused, but then I remembered the role that Liam had in this high school and that only made me stand straighter.

Liam held my hand, squeezing it every once in a while just to remind me that he was there.

As I got to my locker, I glanced at my timetable and saw that I had Latin first period. I couldn't help but grin, I shared this period with Liam.

"You do realize the amount of work we need to catch up right?", Liam whispered in my ear, only making me shiver.

I rolled my eyes, closing my locker, and turned to face him.

"No.... Really?" I said sarcastically, laughing softly.

"Yes, and can you believe it? I mean who would have guessed missing a couple of days of school would make such a mockery of our work load" he shook his head chuckling.

" Well... You must be very lucky having someone like me as your mate, because without me you would probably fail"

"Aw...you wound me, but yet you speak only the truth. And to answer yes I'm very lucky to have a beautiful, talented, and smart mate at my side"

I couldn't help the grin that spread across my face. And just then the bell rang signalling the start of fort period.

Andy came towards us.

"Come on love birds, I have paper planes to make of my notes" he said with a chuckle.
