Chapter 1(Emery)
P.O.V: EMERY
Sigh ....another day, another hassle. I tried to keep my face as smiley as possible, but it was not helping; they wouldn't stop. I've been left to deal with these idiots since they entered the café. These alpha frat hooligans come here at least twice a week to torment my life, and I am sick and tired of all this sh*t, sigh ... how I wish this would end soon so that I could go home and rest. I placed on my best customer service smile, then I headed out to take their orders. " You got this," the chef shouted to me on my way out. I gave him a fake smile before heading out to their table. " What can I get you today?" I asked them. They laughed, and one of them said to me, "How about your number, with a BJ on the side?" Then he smiled smugly. I turned to the side and huffed as I suppressed the urge to just throw the damn notepad at him." I suggest you look at the menu that is provided for you, sir," I told him. he just laughed and continued bickering with the others. When they were done ordering, I rushed to the counter to place their orders. Then I saw Manny coming in from the back. She was late again. She was supposed to be at work 2 hours ago; if she had been here, I wouldn't be dealing with these hooligans with no brains. "You're late," I said to her. She gave me a sheepish smile. "Sorry, you know Anna is in preheat and she needs me." Yeah, I knew. Anna was my other best friend apart from Manny. They've been together since high school, and they found out that they were fated mates. And they've been my best friends since I started schooling at Seneca College.
"Poor baby, how is she?" I asked her.
" She would be fine. I gave her some suppressants to ease the pain, but I am still worried about her. I sighed and hugged her.
The alphas were still rowdy by the time their orders were ready. I took their food from the chef and headed out with it. " Should I take it from here?" Manny asked, knowing clearly how these frat boys misbehave with me every time they come around, and it just pissed her off. " No need, I got it." I smiled at her and went to their table. As I was handing them their food, I jumped and almost dropped the glass of lemonade that was on the tray on one of them as I felt someone pinch my thighs. I turned to look at the guy closest to him, smiling smugly and raising my eyebrow at him. I stayed calm and told him to keep his hands to himself or else he would be escorted out of the Diner. He just let me off and continued to throw packets of ketchup at his friends like nothing had happened.
I went back to the staff lockers and changed, ready to leave. Since Manny was here, she could finish her shift, so my job here was over. I had to quickly get to the train station so that I could catch the next bus to my apartment.
I arrived at the bus station just in time and hopped on. I was the only person on the bus at midnight, so I heaved a sigh, then continued with my homework as I sat down. It took about 20 minutes to get to my bus stop, but I had to walk a few minutes to my apartment.
It was nearing the rainy season, so everywhere was damp and cold. I rushed to my apartment as I hopped off the bus since I was not layered well enough, and I was freaking freezing.
I got to my apartment and dug out my keys to open the door. I removed every single piece of clothing I had on, then hopped in the shower to take a long, hot shower before stepping out and heading for bed. I plugged in my old cracked phone, then slid into my nest and wrapped myself like a burrito with layers of blanket, and looked forward to the next day.
I woke up with high hopes of getting a better day than yesterday, but no. I woke up to my lights being turned off and a message from my landlord saying that I was late in payment for the second time this year. I groaned as I read the message. If only I had received my paycheck this week, how am I going to pay the bills?
I reluctantly got up from bed and got ready for school. The shower was so damn cold, but I took my bath anyway, I got ready, and went out anyway. The bus ride was peaceful and not so long after I was dropped off at my stop, then I walked from there to school.
"Emery!!!!" Manny shouted at me as soon as I entered the class. "Hi, you are full of energy today, ain't you?"
"I sure am, we had the best nights yesterday. Wanna hear about it?" she asked. "Please no, but I am sure you would anyway, so let's hear about it later," I said to save myself the Torture. "You okay?" she asked. "Yeah, just cold," I answered her.
"There is something more. What's up?"
"I woke up to a dark apartment today. I was supposed to pay my bills yesterday, but I did not receive any paycheck yesterday." I ahrugged
"That's f*cked up, man."
"Yeah. I would ask Mrs Mann for my paycheck today, but it is hard with everything that is going on."
"That's True," she nodded in agreement since we work at the same Diner and she was very aware of everything that the owner was swamped with debt and bills, but they also need to make a living.
We all sighed, then she turned to me with a mischievous smile, "Why don't you get yourself a Sugar Daddy, you are not bad to look at, you know?" I looked at her with disbelief. "Manny!!!. Bad girl," I said as I smacked the back of her head.
"WHAT!!!" she said, feigning her innocence
"Don't give me that look." I glared at her. How could she blurt that out like that? I swear she doesn't have an ounce of shame in her.
She just looked at me and smiled, then continued. "I swear to the goddess of fate if I had that kind of face and the big fat ass of yours, I would get a man to pay my bills," she said without batting an eye.
"I am telling Anna," I said as I grabbed my phone to text her girlfriend.
"Emmy pleeeease don't tell her?" She said with a sincere pleading look. Anna can be scary when she hears Manny talking about someone else who isn't her; she is very protective of this female Alpha golden retriever.
I laughed as I stopped whatever I was about to do and we focused on the lesson.
I had work after school, so I went to work immediately after school. I was thinking about what Manny said, although it sounded stupid, but she does have a point. I am not bad to look at, so why don't I give it a try? I thought to myself on my way to work.
"Maybe this is a bad idea," I said to myself as I entered the cafe. "Good evening, everyone," I said as I went to the locker room to get changed.
I stopped at the manager's office and knocked, then entered.
" Hey Emery." She said in a gloomy voice
"Hey, Mrs lovell, what's up?"
Sorry to break this to you, but I will have to close the shop soon.
