The next day
Agnus found herself Infront of a two story duplex. She'd received a text from Damien earlier "I'm sorry to disturb you but I'm leaving for a meeting and you are the only one I could think of". She'd agreed but she wondered why, she hadn't seen Damien in five years, he could have changed and could be a criminal but she was here. She walked up to the door, presses the doorbell and 15 secs later.
"Aunty, you're here!" Misha greeted excitedly. Agnus smiled
"Hey Misha, where's your dad?" Agnus asked
"He's coming" Misha answered. Just then Damien walked around the corner.
"Misha, I've told you never to open the door without me" Damien chided her softly.
"Sorry daddy" Misha apologized
"It's fine" he said then faced agnus with a smile.
"Morning agnus, come in" He greeted agnus and she did and he led her to the living room "look, I know we haven't seen each other in five years and my behavior before you left was wrong and that we weren't really friends but thanks" he said with gratitude
"It's fine, like I said. It was in the past and I've kinda moved on, always busy, well most of the time anyway" She said to ease his guilt
"Still thanks. I still wanna get to know you, Matilda didn't really say nice things" Damien confessed
Agnus raised a brow "What none nice things did Matilda say?" she asked
"Oh, um...did I say that? Sorry, I didn't wanna say anything, so as to not further ruin your friendship" he said
"Trust me, our friendship was ruined the day I found you two kissing" she said while looking straight into his eyes
"Matilda said you were a liar and a thief. She said you'd always take cash from your parents and blame it on their bad memory, her words not mine" Damien confessed as he looked down, not able to look into her eyes for what he was about to say next and due to the shame he felt for believing Matilda so easily "she said you once told her to rob a bank, that you were in desperate need of cash and that you wanted her gone" he finished
"Matilda really said that?" She asked, almost in disbelief. Damien raised his head, looked straight into her eyes and nodded "I can't believe her, well add this to all she said to me and our childhood together never really existed" She said
"That's the main reason I laughed along, I believed her and I was so stupid to do so. I never even knew you and I believed someone. It wasn't until I found out she'd been using me and cheating that I realized she must have lied about you too. Guilt ate at me everyday, I always wanted to apologize but I knew that there was no hope in finding you but I guess the universe works in mysterious ways and that's the whole truth" he explained honestly
"I'm glad you told me and I totally understand, Matilda was really manipulative. I never really knew her, she fooled us both" she said. Damien gave her a small smile then got a ding on his phone. He stood up from his couch.
"Oh no, I'm gonna be late, thank you again Agnus and take care of Misha" he said his goodbye and pecked Misha on the forehead as she was sitted infront of them, two feet away, playing with her dolls.
"Go, it'll be fine. I'll take care of everything." agnus said to him
"Okay, be good for agnus, okay?"
"Okay daddy" Misha nodded and he left. Agnus heard the front door lock and went to double lock it then returned. She'd never babysat before, so she had no idea what to do "So Misha, what do you wanna do?" she asked
"Can we play with my dolls?" Misha asked
"Uh, sure, I guess" agnus agreed. Chapter 4 coming soon.
