Chapter Four

Chapter 4: A memory of a nightmare

I step back when he took a step towards me which made him smirk like a devil. He knew the fear that I feel towards me and he actually like that. I look at my brother who is trying to break free from the hold of two men.

“Rei!” he shouted my name and tried to come to me but those two men are strong enough to hold him.

I was shaking because of fear. I can’t even feel my knees which made me fall down to the floor that made the demon in front of me happier than he already was.

"After so many years, I finally found you two. Well, I don’t really care about you two because even if you went to the police that day, nothing will happen. All the evidences were gone. Even the police can’t do anything about it. It’s a good thing that you chose to keep your mouth shut or else, you won’t like what could I have done to you back then," he said with a evil smile on his lips.

“If you really don’t care or you have nothing to do with us, then let me and my brother go! Why did you even captured us?!" I yelled at him

"Because of you, my dear. You are very precious to someone I hate the most. After I hurt you or kill you, he will be livid. A monster who is sleeping inside him would be awaken and I am sure, no one will like a monstrous leader like him."

I don’t understand a thing he said. It’s like the ability of my brain to process the words he is said to me suddenly stopped because of the pain I felt when he kicked me on the stomach.

"No! Don't hurt her!" my brother yelled which made the demon turns his attention to him. "Hurt me instead," my brother pleaded.

I can’t do anything when all of their attention turned to my brother.

"Sweet. You're willing to sacrifice yourself for your sister," the demon said, smirking. He grab my brother’s hair to make him stand up. "I still can’t believed that you two are that bastard’s weekness. So what if I kill you both? I'm sure I could unleash the devil in him."

"No!" I shouted when he punch my brother and the rest of his gang followed. I knee Liam can fight them but he chose not to, to protect me.

"Don't hurt her," he pleaded again before that demon pointed a gun at him.

"Okay. Let me think about it,” the demon said before pulling the trigger.

It was a deafening silence after I saw my brother falling down on the floor. They were laughing but all I could hear is my voice, shouting my brother’s name again and again. I tried my best to break free from the two guys who are holding me and run to my brother. He even manage to open his eyes when I held him and called him again. He held my stomach before looking at me with a smile

"Take care of him. I love this little guy living inside you and I love you, Reigan. Don’t ever forget that," he said.

“No, Liam,” I pleaded and held his hand tightly. He caress my face and smiled before closing his eyes.

I was crying so hard when I woke up. Heiz is beside me who is also crying and I could see the worriness in her eyes.

"You keep on calling your brother. I'm trying to wake you up you just won't wake up. Tinakot mo ako, Reigan," she said with a trembling voice so I hugged her instead.

For the past years since that nightmare happened, every night, I always dreamed about it like it just happened yesterday. It's been years since the last peaceful sleep I had and that was when I was still with Matthew.

"Is it that dream again?" Heiz asked and I just nod as an answer. She hugged me tighter knowing how painful it is for me. I let go of her and look her in the eyes.

"I will never stop, Heiz I will never stop until I found that demon. I will make him pay for what he had done to me and my brother. I will make him feel the pain I’ve been through."

"Just be careful, okay? I can’t lose you too. I don’t think I can go on with my life again without you. Losing your brother is like losing half of my life. So please, don’t take away the remaining half.”

I wiped away her tears and smiled at her.

“I promised,” I said.

After the tragedy that happened to my brother, that demon and I had an agreement that made my life a living hell. I have no choice but do my part on our bargain for me to live and my baby. Amd that is to leave my husband and pretend that I’m having an affair.

But my child, he died eventually. When that demon found out that I’m pregnant, he kidnapped me again and got rid of my child.

"Come on, Matt. Can’t you just forget those things that happened in the past? You know we need BSC! Specially now, Aftermath Music, the rival of your company are also planning to get a partnership with BSC," Ethan said but my attention remains on the papers in front of me. The information of Cassidy that I got from my private investigator.

I actually looked for her in the whole Los Angeles when she left and when I found her, she's in the hospital, mourning because of our unborn child. I stayed beside her but again, she left me. She escaped from the hospital. I looked for her again but I can no longer find her.

As I read the papers in fron of me, it says here that she lived in Los Angels for about 2 years and then she moved in New York when she was scouted by a famous talent agency and then went here in the Philippines. She's been living here for a year now. Even before she came back here in the Philippens, she’s already a well-known theater actress in LA and New York. She released albums and all of them became no. 1 in Billboard.

"How come I don’t have any idea about this? All this time she is Reigan. She is just using her second name," I said to Ethan.

I actually didn't stop looking for her. Who would have thought that we’re just in the same industry. She was known by her name Reigan but that's it. Just Reigan. I didn’t even thought that it might be her. Even her voice, I actually never heard her sang before, she only plays instruments and it says on the articles about Reigan that she can only the piano. The only instrument that Cassidy, my wife, can't play.

She really played the hide and seek very well. All the things I've known about her are the opposite of what other people knew about her. That’s why I can’t find her. I, Matthew Aris Guevarra, the CEO of SMAC, the leader of the Rhapsody gang which the most powerful gang in the gangster world, got fooled by my own wife.

I rip all the report papers about her and throw them away from my table.

"Matt," Ethan called me, as if he is trying to calm me down.

"No, Ethan. Don't say another word," I told him which made him shut his mouth. "Is there no other way to get the BSC sign with us?"

He shook his head which made me angrier.

"They said you to convince Cassie-"

"I told you to never call her that way. It's Reigan for you," I cut him off but still continued

"As I was saying, they want you to convince Reigan to sign in our company because she keeps on rejecting them. Actually, ever since the whole Philippines knew about Reigan coming home and she is actually a Filipino, a lot of recording companies are trying get her and become their artist.

"She didn’t renew her 2 years contract with Blue Note when it expired. Well she still keeps in touch with the company but she chose to come home in the Philippines for some unknown reasons," he said while looking at me intently.

And that's because of me? My wife who hated me and left me 9 years ago, came back and gave up her career just to be with me again? That's absurd. No one would believe that shit

We fell silent when my sister, Rhyme came to the room with Ryle. Yesterday, after my encounter with Cassidy, my sister came next and kept on pesterning me. She keeps on asking me questions about Cass if it is true that we’re married. I didn’t know that she actually heard our conversation.

"We're busy. What are you doing here?" I asked her and rest my body on my swivel chair. I feel so damn tired.

"You know why I'm here and I won’t stop until you tell me the truth so you better start talking! That girl is just...argh!" she said frustratedly not knowing how to describe Cassie. I smirked.

"Amazing?" Ethan continued what Rhyme is about to say earning him a flying shuriken towards him.

"How did you get in here with this?!" Ethan asked angrily when he skillfully caught the deadly weapon.

"Tss. I'm the sister of the CEO of this company. Duh?" she said and rolled her eyes dramtically which made Ryle and laugh.

She turned to me and raised an eyebrow.

"Just like yesterday, you won't get any answer," I strictly told her and turned to the papers that needed my signature

"Kuya! It's just a yes or no! It’s just so simple! Are you married to that woman? Yes or no?!” she asked frustratedly. I sigh and look at her again

"Does it matter?" I asked.

She gaped at me as if she can’t believe what I just said. Her eyes and nose are red. I know she’s on the verge of crying because of her frustration towards me.

"Oh gad. Of course it matters! You’re my brother and I didn’t even know you got married? Does Mom and Dad even knew about this?" she asked.

"They don't have to. It doesn’t matter anymore because we’re done already. She doesn’t matter anymore. It’s been 9 long years." I told her and turned my swivel chair so she can only see my back. I don't want her to see how miserable I am.

"Mom doesn't know her?" she asked again. I felt Ryle stood up and come to me.

I faced them again but focus my attention on the papers in front of me.

"No. She never knew about her because I never got the chance to introduce her to them. Even Dad doesn't know her. Only Ethan knew about her and our wedding." and of course, her brother Liam.

I felt the stare of the three of them which made me look at them.

"Why?" takang tanong ko sa mga ito.

"I thought you told your mother about her," Ethan said.

"I didn't. I realize it doesn't matter anymore since she's no longer with me," I said and shrugged my shoulders but he remained staring at me intently.

"Bro, that girl knew the movement of Melodic Death," Ryle said

"I use the Melodic Death that Mom taught us. Mom and I were the only person who knew Melodic Death and also you who never use it by the way," said Rhyme while rolling her eyes again.

"You actually use that move for an initiation?" I asked. Amazed that she actually had to use that move. It's been a long time since she last use that move. It only means that Cassie is too strong for my sister

"Because it's the only way I knew to defeat her! She's so strong, Kuya. I think he can even put a fight with you. That’s why I was forced to use that move on her. But she still defeated me! It's like she actually knew Melodic Death "

"She's the only person in our world who defeated that move. That move which is created by your mother," Ryle said again

My mind worked instantly. I don't recall telling her about Melodic Death. Yes, she knew everything about our gang. We never hide a thing to her. It’s like she is also part of the gang because of the knowledge she has. I also thought her basic martial arts. I told her the things that my mother told me. She became interested in oir world but eventually hated it when she came to know the danger it could bring us. Still, I don't recall telling her about Melodic Death.

"Maybe someone else knew that move," I told them.

"Don't be absurd. You knew that your Mom is the only person who knew that move. She is the creator of that move and she taught that move to the two of us. Just the twoof us. Not even Dad!”

"So what? You're saying Mom knew her? That she is the one who taught that move to her?" I asked which made them silent

"There's only one way to find out. I'll ask Mama about her and you ask your wife about Mama," she said teasingly and left us with Ryle following her.

I held my temple. This is so much for having nothing to do with her!

"So, should I call her now?" Ethan asked teasingly and I just showed my middle finger earning a laugh from him
