The Councils Decision

1186 Words
"She is a curse! The Temple’s holy army is gathering at our border, and we cannot afford to burn the entire Blood Moon pack for a single, broken omega!" Thomas's voice bellowed through the great council hall. The elder stood at the center of the semicircular chamber, his fists slammed hard against the stone table. The torches along the damp walls flickered wildly, casting long, nervous shadows across the faces of the gathered pack leaders. "She is my mate," Caleb replied. His voice was not loud, but it was thick with a deadly, vibrating menace that made the air in the chamber grow cold. He sat on his black stone throne, his dark eyes fixed on Thomas like a predator targeting its prey. The wounds beneath his half-buckled armor were closed, but the scent of blood, cedar, and gunpowder still clung to him. "A mate you claimed out of spite, Alpha!" Thomas argued, his chest heaving as he tried to stand his ground against Caleb's pressure. "She was rejected by the Silver Fang. She was mute. Now she transforms into some beast and destroys the Temple’s sacred weapons. They are calling her a demon. If we hand her over, we can negotiate a truce." Caleb’s fingers tightened on the armrest of his stone throne. A sharp c***k echoed through the hall. Under the sheer force of his grip, the solid black granite shattered, crumbling into dust and small pebbles that rattled against the floor. Caleb stood up, his massive frame towering over the council. A wave of oppressive, suffocating Alpha aura rolled off him, slamming into the elders like a physical blow. "Who among you wants to hand her over?" Caleb growled, his voice a dark rumble that shook the stone pillars. "Step forward. Let me see who wishes to challenge my claim." Silence fell over the room. The elders shrank back, their ears flattening, their instincts screaming at them to submit. Even Thomas took a half-step backward, his jaw tight as he sweated under the pressure. None of them wanted to face Caleb's wrath. Yet, the fear of the Temple's imminent crusade still hung in their eyes. Before Thomas could speak again, the heavy oak doors at the back of the chamber groaned. The sound of iron hinges moving slowly drew every eye in the room. The guards at the entrance stepped back, their heads bowing immediately. Natalia walked into the council hall. She wore a simple, heavy black wool cloak over her shoulders, but as she stepped into the torchlight, she looked nothing like the fragile, broken girl they had first brought to the keep. Her silver hair fell in soft waves around her shoulders, and a faint, almost imperceptible white-gold light seemed to cling to her skin. Her scent, the pure, refreshing fragrance of rain-washed freesia and cold spring water, drifted ahead of her, instantly cutting through the tense, sweaty atmosphere of the room. Thomas stiffened, his eyes narrowing as she approached. "This is a closed war council, girl. You have no right to be here." Natalia did not stop. Her posture was erect, her steps light but filled with an innate grace. Her gold-rimed golden eyes locked onto the elder. As she reached the center of the hall, the faint pressure of her Saint Wolf bloodline began to radiate from her. It was not violent like Caleb’s, but it was deep, ancient, and absolute. The wolves in the room felt their blood run hot, their bodies instinctively wanting to lower themselves before her. "Elder Thomas," a voice spoke. The room gasped. Several elders jumped to their feet, their eyes wide with disbelief. The voice was low, slightly raspy from disuse, but it was clear, cold, and carried an undeniable authority. The mute girl, the silent omega they had all looked down upon, was speaking. Natalia stopped paces away from Thomas, her chin tilted up. She raised her hand, her deep sea-iron wristband catching the light as she gestured toward the map of their borders spread across the table. "You think the Temple will offer you peace if you hand me over?" Natalia said, her gold eyes flashing with cold intelligence. "You think they will spare a pack of shifters after they have marched their army to your gates? They do not want a compromise. They want your submission. They want your extinction." Thomas’s mouth opened, but no words came out. He was frozen, utterly mesmerized and terrified by the raw dignity in her voice. "I am not a curse," Natalia declared, her voice rising, echoing off the high stone ceiling with a resonant power that made every wolf's heart pound. "I am the shield of Blood Moon." The declaration hung in the air, heavy and absolute. Brandon, who stood near the throne, stepped forward without a second thought. He drew his sword, holding it horizontally before him as he dropped to one knee. "Hail the True Luna," he shouted, his voice ringing with fierce loyalty. Freya, the fierce warrior who had once challenged Natalia in the courtyard, looked at her for a long moment. A look of profound respect crossed the female warrior's face. She stepped up beside Brandon, her head bowed as she knelt in submission. "Hail the True Luna," she echoed. One by one, the other elders in the room began to bow their heads. The ancient bloodline of the Saint Wolf was undeniable, and the memory of her saving their Alpha and shattering the Temple's holy chains was still fresh in their minds. Thomas looked around the room, his face pale. He looked at Caleb, who stood on the dais, his dark eyes filled with a fierce, burning pride as he stared at Natalia. Finally, Thomas looked back at the girl. The gold runes on her fingers gleamed, and the absolute weight of her presence pressed down on his shoulders. Slowly, the proud elder sank to one knee, his head bowing low. "Forgive my insolence, Luna," he muttered, his voice trembling. "We are... we are at your command." Caleb walked down the steps of the dais. He stopped beside Natalia, his massive figure contrasting with her slender shape. He reached down, his large, scarred hand sliding into hers, his fingers locking tightly with hers. The white-gold light from her skin and the dark red aura from his body seemed to twine together, forming a protective barrier around them. "The council is decided," Caleb announced, his dark eyes sweeping over the kneeling elders with cold finality. "We do not run. We do not negotiate. We prepare for war. Every warrior will be armed, and every defense will be reinforced. When the Temple arrives, we will show them what happens when they dare threaten the Blood Moon and our Luna." "Yes, Alpha!" the room roared in unison, their voices shaking the dust from the rafters. Caleb turned his head to look at Natalia, a soft, possessive smile touching his lips. Natalia looked back at him, her fingers squeezing his hand in return. She had found her voice, and she had claimed her pack. Together, they were ready to face the storm.
