Chapter 11

CELESTINE

"And now, we talk..."

I patted the seat next to me. Grayson sat down and smiled at me. I can't help admire his dark, brown hair and clear blue eyes. His chiseled jaw already sporting a 5 o'clock beard. I think I may have a little crush on him, I mean, which girl wouldn't? He turns heads wherever he goes and I'm sure the man knows it.

"Celestine, Thank you." He started.

"What for?"

"For what you told Drake earlier. He wants me to tell you that he does not mind if you don't have a wolf. The fact you acknowledge him sent him over the moon and back already! He said you like him more than me."

I had to laugh at that. "Of course I like him more than you! I can tell he's not the playboy between the two of you."

"Drake is gloating again. He says you know him better than you know me!" He then proceeded to tickle my sides.

It feels good laughing with him. "Grayson, about this morning...." I looked at him and he was looking at me intently. It seems that he is hanging on to every word I am going to say. 

"Bear with me.. I don't know where to start as this is the first time that I will be talking about me. Raise your hand if you feel bored or sleepy and I'll stop, ok?" I looked at him to see if he got the joke.

He touched my chin. "I will never get bored of you, ever. You can take your time. I can build us a shelter from the twigs and sticks we can gather if you want to stay longer. I will listen" He chuckled.

"Okay. Here goes." I take a deep breath. " Five years ago, something bad happened to me. I cannot tell you what happened exactly,,, yet. But I will, I promise.   I came out of that.... situation broken. It was so bad that I wanted to end my life, more than once..." I showed him a semicolon tattoo I have on my wrist. in between the dot and the comma, is a long scar that was evidence of what I have tried to do. Grayson took my wrist and placed a gentle kiss on it. For the first time, I did not feel disgusted or ashamed. Electricity travelled from my wrist down to my core and it shook me.

"I hated it that whenever people would look at me, they feel so sad. Like seeing me is a reminder of how helpless they are, and how helpless and weak I am. I may have came out of it breathing, but I whenever I see my family, I feel tremendous guilt for having them go through what they did. Which is why I made it my life's mission to learn how to fight back. I would never want to feel that I need to rely on another person for my well being. I want to be equipped so that if my monsters come back, I slay them myself."

"You don't have to feel that anymore. You have me. I will protect you.." Grayson assured me.

"Thank you, Grayson. I know you would. Finding out we are mates does not change that drive, if not, it fuels me more." I gave him a small smile before I continue. "Shawn trained me hard, so for me, please do not get angry at him. I really did not give him any choice. If he didn't step up, I would just have to run away and learn somewhere else. I'm sure you can tell by now I do not take NO for an answer. Father agreed it will be best that I get my way here, in the pack, where everyone can keep an eye on me instead of self destructing elsewhere."

I can tell Grayson is battling with his emotions right now. His jaw tensed but he spoke. "Thank you for telling me this. I did not know it before so I did not understand what was going on. Honestly, it still does not sit well with me knowing you or your pack will let you get hurt like that, but I appreciate the wisdom behind it. You are far stronger than I can ever imagine."

"I am still in the process of healing, Grayson. I hope you can accept and understand that too. Since we are in the subject of honesty, this..." I pointed to him and me- "This scares me to death. I don't think I can ever be a good match for you, Grayson. You do not deserve a human, and a broken one at that- as a mate. I'm sure your pack has never had a human Luna before. I am afraid that I will just bring you down." Saying these finally gets some weight off my chest, but it makes me so sad at the same time.

I had to get up because being this close to him is killing me and what I am about to say will be my undoing.

"Grayson, I want you to know that from the bottom of my heart, I or my family will not hate you or blame you if you reject..." I did not get to finish my sentence. Grayson stood up and captured my lips with his.

His kiss was urgent, demanding. It was driving me crazy! What was I saying again? I totally lost it when his tongue demanded entry, which I willingly gave him. He let out a growl as he pulled me closer to him. We were both breathless as he broke the kiss. His eyes are dark and not the sky blue ones that I am used to.

"Celestine, I have just found you. I want no one but you. I don't know what I have to do or say to make you believe that I am in, 100%. The Moon Goddess gave you to me because you're my perfect match. Please, give me a chance. Give us a chance." I do not know how to respond to that. "I have never met anyone who can be my better Luna than you. I have never met anyone as smart, as brave, as beautiful as you. Goddess don't you know how lucky I feel right now having you as my mate? You are a born leader, you built an empire with your own hands. You're so bad ass -Lara Croft's got nothing on you!" He chuckled.

Heat creeps up my cheeks. I love it how Grayson can make me smile and can turn dour situations lighter. "Are you really sure about this?" I disengaged from his embrace.

"Baby, believe me. You are the most important thing to me, which is why I am letting you set the pace. If we were up to me, I had already mated and marked you the moment I found you"

I let out a sigh. "Before you came along, I'm already resolved that I would not get married. I cannot in good conscience have someone else carry my burden along with me. Nobody deserves that. You are a good man, Grayson. I think, maybe I am willing to try placing my bets on you..." He smiled so wide it's blinding.

"I'll take that." and then his lips are on me again and we shared a passionate kiss until we decided that it's time to head back.

We headed back to the sign and I waived back to the tree and gave a thumbs up. It's just then that he noticed the red blinking light perched on one of the tree's branches.

"There are cameras here?" His eyes wide.

"Yep."

"And they heard and saw everything?"

"Yep. But it's just Colin manning security for this area right now. I'm sure he turned off the audio. He hates cringey stuff. But I'm sure he saw us making out. Is the Alpha embarrassed? " I nudged him with my elbow.

"Hell no, if you're not bothered." I shook my head o reassure him.

"Go shift now so we can head back" Again, I turned around. Grayson in wolf form is just as spectacular as his human form! I can't help run my hand through his fur that feels so amazingly soft.

"Soooo Fluuuffeeeeeh!" I ruffled his neck and gave his snout a kiss before picking up his clothes, stuffing my bag and revved up my bike and headed back home.
