AVA'S POV
"Alpha Charles Taylor was my mate? I had never imagined that." He stood like a gentle man staring at me like he hadn't seen a lady before. He is 6 '5 "feet tall and very handsome with a scar on his right cheek. I wasn't that tall, so I gazed up at him. I've never felt so short as I do now.
"Hello there," he greeted with a charming smile. "I haven't seen you around here before. What's your name?" he asked me, stepping forward.
His eyes glared at my body, as he snapped his hand across my face when I didn't respond to him."I'm talking to you," he said, in a louder tone.
"I'm Ava, "Heat crept up my cheeks as I replied.
"You must be an Omega, I guess," He says, this time waiting for a quick answer. "Yes, I'm an Omega." I couldn't let him know who I truly was, not now. No matter how tempting it was.
"Well, Ava, that dress looks expensive for just an Omega." He said in suspicion. His eyes were still fixated on me. I couldn't help but smile. "Ashley gave it to me as a gift." I lied, taking a step backward, almost bumping into a waitress.
"Be careful!" He grabs me and pulls me to himself. The intense aura around him seemed to suck the air out of me. His being so close to me gave me a weird feeling. Is this how having a mate felt, or is it just my imagination playing out? I pulled away from him immediately.
His expression turned serious and I thought that he had felt It too. He got hold of my hand in a tight grip, and he said," I, Charles Taylor, reject you, Ava, as my mate.
I was filled with shock and stood for a minute and realized what had just happened. The party was over and everyone was about to return to their packs. I heard people who were passing, gasping in awe and I looked around me and saw a lot of pitiful eyes on me.
Am I dreaming, or is this reality? I thought to myself. I just met my mate, but I've been rejected. I could feel tears building up in my eyes.
"Why, Why, Why? Why did you reject me?" I ask. Tears streamed down my cheeks uncontrollably
"I'm sorry, Ava, but I can't be your mate. An Omega can't be my mate." Alpha Charles blurted out. " Take a look at yourself. You're so weak, I could easily knock you out, with less effort. That's not the type of Luna I need." The moon goddess must be really mad for giving me a weak wolf and an Omega as my mate."
His mean words felt like a stab to my heart, and all I could do was shed uncontrollable tears.
"What can an Omega offer me and my pack members?" he continues, then looks down at me with so much anger in his eyes, like I am worthless or something. " With you as my Luna, I'll lose the respect of my pack. You're just going to ruin my legacy and turn me into some crap. That will never happen. So you should get used to this rejection and we both go our separate ways like this horrible meeting never occurred."
His words were hurtful, I was quivering with raw emotion. Why is he rejecting me? Was I not the daughter of an Alpha? I wanted to say that aloud, but I knew I couldn't because he would not believe me. His horrible words rang inside my head. I wanted to growl and Force him to accept me, but I couldn't.
"No! You can't do this to me, Charles! I will make sure you'll regret this!
"I, Ava, also reject you, Charles Taylor as my mate! The moon goddess will be sure you will never see peace and also a loving mate." I said, filled with rage.
I turned and walked away from him, tears blurred my vision as I ran towards my room while crying and slamming the door behind me when I entered.
With my heart still heavy from the fresh wounds of rejection, I wanted nothing more than to wallow in my sorrow.
Luna heard my sobs and entered the room, her eyes filled with concern, as she gently asked, "Ava, what's wrong?"
I wiped away my tears, trying to hide my pain. "It's nothing, Luna," I whispered, but my trembling voice gave me away, mucus dripping from my nose.
Luna wasn't one who easily accepted half-truths, and she knew me better than anyone else. She persisted, her voice in a soft tone. "Ava, you can talk to me. I can see that you are troubled."
I was so emotionally down that I could not endure keeping it within myself, so I decided to tell her the truth ." Could you imagine, Alpha Charles is my mate…..and he rudely rejected me." My voice was coarse and choking due to how agonized I was.
Luna sat close to me and after listening to what I had said, she was shocked. Gently patting my back, she whispered." It must be really painful. I'm sorry you had to experience such, Ava."
I was still crying heavily, and I began to hiccup, finding it difficult to say anything. "I thought he was the one," I lamented, "but he doesn't want me just because I am an Omega and not his f**cking type."
Luna embraced me tightly, which made me feel safe. "You're strong, Ava. You're still the same amazing person, whether he sees it or not."
A few minutes later, there was a sharp knock on the door. Luna looked at me before she stood to open the door. As the door swung open, Ashley stormed in violently.
"Where is that good-for-nothing Omega who wants to take my fiancé away from me?" she spat, I could see the anger in her eyes.
Luna stepped forward, trying to defend me. "Miss Ashley, please, calm down. Ava's been through a lot tonight."
Ashley's eyes were staring at me, and her lips curled into a wicked smile. "So, it's true then? You think you can have what's rightfully mine and get away with it?"
"I'm glad he rejected you because you know why? you are fu**cking not worth it ." She said and walked out.
I turned to Luna, who was also waiting for me to say something. "Luna, I can't stay here any longer," I finally found words. "I need to leave this pack. I can't bear the humiliation and pain any longer."
Luna's eyes widened because she knew the danger of leaving the pack. "Ava, it's too risky. If they catch you trying to escape, they won't hesitate to kill you."
I knew the risks, but I couldn't stay In my pack where I was treated like an outcast by my own family. "I can't stay, Luna. I need to leave, are you coming with me?" I asked her.
She sighed, realizing that I had made up my mind. "Alright, Ava. If you're so bent on leaving, I'll go with you. I can't let you go alone, besides I have no one here."
