I must find her

1520 Words
CHARLES POV I was enjoying the event, and also the musicals. Then suddenly, I felt a pull that I couldn't just ignore. After all my years as an Alpha, I've never felt this strange before. I left the party and decided to follow the pull. The evening was pleasant, the moon was glowing. I saw a very beautiful girl approaching, she must be the most pretty girl I've seen in a long time. Her long, silvery gown flowed around her gracefully, I was breathless. As she moved closer, I couldn't help but admire her more. I wanted to know more about her and what her name was. I knew she recognized me because I was popular, feared, and well-respected Alpha. "Hello there," I greeted with a warm smile, my eyes never leaving her. "Well, I haven't seen you around here before. What's your name?" Her eyes were green and charming, she was reluctant to reply to me and I had to show her that I was in charge so I snapped my fingers at her. "I'm talking to you," I said, very loudly. "I'm Ava," She replied, her voice was out of this world, so seductive, and immediately I couldn't help but gaze down at her. She was shorter than me but it was perfect for her sexy body. "You must be an Omega, I assume," I asked her, hoping to hear that she was an Alpha's daughter. But unfortunately, she nodded with a smile. "Yes, I'm just an Omega," she admitted, though she looked so unsure of herself. "Well, Ava, that dress looks expensive for just an ordinary Omega," I observed and asked her. "Uhm, Ashley gave it to me as a gift," she replied. Sadly, I couldn't accept her as my mate because she was an Omega, and I was already engaged to Ashley. The words that came out of my mouth were so mean, and I instantly regretted them. It was too late to take them back, and I felt the weight of my actions. Ava's eyes were filled with tears. I had hurt her deeply, I know. And in return, she rejected me also and walked away, it stung just as much as my rejection had hurt her. As Ava had gone, I felt like running after her to apologize but I couldn't. Besides, I was already engaged to Ashley. "Hey! I heard a voice behind me, it sounded more like Ashley's and my guess was right, talk of the devil, and she appeared. I hugged her and kissed her, but she refused to kiss me back." I saw you talking with Ava, I'm curious to know what your business is with her." She kept looking at me waiting for an answer. "I'm an Alpha, and I talk to whoever I want to talk to," was my reply but on second thought, I decided to spill it to her. "Ava is my mate," I admitted. "But I... I had to reject her. I couldn't choose her over you." I said calmly, as my hands were holding her waist. She drew closer to me this time and hugged me so tight, her voice quivered with emotion. "Promise me, Charles, that you'll never leave me. Promise me that you'll always choose me." I slowly smiled at her and replied; "I promise you, Ashley, you are the one I love, you are strong and capable to be my Luna and not some Omega of a girl." I could feel my heartbeat increase because I knew I never meant what I just said to Ashley. Ashley told me that she needed to go somewhere and left me, her kiss still lingering on my lips. As she walked away, my mind kept drifting back to Ava. It was as if she had imprinted herself on my thoughts, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I had made a grave mistake. The party was finally over, and I needed to go back home to pack, though I had a meeting with Alpha Darius I"'ll tell him that something came and we'll reschedule it for another day. So I reached for my phone and called my beta, Asher. "Come meet me outside, I can't stay any longer, come and drive me home." In no time, he arrived. We got to my pack, and I was warmly welcomed, pack members showing their utmost respect. My mother, Elizabeth, sensed that something was wrong so she decided to find out what was wrong. "Charles, is everything alright?" she asked, her eyes filled with concern. I gave her a fake smile. "I'm fine, Mom. Just had a lot on my mind." Asher, however, was not so easily convinced. He discreetly excused himself and later joined me outside. "What's going on, Alpha?" he asked, worried. I hesitated for a moment and didn't want to tell him either. "It's a personal matter, Asher. I'll deal with it on my own. Don't worry about it." Asher had no choice but to respect my opinion, so he left immediately. My thoughts were still consumed by Ava, and I couldn't shake off the desire to see her again. Anna, my younger sister, found me sitting outside after Asher had left. She is good at teasing, and she never hesitates. "How was the party, big brother?" a sly grin on her face. "Or did your crush break your heart?" I couldn't help but chuckle at her jokes. Anna had always been cheerful, carefree, and happy unlike me whose life is full of responsibilities. If my dad hadn't died earlier, I could still be free and have more time to party, flirt with girls, and enjoy life. But here I am, an Alpha who rejected his mate "You know, Anna, something happened at the party. I met someone, and it left me thinking ." She raised an eyebrow, her teasing expression turning into one of genuine interest. "Tell me more. Who's this someone, and what happened?" Taking a deep breath, I decided to confide in her."Anna, I met my mate today, but there's a problem. She's an Omega, and you know that I'm already engaged to Ashley right?" "Yeah, I'm fully aware," she nodded. Anna was still confused and curious to know what my point was, "So, what's the issue? You can't just leave Ashley." I sighed. "It's not that simple. Ava, my mate, she's... she's something else, Anna. She captured my heart in a way I can't quite put my hands on." "But you rejected her, right? Anna questions, as she tries as much as possible to understand the difficulty of the situation. I nodded, still regretting my actions.."Yes, I rejected her. And, in turn, she rejected me. I don't know what to do.", I stood up from the place I was sitting, "She is the most beautiful girl I might have seen." I sighed heavily. "Awww! My brother is in love." She started to tease me and she placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Charles, From the looks of things, you're in a tough spot. But remember, your duty to the pack comes first. Don't forget the engagement and promises you made to Ashley, and you can't just break it. And maybe with time, things might work themselves out." I looked at Anna and smiled, "Thank you for your support, you just made my day." She blushed because I rarely compliment her no matter what she does. I changed the conversation to her day. "So, how did your day go, Anna? I inquired. Anna's eyes lit up as she recounted her day. "Oh, it was a blast! I met up with my friends, and we did some shopping. It's been so great, and before I forget, your dinner is ready, you should come to eat." She said to me. I didn't eat much at the party though, and talking with my Ava alone had made me hungry. I finally stood and went to the dining room to eat my food. I picked up my phone halfway through lunch and called Asher. "I need you to do something for me," I said to him. "Of course, Alpha. What do you need?" He replied. I hesitated for a moment, then made my request. "I need you to go back to the Silver City pack and find out more about this girl called Ava, especially where she stays. I need you to be very fast. It's important." I couldn't focus on my meal anymore and lost my appetite, so I decided to stand up and pace back and forth, contemplating. No lady had rejected me no matter what, except Ava. She doesn't act like an Omega either. There's something about her that I can't comprehend. After what felt like hours, there was a knock on the door, and Asher entered my room. I immediately turned to him. "What did you find out?" "I'm afraid Ava is nowhere to be found. They're seriously searching for her, no one seems to know where she is." The news got me more devastated, I must have been the reason she left. "I must find her," I said to myself.
