Chapter One
Hazel's POV
My head spun around a thousand times as I staggered haphazardly in the lively club, I tried to scream out for help but my voice was drowned by the blaring music that resonated through the space. I navigated through the pool of excited people making the best of their nights dancing and doing all sort of things but my eyes were not functioning optimally and a deep feeling churned in the pit of my stomach and then I bumped into someone.
I raised my head to see the most handsome man I'd ever set my eyes upon and I was instantly stricken, the feeling of panic and desperation to leave instantly got replaced by the urge to melt in his arm, without thinking; I threw myself into his embrace and surprisingly, he froze for a moment and calmly tore me off him, he stared at me with those ruthless sexy eyes which increased my want for him.
"What do you think you're doing?" He asked, firmly. His voice loud and drowning out the surrounding noise.
I placed an index finger over his soft plush lips and chuckled.
"Shush, don't say another word and I'll show you a whole new world." I said, flirtatiously.
His eyes widened in shock and I stood on my toes, kissed him fully on the lips to leave him begging for more, seeing that he was dazzled by me, I held his hands and began to walk out the club with him trailing behind, my steps were still haphazard as I was giggling at nothing. He suddenly halted and glared at me. The next month, he swept me off my feet and began to walk towards a direction I had no idea where it lead to. I hugged him tightly, embracing his scent.
The next minute I opened my eyes, I was in a bed, a king-sized bed with him removing the heavy layer of his dress, I bit my lips seductively and stood up, to meet him. He was shocked as I rubbed my tender breasts against his chest and tried to caution me but I dragged him using his tie and we both fell on the bed, without wasting time, I began to straddle him and with a growl and little warning, he took over, showing me how manly he really was.
"You asked for this." His words resonated in my head.
Rays of light penetrated into the room and shone on my eyes which fluttered open as an innate response and a horrible wave of headache washed over me and I groaned softly. I lay there for a moment numb and trying to gather my thoughts, I turned over and observed the room and seeing it was different, I panicked, my nerves kicking in but paused as the events of the past night came flooding my memory.
I screamed, horrified. I recounted as Crystal had cajoled me into drinking some celebratory wine with her and then we went to a club. I gasped realizing the implications of my actions, I had gotten drunk and lost my most prized treasure to a stranger. I instantly looked around the room, hoping to find traces of him but there was none. He probably thought of me as a w***e as I saw a wad of cash on the table. I quickly picked up what's left of me and dashed out the room, relieved I wasn't facing him this morning.
Getting back home, Crystal welcomed me with a smirk and began to pester me about my whereabouts which i ignored and locked myself in my room instead, I was losing my mind and couldn't bear to tell anyone about it. I took a bath and slept off, calling in sick that day. I pretended all was fine and I was just down with a cold for the rest of the day and the next day I went to work.
I worked as a designer at G&K Company, a world-class empire owned by New York's finest and most ruthless. My boss was known to be business oriented hence making a name for himself though I'd never seen him before since he only sends a representative in his stead. Work at the rebranding department was heaven to me since it saved me from the pressures and condemnations of my family, it was my escape route.
When I got back from work that day, my parents were seated in the living room, as if awaiting a presence and a strange man was also sitting with them, he smiled as he saw me approach and I was beckoned up to sit with them.
"He wants your hand in marriage." Dad announced.
I laughed, since it sounded funny to me. The man dad pointed at was a man in his mid-forties, bald, scrawny looking but cleaned up quite nice.
"Is this some sort of joke? Papa, Mama, I'll like to play around but I've had a rally long day at work and I'll like to get some rest, so I'll take my leave."
"Don't you dare leave!" Dad barked.
I swallowed hard and sat down, my butt glued to the chair as I watched in horror, my Dad arrange my marriage with the man, I wasn't allowed to partake in the discussion and Crystal walked in much later and instead of taking my side; she added fuel to the fire and went as far as picking a date and making the budget for it.
"She looks beautiful, it's a great choice, your boss." Crystal commented.
"Of course, he loves her a lot and unconditionally." The man replied.
"But why isn't he coming by himself?" Mom asked, curiously.
"He's busy with work and all and has promised to come see you once you've agreed to this, he sent an engagement ring as well." The man said and produced a box which contained a shiny diamond ring.
My parent's eyes shone with greed seeing this luxury and they laughed.
"Take the ring dear, it's for you." Dad uttered, selfishly.
Tears welled in my eyes seeing how I was being exchanged for nothing and when I couldn't bear it any longer, I screamed.
"I am not getting married to any old rich man! How dare you try to sell your daughter's future for this? Don't you-"
Pah!
I was cut short as a slap landed across my face and I looked up to see my dad breathing heavily and looking angry.
"You're old enough to get married and while your mates bring home a groom we have to find one for you so you'll do nothing but keep quiet and do your part as a daughter and get married else I'll murder you myself." Dad thundered.
I looked at Mom but she scoffed at me and Crystal's eyes held mockery and resent, tears flowed freely down my cheeks seeing that my fate was sealed, I ran away and locked myself in my room, crying profusely. The following days, I tried to convince my parents otherwise but instead, my life was a living hell and they only focused on Crystal and allowed her to make her choices all by herself.
A week later, an elaborate wedding gown was sent to my room and I was ordered to dress up since I was getting married that day, I cried my eyes out but my parent's threats kept resounding in my ears even as I reluctantly out on the dress. Crystal did my make up and offered me some tips on how to please older men.
With a sinking feeling in the out of my stomach, I walked into the church as a bride, awaiting her doom. As Dad walked me to the altar, the groom turned to receive us and I almost passed out in shocked seeing who it was.
"Kai Xavier!"
