Chapter Four
Hazel's POV
"Dad, I swear to you that I didn't intentionally push Crystal!" I cried bitterly, desperately wanting my indignant father to believe my words. He yanked his hands free from mine causing me to stagger backwards and fall.
I rushed to my feet and hurried towards Olivia and held her hands.
"Please Mom, tell dad, let him understand that I'd never do such an atrocious thing!" I pleaded.
She slowly took my hands off her as shrugged, wearing a smug expression.
"I don't know Hazel, you've never been accommodative towards Crystal, I thought maybe it was because she isn't your blood sister but this proves that your hatred for her runs deeper than just that, how could do such to her? Kai is generous enough to take her to the hospital to our behalf." Olivia uttered.
I crashed on the ground and wept bitterly, everything I lived for was crashing right in front of my eyes and there was nothing I could do, after the humiliation and disgrace I received from Kai, I came to my parents to plea with them but turned out that Crystal had called them aforehand and told her own twisted side of the story. Dad's phone rang and I could see the expression on his face turn sour.
"Leave! Leave this house and never come back, henceforth; I disown you." He bellowed, angrily.
I was lost for words and tried to beg but he thundered and I saw a dark side of him I never knew existed, Olivia just stood behind and watched him throw me out of the house.
"I have no where to go!"
"I don't care, you should have thought about that before endangering your sister, if your husband doesn't want you then we have no relations with you, leave." Dad spat bitterly before shitting the door at my face.
I stayed by the door banging and pleading for hours but got no response, a sharp pain tore through my lower abdomen and I remembered that I wasn't alone, I was carrying another life inside of me. The sky thundered and it began to rain heavily. I had no where to go, no where to fall to and nothing to start with, I was homeless, a technical husband and a discarded wife, with a heavy heart and desperate urge to live on, I stepped into the rain; facing my dark future.
"Mom! Wake up, we're in New York!" A little voice yelled excitedly.
My eyelids fluttered open and I saw a little girl squatting beside me and vigorously shaking my hands.
"Look Mom, the plane had landed, we're in New York!" She excitedly uttered.
I yawned and chuckled softly, another lady walked up to his and gently tore the little energized devil away from me as she had a death grip on my arm. The little girl in turn kicked in protest.
"Let go of me Sara!"
"I will, if you promise to be a good girl and stop pestering your mommy." Sara replied, enjoying the scene.
"Mommy, tell Sara to let me go."
"You have to promise not to pester me Kia." I bargained.
She pouted and muttered a promise, I signaled for Sara to let go of her and when she did, Kia came running into my embrace, happily ranting about our arrival in New York.
"Miss Hazel, the entourage is ready." Sara informed me.
I nodded and held Kia's hands as we alighted from the plane, since it was my private jet I didn't need to follow the silly strenuous procedure. I inhaled deeply and allow my lungs to feast on the air which I had long missed and Kia mimicked me. Half a dozen men ran towards us and welcomed us, ushering us to the cars while our luggage was being loaded and overseen by Sara.
"Would you like to lodge at the hotel suite or go straight to your mansion ma'am?" A chauffeur asked.
"To the mansion. I want to settle in first." I replied.
He relayed the message to the rest and without hesitation, he drove off to the destination, I stared out the window and got lost in my thoughts, drowning Kia's incessant chattering.
"It's been Five years New York, I'm back." I muttered to myself.
Kia tapped my hands which jolted me out of my reverie and continued drilling me about New York, two months prior to our departure from Japan, she had been preparing and it was obvious that she was dying to see New York, she asked a million questions and also remarked that she felt naturally drawn to New York.
When I left New York, I was still pregnant with her and life hasn't been a bed of roses hut she was the reason I survived and became a force not to be reckoned with, she was my light and my pride and I named her Kia, a play of words on her father's name and she was the exact replica of him. We arrived at my mansion and the maids received us warmly. We freshened up, ate and took a short nap.
Later that night Sara brought me a progress report on the mysterious yet fast rising company we owned I'm New York; K&H Technologies, we specialized in the creation and marketing also sales of newest technological products and made a name for ourselves. The next night was to be our official opening and the unveiling of the CEO which was me. I went through the guest list and saw Kai's name and I smirked knowing well that he's in for the shock of his life, with a huge grin on my face and Kia by my side; I slept soundly.
The next day, I went shopping for groceries though it wasn't in my place but since I missed the feeling, I decided to do it. The mart was shut down and Kia and I had a good time shopping, I also shopped for dresses and picked an exquisite gown for the event tonight which was a limited edition.
I put Sara in charge of Kia to babysit her all night since I'd probably get back by midnight and my entourage got ready to drive me to the unveiling. When I got there; the paparazzi didn't pay much attention to me since I barely made any public appearance through the years but I was sure to make an unforgettable one that night. All the guests were announced and welcomed and also introduced to the press media who were authorized to be there and I put my acting CEO in charge of announcing who I was.
Feeling thirsty; I decided to mingle with the crowd and get a drink, fortunately; I bumped into my very own favorite stepsister.
"Well, well... Well.... If it isn't Hazel, you're still alive?" Crystal uttered, her tone laced with disdain.
I snickered as I gingerly sipped from the glass of champagne I held, I opened my mouth to speak when she suddenly bumped into me on purpose causing the champagne to spill on her dress, she gasped dramatically and the voice which haunted my dreams for years resounded.
"Crystal, are you okay?" Kai rushed towards Crystal and asked then he turned to face him, his face froze.
"Hazel, you?" He blurted.
"It's a pleasure to see you too, I see you two are still together, impressive." I remarked, sarcastically.
"What are you doing here?" Kai asked, shocked.
"May I have your attention everyone, the highlight and purpose of your gathering is being unveiled at this hour, may I present to you all, the CEO of this prestigious organization, Miss Hazel Marilyn!"
"That's my cue!" I exclaimed with fake enthusiasm and walked towards the podium swaying my hips provocatively as I did.
