Chapter 3 — Team Eclipse

889 Words
The Annual Combat Team Assessment had officially begun at St. Solaris Academy. Dozens of student teams rushed into the massive obstacle field filled with walls, rope bridges, mud pits, and training zones. Teachers watched carefully from observation towers while students shouted with excitement across the academy grounds. Among all the teams… Team Eclipse moved together naturally. Almost perfectly. Storm ran at the front with endless energy. “Come on! Faster!” Sylor laughed while jumping across obstacles with incredible speed. Stone helped weaker teammates climb walls using his strength. Selena calmly carried a small medical kit while checking if anyone was injured. Shadow quietly observed every route ahead while Solaris motivated everyone whenever they became tired. Soulen walked silently beside Sam. For some strange reason… The group already felt connected. As if they had known each other for years. The first challenge was a giant climbing wall. Several teams failed to cross it properly. Students slipped and fell into the muddy ground below. Storm smirked confidently. “Easy.” He quickly climbed halfway up the wall before slipping slightly. The others immediately laughed. “Very easy,” Selena joked. Storm rolled his eyes. “Okay maybe not THAT easy.” Stone stepped forward. “Move aside.” Using his incredible strength, he pushed a broken wooden support back into place, allowing the team to cross safely. “Nice!” Sylor shouted. One by one, Team Eclipse crossed the obstacle successfully. The next challenge was the rope bridge above a deep river. Strong winds shook the bridge dangerously. Several students from other teams became too scared to cross. Sylor smiled confidently. “This one is mine.” He quickly crossed the bridge with amazing balance before helping the others move safely across. Even teachers watching from above looked impressed. “Excellent teamwork,” one teacher commented. The competition continued for hours. Slowly, Team Eclipse started moving ahead of every other group. During a short break near the forest checkpoint, everyone sat down to rest. Storm immediately grabbed extra food from his bag. “I’m starving.” Selena sighed. “You’re always hungry.” Storm pointed at Stone. “At least I’m not eating as much as him.” Stone looked completely serious while holding multiple sandwiches. “I need energy.” Everyone suddenly started laughing. Even Sam smiled slightly. For the first time in a long time… He felt peaceful. Solaris looked around at the group. “You know something strange?” Everyone looked at him. “It feels like we’ve met before.” Silence filled the group for a moment. Sam’s expression changed slightly. Because… He felt the exact same thing. Soulen quietly looked at the sky. “Maybe destiny brought us together.” Storm laughed loudly. “Or maybe we’re just the strongest students here.” Shadow finally spoke after staying silent most of the day. “Confidence is good.” He slowly looked at Storm. “But overconfidence is dangerous.” Storm smirked. “Then good thing I’m amazing.” Selena threw a small piece of bread at him. “Idiot.” Everyone laughed again. As the sun slowly began setting, the final challenge remained ahead. At the center of the field stood the giant iron flag. But dozens of teams were already fighting to capture it first. “Looks like the real competition starts now,” Sylor said excitedly. Storm cracked his knuckles. “Finally.” The teachers blew loud whistles. “FINAL ROUND!” Students rushed toward the flag from every direction. Chaos immediately erupted across the field. Some teams pushed each other. Others blocked paths or argued loudly. But Team Eclipse stayed calm. “Stick together,” Sam said seriously. Everyone nodded. For some reason… When Sam spoke, the others naturally listened. Stone cleared a path through the crowd while Sylor distracted nearby teams with his speed. Selena helped teammates avoid traps while Shadow found the safest route toward the center. Storm jumped forward and grabbed the iron flag tightly. “We got it!” But another team suddenly rushed toward him. Before they could attack— Sam stepped in front of Storm calmly. “Enough.” Something about his voice made the other students stop immediately. The teachers blew the final whistle. “TIME OVER!” The entire field became silent. Then— “WINNERS: TEAM ECLIPSE!” Students across the academy cheered loudly. Storm raised the flag proudly. “We actually won!” Sylor jumped excitedly. Stone smiled for the first time all day. Selena laughed softly. Even Shadow looked slightly impressed. The teachers walked toward them. “One day,” the principal said proudly, “this team may become the strongest group our academy has ever seen.” As the sun disappeared behind the mountains, Team Eclipse sat together near the academy field celebrating their victory. Storm kept talking nonstop. Selena argued with him constantly. Sylor kept making jokes. Stone quietly continued eating. For the first time… They truly felt like friends. Sam looked at all of them silently. Deep inside his heart… A strange warmth appeared. He didn’t understand why. But somehow… This felt like the beginning of something important. Far away… Inside a dark abandoned church… A hooded figure watched them through a black mirror. The figure slowly smiled. “So…” “The eight have finally reunited.”
