THE QUEST

CHAPTER NINE

(ANNA)

The drive home was quiet everyone has a lot on their mind. I especially can’t stop thinking about a specific person with ocean blue eyes and the body made for gods. Will I be able to sacrifice myself for him and his people? I don’t think so, what does it even mean to break a curse with a blood sacrifice, does it means I have to die? I just have a lot of questions that can’t be answered cause no one know the answer to it. I don’t think he even know what it means either. Am just too young to die for someone I just met a few hours ago.

Few minute later Cassandra and Sia drop from the van to take a cab to their place.

“You can drop us at the next intersection we will get a cab there.”

“We will take you to your place, it’s on the same road to our estate.” Scott replied.

Few minutes later they drop us at the entrance of my apartment and left.

On getting inside Sasha turn to me asking. “What’s going on between you and Scott I notice you two checking each other out secretly, is he your mate?”

“Jesus girl, don’t you know how to take things slow? I just met the guy today, I don’t even know what a mate means until a few days ago.”

“But what if he’s your mate? What are you going to do?”

“I don’t know; I still haven’t figure that out yet but one thing at a time, I think it’s time for me to speak with the guardians and know what they also want from me.

Finding the guardians wasn’t hard they were so obvious, standing a few distance away from my apartment and they kept staring at me as I move towards them.

“Who is in charge here? I would like to speak with him/her,” I said to a blonde guy who was staring at me in surprise, I guess he thought they blend in with the rest of my neighbors.

“I’m in charge” said a girl close to my height, with long platinum hair and the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen, it’s like staring at ice.

“I’m Anna, would you mind coming in so we can talk, I have a lot of questions for you.”

“No problem, after you.”

“I will like to start with the night you people were attack at my alley, is it true it was me you came for that day?”

“Yes it’s true, I guess you’ve met some of the elementals that escape that day.”

“I didn’t get a chance to meet any of them, but I met their master who told me the elementals he sent for me told him there were guardians at my place keeping watch of me when they got there, I would really love to know why.”

“A few months ago before you came to New York city my grandmother who is a seer said someone is coming and she’s going to be the new guardian of New York. Since the death of the old guardian seven years ago New York has no permanent guardian of its own and every guardian who have been trying to fill the position temporary all fail to guard the city well, it will take someone extraordinary to guard the city.”

“And what make you think am that person?”

“My grandmother describes you and the day you arrive she felt your presence and ask us to check up on you, we came to the airport and saw you there you have no idea how relieve and happy we were, but we couldn’t approach you then we want you to settle down.”

“We send some of our people to watch over you till we know you are ready and only then can we approach you, then the elementals show up at your place and you know the rest.”

“I thought they were after the pregnant woman.”

“No, they have the woman and her little child with them before showing up at your place, we merely save the woman and protect you.”

“How did you know am the one they were after?”

“They were looking at your apartment building, some try to levitate to your window but we stop them, we still don’t know the full details of what’s going on but I think you do, so I would like for you to tell me about it.”

I told her about the curse, the wing creature and also about the clorocons. She was surprise at what I was telling her, after my explanations she was looking at me with pity. I also felt pity for myself but what’s done is done it’s not like I can run home, that will just bring problem to my family.

“So that’s why the hybrid is here.”

“Who?”

“Scott Sinclair he is well known among shifter and mage since he is both.”

“What kind of shifter is he?”

“Panther, and don’t worry, if he is your mate or the other male are, none of them will put your life in danger, supernatural love their mates, they are special to them and precious.”

“What if they don’t have a choice?”

“Am sure they will find a way, for the blood sacrifice am not sure you will have to be drained of your blood. But I think it’s time for you to go for the warrior¬-guardian quest.”

“What’s that.”

“It’s a quest every guardian goes through to be an official guardian and warrior.”

“Who will I be guarding?”

“The humans and supernatural being in New York of course.”

“Supernatural? Have you met them, am sure they can take care of themselves.”

“Am one of them, and not all can take care of themselves there are a lot of supernatural who need a guardian and someone to look after them. Not everything that goes on in the city the council are aware of, some feel more comfortable speaking with the guardians than the council.”

“I get your point, today I found out that the council is not aware of the clorocons.”

“Exactly, that’s where a guardian comes in, it’s your responsibilities to protect those people from getting killed.”

“What, how can I do that alone and how will I know when they are being kidn*pped?”

“You won’t be working alone, every guardian of every state have a subordinate working with them they have different position, there is the inquisitor that inquire information from people and the investigator who investigate further on the information and enforcer that will work with you on taking action on a situation and there are others.”

“That’s why every guardian go on a quests, during this quest you will be bestow with ability that suit your persona, each guardian has different abilities, there are some who can control different elements, some have sight like my grandmother while some have sense, they can sense if something bad is about to happen, there are also some other gift.”

“What about you, why can’t you protect this city?”

“Am not a guarding, am an enforcer, when you take your position as the new guardian of New York I will be working with you.”

“Why don’t you go for the guardian quest?”

“Not everyone goes for the quest, guardians are known from birth, they have a mark on them, every guardian does.”

“What about the rest of you?”

“We go for training and the result of the training will decide our position.”

“When is this quest?”

“Anytime you are ready, there is always a quest every month, people always emerge to take their position as an official guardian.”

“Can my friends come with me?”

“Yes they can, friends and family are allowed in the compound where the quest will take place, but they can’t follow you into the veil.”

“What’s the veil?”

“It’s like a forest only it’s an alternate universe, that’s where you will be bestow with an ability.”

“Is there a possibility of me dying?”

“No, but you can get injured or be lost in the veil for some years.”

“WHAT!”

“It happens but rarely.”

“Alright, what of the creature can he find me in there?”

“No, he has to be invited into the veil before he can enter.”

“Ok, thank you for the information, I will get back to you soon on my decision.”

“No problem, there’s no pressure at all.” With that she left.

“Wow, that’s a lot to take in.” Sasha said as she enters the sitting room.

“Where you eavesdropping? I thought you were sleeping.”

“Yes, but I was curious, so what are you going to do with this new information.”

“Am going to take the quest, I don’t know what will happen to me but I want to do something about what’s going on.”

“I understand, I wish I can do something too I feel the only people really helping out now is Sia and Cassandra, they are both active and helping out in ways I can’t.”

“Don’t sell yourself short, you also help out, we find the griffins together.”

“Yeah we did and that was amazing.” she said with a smile, “but why did they try to erase your memory if they are still going to meet you?”

“I guess they think I was not ready yet, I’ve decide to take the quest tomorrow.”

“Why the rush, you can take the quest anytime, why don’t we solve the issue on ground first.”

“I don’t know; I just have this feeling like I should take the quest now before am preoccupied with other things. I will call the others and tell them about my decision.”

After given everyone a call telling them about what happen and my decision I started getting ready for my quest.
