IT TOOK A LITTLE more than ten days to find two qualified tenants for the duplex, and we were very pleased with the way things were going. By August fifteenth, the final two properties had been fully renovated, painted, and rented. We gave the boys a well-earned bonus, and they spent a week loafing around and going to the beach every day. When they finally headed back to the mountains, the house seemed suddenly empty. Thor, in particular, seemed to miss his summer playmates.
