The Alpha's hidden daughter

Chapter 6

* 17 / 18 year old Ashley P.O.V. *

I was in my room and looked at the moon, it was almost full and tonight was the night before my eighteenth birthday. Tomorrow would also be a full moon which meant I wasn’t the only one that would change into a wolf. But it would be my first time. I had been with the change of Dylan and Evan, it had been a painful sight to see the first time and both took them quite a while because it was the first time but the moment they had changed they were so beautiful. Unlike the wolves in Twilight, they were a normal wolf height. Dylan had been a grey wolf with a black belly and chest, his eyes brown. He was lean and very fast but also strong. Stronger than you thought at first. He now had a official rank, which was Beta even though he wasn’t the Beta of Alpha George he did operate with the Beta and helped with the duties. Evan had taken a little longer with his change but he was so beautiful when you saw his wolf. He was red with a white belly and his right upper leg was also white while the rest was red. His eyes were grey and showed a great thrust if you saw him. He also had been a Beta rang and he did too help out where he could all though he also helped the Gamma with training the kids because he really liked that.

A soft knock on my door made me look up. ‘’Come in..’’ I said and I saw Evan and aunt Charlene poke their heads past my door. ‘’We came with the same idea at the same time.. So how about some tea and cookies ?’’ Evan said and his mother held up a tray with three cups of tea and her most famous white chocolate and raspberry cookies. ‘’You two are amazing’’ I said and I made some space so they could sit with me. They came in and sat down on my large sit bags and my aunt put the tray on the ground in between us. ‘’Are you scared?’’ Evan asked as he gave me my mug and I took a sip. As always my aunt made the tea drinkable from the start, how she does it I have no clue but she was amazing with it. I enjoyed this moment and looked at them. ‘’How did you know that I could use this?’’ I asked and smiled. ‘’Well, how did you know that I needed it the night before I was turning eighteen?’’ Evan asked and I shrugged. ‘’I guess because we are family’’ I said and Evan chuckled. ‘’Well, then there you have your answer’’ he replied and I also chuckled. I then grabbed a cookie and took a large bite. ‘’Mmmm... You out did yourself aunt Char’’ I said and really enjoyed the taste of the cookie. I had learned everything I knew about cooking and baking from my aunt but she always kept being better than me. Probably because I had less patient than her.

We stayed like this for an hour or so and then my aunt got up and shooed Evan away so I had some alone time. I looked at the clock and saw it was 11:30 pm, only half an hour left before the day that I turn eighteen. I didn’t know if I would meet my wolf right away at 12 pm but I was getting excited about it. I yawned and stretched my body. ‘’Yeah... Wolf or not at 12 pm.. I need sleep’’ I said to myself and walked to my large bed. Since two years I had a larger bed and it was amazing. I sat down and kicked my slippers of and then lay down. I closed my eyes and and drifted of to a amazing slumber.

‘’Ashley...’’

‘’Ashley..... Hey Ashley...’’

‘’Wake up Ashley.. It is time to meet’’

I heard a voice in my head but I was feeling too sleepy to respond. I mumbled something she probably couldn’t understand and turned on my other side. I wanted to stay in my cozy bed, under the covers.

‘’Ashley... Hey.. Ashley’’

I heard the same voice again and sighed. I tried to ignore it again but suddenly my head was filled with a loud howling noise which caused me to sit up in a slight shock.

‘’For goddess sake! Who was that?!’’ I said out loud and looked around.

‘’That will be me.. You are one hard puppy to wake up’’ The voice said in my head and I sighed. ´´So.. You are my wolf then?’’ I asked out loud. ‘’Yes, I am.. Nice to meet you and Happy birthday’’ She said and I chuckled a bit. ‘’Thank you.. So.. What is your name?’’ I asked and got out of bed.

‘’My name is Daciana.. But you can call me Daci... Ana will get you growls and I’ll ignore everything you say’’ She said and I laughed. ‘’Oh same as when people call me Ley.. In stead of Ash’’ I said and walked to my bathroom. ‘’Yes.. So.. Are you excited to see what you look like in your wolf form tonight?’’ Daciana asked and I nodded. ‘’Yeah but I’m a little scared for the pain.. I mean, I saw the first turns of Dylan and Evan.. That seemed quite horrible’’ I admitted and grabbed my toothbrush.

‘’I understand, I saw the memories of their turns but I can tell you why they had so much pain.. They were fighting it too much.. You have the luck that the moon is full tonight, that will make the first change easier’’ Daciana said and I nodded. I started brushing my teeth. ‘’Alright.. Well, I am glad to meet you..’’ I responded, this time back in my head in stead of out loud. ´´The same counts for me.. I saw your life tonight before I started to wake you up.. I like how you and Evan are so close.. But don´t be fooled, he is not our mate..´´ Daciana said and I suddenly had the feeling I was about to throw up.

I quickly spit out the toothpaste I had in my mouth and looked at myself in the mirror. ´´Thank god he is not! He is my cousin.. Even though we are not related it would be so freaking disgusting´ I said and I could hear Daciana chuckle. ´´You said that on purpose!´´ I said and she nodded. ´´Ugh.. You are a bad wolf´´ I said and even though I heard many say their wolf would whimper at such a comment, she just started laughing. Probably because I did not mean it and she knew I did not.

I got myself ready for breakfast and put on a simple set of clothes and put my hair in a messy bun because even though it was my birthday, the normal activities went on. I jumped down the stairs and walked into the kitchen. ‘’Good morning!’’ I said very happy and sat down. ‘’Good morning sweety’’ aunt Char said and put a plate in front of me. Every birthday she made the favorite breakfast from that person and so today it was sausages, eggs, lots of bacon and toast. It sounds quite normal I know but it was my favorite! Evan walked in and gave me a hug. ‘’Happy birthday Ash’’ he said and sat down next to me.

Shortly after I heard the very recognizable sound of someone walked with a cane and I looked up seeing my ucle Charlie. ‘’Hey uncle Charlie, how are you doing?’’ I asked. I knew he had pain because the cold air always caused more pain in his bad foot but he never showed it. ‘’I am doing perfectly fine sweety, are you ready for today?’’ he asked and I nodded. ‘’Yeah, I am.. And my wolf is too’’ I said and with that, I knew I answered the question not yet asked by all my family members. ‘’Omg you met her?!’’ Evan asked and I chuckled. ‘’Yes I did.. She actually woke me up’’ I said and Evan smiled big. Sometimes his enthusiastic side made me wonder if he secretly was gay..

As we ate our breakfast I was secretly wondering where my other cousin was and just as I took my last bite, a very sleepy Dylan walked down the stairs followed by someone else. I looked up and smiled. ‘’Good Mor..’’ I said but was a little surprised that the person behind Dylan actually was a boy. ‘’Morning’’ I quickly finished my sentence. ‘’Morning Ash.. And happy birthday’’ Dylan said and gave me a hug and even a kiss on my cheek. ‘’Thank you’’ I said and looked at the other male. He was a little shorter than Dylan and had dark brown eyes, pools of dark chocolate you could say. Together with his light blond, almost white hair it was quite a sight and he followed Dylan’s movement everywhere.

‘’Morning Jack’’ Aunt Charlene said and handed the male a cup of coffee. ‘’Morning Miss Moore’’ He answered polite and smiled. ‘’Oh please, how many times now Jackie?’’ my Aunt responded and I saw him blush a little. ‘’I’m sorry Charlene..’’ he then said and suddenly I recognized him. He was my mothers assistant. Dylan saw me look and smiled. ‘’Yeah yeah Ash, I know what you want to ask... But yes.. Jack is my mate’’ he said and I nodded. ‘’Didn’t expect me to be gay?’’ he asked and I shook my head. ‘’No.. not at all.. But I am glad you found your mate!’’ I said and I was indeed happy for him he had found his mate. ‘’All though.. I must admit I had expected Evan to have a male mate earlier than you’’ I said honestly. Dylan laughed and Evan looked at me shocked. ‘’Eeww.. No..’’ He said and then quickly looked at Dylan. ‘’Not that I think you are eeww.. But just the idea.. you know what I mean right?’’ He asked and Jack chuckled. ‘’We understand, it is alright’’ he said and gave Dylan a kiss on his cheek.

‘’Say.. Ashley.. Weren’t you supposed to meet with Regina ten minutes ago?’’ Uncle Charlie suddenly asked and I looked at the time. ‘’Shoot!’’ I said and quickly got up. ‘’Go ahead, I’ll clean up for you’’ Evan said and I nodded. ‘’Super, thanks!’’ I said and quickly put on my shoes and grabbed my bag. Ever since I was younger I babysat the Alpha’s daughter but now that she was older, I also became her tutor. I was seven years older than her and she was a feisty little lady from eleven years old. I quickly took a shortcut through the bushes and jumped over one, surprised I actually made it. ‘’Of course you can make that silly.. Before you only had a little advantage on the normal humans but now I can help you with everything ‘’ Daciana’s voice sounded in my head and I smiled. ‘’Thank you Daci.. You are awesome’’ I said and quickly walked up the steps towards the pack house. ‘’I know but thanks’’ She answered and I walked into the kitchen.

‘’Ah, there you are!’’ Gina, my shortcut for Regina’s name, said and I smiled. ‘’Well hello miss Williams, are you ready for some brain breaking math?’’ I asked and the smile disappeared from Gina’s face. ‘’I thought we were gonna bake cookies’’ She said and I nodded. ‘’Yes, but we are going to do the calculating out of our head’’ I said and she still sighed. ‘’Alright..’’ she said and I grabbed the recipe. ‘’This is for ten cookies... We will need fifty’’ I said and she nodded. I gave her the recipe, a different paper and a  pen so she could calculate it.

While she was calculating how much we needed, I started with getting the ingredient and placed them on the counter. I heated up the oven and looked at how far she was. ‘’Almost done?’’ I asked after almost twenty minutes and Regina nodded. ‘’Yes, I think I am’’ she said and handed me the paper after writing down the last solution. I checked the numbers and chuckled. ‘’With that much water the dough will more be a batter sweety.. Try that one again’’ I said and gave her a new paper with only the calculation of the water. She started with it right away and I started with putting the things together I already could do. Regina came back with it just in time and I checked it. ‘’Good job, now get me that much water please’’ I said as I had started kneading everything together. She came back and slowly poured the water in the bowl while I kept kneading.

‘’So.. Did you meet your wolf already?’’ Regina asked while I was kneading. ‘’Yes I did.. She has a great personality..’’ I said and Regina smiled. ‘’Just like you then!’’ She said. I heard Daci protest and chuckled. ‘’She thinks she is greater’’ I said and motioned Regina to pour the last water in. ‘’I don’t think so, I bet you are greater.. You’ve thought me everything I know!’’ Regina said. ‘’No no.. I didn’t teach you to talk or to walk, that were your parents’’ I said. ‘’Well okay but you stick with me even after all those tantrums you keep reminding me about..’’ Regina said. ‘’I know, you are my little bestie’’ I said and she chuckled. ‘’I am your future Alpha’’ Regina then said proud and I laughed. ‘’Maybe I find a different pack, the one from my mate and maybe he is a Alpha too’’ I said. The red haired girl suddenly looked a little sad. ‘’I won’t allow you to leave me..’’ She said and I gave her a hug, even though my hands were still full of dough. She hugged me back and looked at me. ‘’I promise, no matter where I go.. We will always be friends and if I become a Alpha or Luna... I’ll make my mate become allies with you’’ I said and she smiled. ‘’Pinkie swear?’’ Regina said and held up her pinkie. I hooked mine around her and we shook hands that way. ‘’I Pinkie swear’’ I said and then went back to the bowl with dough. ‘’Ready to roll it out?’’ I asked and Regina went to grab the cookie cutters. ‘’Ready!’’ She said and I rolled out the dough and she started to cut the cookies.

A hour later the cookies were finished and cooled down a bit, we took them to the training group who had just finished. ‘’Hey Dylan’’ I said as I walked towards him with the basket of cookies. ‘’How did they do it?’’ I asked and he smiled. ‘’Good enough for a cookie.. But only because I want one too’’ he said and I chuckled. ‘’Well, Then I hope they taste good’’ I said and gave him the first cookie. I let Regina walk through the group and give everyone a cookie. ‘’So, did you play Catch the Rogue?’’ I asked and Dylan shook his head. ‘’No.. We did two rounds of border patrol’’ He said and took a bite of the chocolate chip cookie. I nodded and then looked at his face, he smiled while eating the cookie. ‘’Regina, you did a good job’’ I said and she smiled happy. ‘’Let’s go.. I want to give a few cookies to my aunt and your parents too’’ I said and Regina quickly followed me.

‘’Bye Birthday girl!’’ Dylan yelled after me and I couldn’t help but to give him ‘the finger’. ‘’Ew No! I have my mate for that you know’’ Dylan said and I laughed. ‘’See you at dinner!’’ I said and then walked with Regina towards the building that was connected to the pack house. As we walked inside, we could smell the standard hospital smell. It kinda gave me the creeps especially because I never really liked doctors. I quickly walked towards the midwifery ward and saw a few she-wolves sitting in the waiting room. ‘’Congrats’’ I said to them all and they smiled. ‘’Thank you’’ one responded and I smiled. I knocked on the door of my aunt. ‘’Who is it?’’ she asked. ‘’Your most favorite nieces’’ I said in a playful tone. ‘’Come on in’’ She answered with a chuckle.

We walked into the office and I held up the basket. ‘’We made cookies so I thought we bring some for you and then we will go see the Alpha and Luna’’ I said and she smiled. ‘’Well I just took a break so come on here with those cookies’’ aunt Charlene said. Her slim and muscular body didn’t show how much she loved eating sweets and cookies. A perk of being a wolf I guessed. ‘’Yes it is a perk’’ Daciana suddenly said to me and I chuckled a bit. I was still getting used to having someone answer my thoughts. ‘’Your wolf answered your question?’’ Aunt Char asked and I nodded. ‘’Yeah that took me a while to get used to..’’ she said and I smiled. ‘’They taste good, you used the math way again?’’ she asked. ‘’Yes, she made me calculate for fifty cookies!’’ Regina said and we all laughed. ‘’Well, we are on our way again’’ I said and she nodded. ‘’Can you leave a few in the waiting room?’’ She asked and I looked at the amount and nodded. ‘’Sure, I’ll leave a few’’ I said and then walked out the office. There was a little kitchen for tea and coffee in the waiting room and I got a plate there, put some cookies on it and placed it on the little table with the magazines. ‘’Ooh, thank you Ashley’’ one of the she-wolves said and I gave her a smile.

Regina and I went to see her father and mother, handed the cookies and of course they asked about my wolf and if I was ready for tonight. I admitted that I rather would stay with Regina to babysit her during the night but they said they had it covered and I knew I had no other choice. Tonight would be my first shift and I was a little nervous about it. ‘’That is very normal.. I don’t know a human who isn’t nervous.. But don’t let the nerves take over, then it will take a much longer time that you will need’’ Daci said. Luna Isla told me to leave Regina with her so I could do something for myself on my birthday and I thanked her. Not that I minded hanging with her, Regina was maybe only eleven years old now but she sure was a lot more fun than most girls my age. Most of them only cared about their appearance and finding their mate.

I went back to aunt Charlene first yet when I got there, she was busy so I sat down next to Jack. ‘’You have shifted with the pack before.. How does that go?’’ I asked. Jack chuckled and looked at me. ‘’It is quite easy.. Often the pack goes in little groups.. Families together, good friends.. People you are not ashamed with to be naked around.. Unless you have a infinity amount of clothes or underwear’’ he said with a smile. ‘’Then you shift and often you run together for a while or you join other small groups and run together.. Some even play tag together’’ Jack explained and when a pregnant female walked up to him he quickly put the new information in the computer and made a new appointment. I nodded and smiled. ‘’Okay.. And further?’’ I asked. ‘’Not much actually.. It takes a few hours, some are done after one hour others stay wolf several hours.. Eventually you turn back and go home’’ Jack said and he turned to me. ‘’Already smelled someone very delicious by the way?’’ he asked and I knew what he meant. ‘’No, I have not found my mate yet.. I don’t think he is in our pack’’ I said and Jack nodded. ‘’We will see, part of the pack is away now of course’’ he said.

Around 6:00 pm aunt Charlene was done for that day and walked to the desk of Jack. ‘’You were going with us tonight right?’’ she asked and Jack chuckled. ‘’I guess I have no choice’’ he said and we all laughed a bit. ‘’Well come on, it’s time’’ She said and we went home together. Aunt Charlene and I started on making dinner while Jack, Dylan and Evan were playing games on the dining table. Around the time uncle Charlie came home from his duties, we just set the table and I was about to fill them up. ‘’Welcome home dad’’ Evan said and uncle Charlie smiled. ‘’Thanks son.. How is our newest wolf?’’ he asked and looked at me. ‘’Hungry and a bit nervous.. But I’ll be alright’’ I said and he laughed. ‘’Then we shall hurry and sit down so you don’t have too wait long’’ he said. I sat down after I gave everyone their dinner and started eating myself. Tonight we were gonna change.. At least I wouldn’t be alone and that gave me a good feeling.
