Chapter 10

*Ashley P.O.V.*

The next few days I healed from my shift pain and did not much on training. When I was out of the house and walking around, pack members made room for me, nodded their head and held it down until I passed by or even opened doors. It was funny but sometimes a little annoying. Right now I was on my way to meet Regina and Evan in the kitchen so we could go on a pick nick with the three of us. I walked into the pack house and again some of wolfs bowed their heads and I sighed. ‘’Please just be the normal you okay?’’ I asked with a raised eyebrow and they looked up. ‘’But.. You are a alpha.. We should show respect’’ One of the three said and I nodded. ‘’I am just Ashley.. The same Ashley you used to train with and probably dislike because I was outsmarting you most of the time’’ I said with a smiled. ‘’Eh.. Okay’’ The same one said and then I went on my way. Before walking into the kitchen I turned around and said: ‘’Spread the word boys, no more bowing heads or I’ll be kicking butts!’’. They chuckled and that made my day again.

I turned around and walked into the kitchen. There I was bumped into and a pair of arms wrapped around me. ‘’Ashley!’’ Regina said with a big smile and I smiled back. ‘’Hey little red monster of mine’’ I said and she made a soft growl. ‘’I’m not a monster’’ she said and I laughed. ‘’No that is true, you’re my diva wolf’’ I said which made her growl even more and I laughed more. ‘’You are so mean!’’ She said and I chuckled. ‘’That is why I am your big sister’’ I said and she sighed. ‘’That is true.. But I was right... Remember?’’ she said and I frowned for a moment. ‘’When I said you are like me.. You are also a alpha’s daughter’’ she said and now I remembered what she meant. ‘’True, you were right.. Now lets get to grabbing our pick nick’’ I said and I didn’t feel like talking about it.  ‘Hey Evan, get your butt over here, you were going on a pick nick with me and Regina Remember? ‘  I mind linked Evan while grabbing the basket and a blanket. Regina had placed bottles with water and lemonade on the counter and was now raiding the snack cabinet. ‘’Hey not only junk food miss’’ I said and put back almost ten packages with cookies. ‘’We are also make sandwiches’’ I said and she looked at me. ‘’Will Evan make them? His are amazing!’’ she said and I chuckled.

‘’That is indeed my planning’’ Evan said as he walked in and Regina giggled. I believe she secretly had a crush on him or something but then again who hadn’t? Except for me. I was immune to the charms of the Moore Brothers because both of them always have girls swirl around them as if they are very pretty flowers or something. ‘’And I did remember that we were going to pick nick Ash’’ Evan said with a smile and I chuckled. ‘’Well I just had to check it because if you start working, you tend to lose track of time’’ I said with a soft chuckle. Evan quickly made three sandwiches made from baguette, cheese, chicken, lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Regina helped him and I packed the rest of the snacks into the basket. When we were all done, we walked out of the kitchen and were almost at the front door when suddenly: ‘’Ashley, do you have time for me?’’. I turned around and saw my alpha.. Well, I mean the alpha of the pack stand on the stairs, together with his Luna. ‘’Eh well, we were about to go on a pick nick, can it wait till after?’’ I asked and smiled softly. ‘’It is urgent to be honest’’ he said and I could hear in his voice that he wanted to talk about something important. I looked at Regina and Evan and smiled. ‘’I’ll join you two after I’ve talked with our alpha. Okay?’’ I asked and they nodded. ‘’Alright, be nice for him okay’’ Evan said with a chuckle and I walked up towards the stairs.

I followed George and Isla upstairs to the alpha’s office. We entered the office and I closed the door behind me. I saw how they sat down and it felt so weird to be here while I know I did nothing wrong. ‘’So Ashley.. How are you doing?’’ George asked and I nodded. ‘’I’m doing fine.. And you?’’ I asked and he smiled. ‘’I’m good’’ he said and I smiled back. ‘’Good to hear.. all though I must say I do feel sore more easily still. Does that feeling stay long?’’ I asked. ‘’No, it will fade away with two or three days’’ Isla said and I felt happy to hear that. ‘’So eh.. Why am I here?’’ I asked and looked around a little. I didn’t feel nervous though normally I would have. ‘’That is because you now know you are a alpha’’ Daci said in my head and I understood. ‘’So how are you now you know where you actually come from?’’ George asked and he was very careful while asking this. I looked at him with a little confusion. ‘’Well.. I am just me. It does explain a few things but I am okay why do you ask?’’ I asked and he smiled slightly. ‘’Well, you are now a alpha of course.. and’’ he said but I held my hand up. He actually went silent and I was surprised. Isla chuckled from this and smiled at me. ‘’Alpha George.. I may be a alpha... And yes, I am going to steal Evan from your pack but then again it isn’t stealing because he actually joined me already when I was just an infant’’ I said and he nodded slowly. ‘’As for the other wolves of your pack, it is your pack and I am not going to take away wolves from you.. If they want to join me, I am okay with it... And if you feel like I should start looking for my own territory, I understand and am okay with that too. But I would not deliberately ask your pack members to join me..’’ I said and he nodded. ‘’You sure are a born alpha, because I normally never go quiet when someone puts their hand in the air’’ he said and I smiled. ‘’If you don’t mind, I am going to join in on the pick nick going on on the grass field.. Before my sandwich is eaten by Gina’’ I say and get up. ‘’That is okay.. Thank you for the clarification..’’ George said and I walked up to the door.

At the door I turn around and look at them. ‘’I do have one request though.. The territory of my parents pack isn’t far away from here.. Can you tell me which pack is living there now, how to get there and well.. How much wolves they have?’’ I asked. I could see that George had a hard time deciding about this and I understood. After all, if I would make a move on that pack, it could get nasty for this pack too. ‘’I’ll provide you with that information...’’ Isla said and looked at her husband. ‘’But if you plan anything, I want you to tell us about it so we can decide if we will back you up or not...’’ she said and I nodded. ‘’I promise that I’ll inform you’’ I said and then walked out of the office. I went downstairs and got to where Evan and Regina were having our pick nick. When I turned around the corner, I was surprised to see Dylan and Jack also being there.

I quickly walked over and sat down next to Evan. ‘’Well hello there’’ I said and they smiled. ‘’Hey Ash, how are you doing?’’ Dylan asked, he smiled almost charmingly and I didn’t know what to think of it. ‘’Still a little sore.. Why?’’ I asked and I looked at him sideways. I opened the basket and saw my sandwich intact. ‘’They wanted to touch it but I told Dylan if he wants to be my beta, he better be nice to you’’ Regina said and I laughed. ‘’Outsmarted by a eleven year old girl’’ I said while laughing and I took a bite from my sandwich. ‘’So.. Alpha Ash, I was thinking’’ Dylan said while putting a grape in my mouth. ‘’Now that you are eighteen, you might want to join us on clubbing night’’ He said casual. I ate and thought about it for a while. I looked at Evan and he smiled. ‘’It is fun to go..’’ Evan mind linked to me. ‘’Okay.. Well maybe it is a fun distraction’’ I mind linked back and smiled. ‘’Alright, I’ll go with you’’ I said and after three more bites I gave my sandwich to Dylan because I knew he wanted it. ‘’Alright, we will go after dinner.. Make sure you eat extra so you can drink a lot.. Because girl, you go home wasted or you won’t go home at all’’ Dylan said and that was the first time I actually saw him with a gay side. I chuckled from his reaction and nodded. ‘’I’ll eat as much as I can’’ I said and then Dylan got up. ‘’Well, I am off to work.. After I stole another kiss from my mate’’ He said and helped Jack up. They kissed right in front of us and I chuckled. Regina was surprised to see this and put her hands in front of her eyes. Yet I also saw how she peeked through it.

That day went on smoothly, we continued our pick nick with the three of us and we played a game of catch. Regina asked me if I could shift at will already and I asked Daci about that. She said that I could but I told Regina that I was not feeling good enough already. She was a little sad but happy when I said that once I felt completely fit again, I would show her my wolf. After we were done with playing, Evan had to return to his duties and I was alone with Regina. ‘’So.. You have sand color with a darker color?’’ Regina asked as we walked through the garden. ‘’Yes, and very green eyes, just like my eyes now’’ I said. ‘’And the name of your wolf?’’ she asked. ‘’Well, it isn’t common to tell someone your name so.. If I do, then you have to swear that you will from now on be my little sister and we will never break our bond’’ I said and she chuckled. ‘’I promise!’’ She said eagerly. ‘’Alright..’’ I said and bend towards her. I whispered in her ear: ‘’The name of my wolf is Daciana, but I call her Daci’’. ‘’That is such a cool name!’’ she exclaimed and jumped up and down. ‘’I hope my wolf will have just a name as cool as hers!’’ She said. I laughed and even Daciana laughed inside my head from her reaction.

Regina and I hung out together a little longer and I helped her a little with her homework. Before I knew it, it was already time to go home and so I walked down the stairs of the pack house. While on the stairs, I passed a three girls that in my book would be written down as: bimbo. They started to whisper and too bad for them, I could hear exactly what they said.

‘’Look, that is Ashley..’’  number one said. ‘’Didn’t she shift for the first time last full moon’’ number two said. ‘’Yeah, I heard she actually is a alpha born.. but without a pack she is just a rogue isn’t she?’’ number three said. ‘’Yeah.. Anyone can claim they are alpha or have a pack but as long as it isn’t shown, then I don’t believe her..’’ number two reacted. It slowly started to annoy me but I tried to stay calm. ‘’Yeah, She just wants attention’’ number one said and that made my blood boil. I was about to turn around when in the corner of my eye I saw Isla stand at the top of the stairs. ‘’You three, apologize for what you just said, you might not have thought about it but we even could hear your gossips at the end of the hallway on the second floor. So I am sure Ashley heard them too, since she only stands a few feet away from you’’ She said and walked down. They looked a little surprised and then looked at me, clearly they had thought I had kept on walking but I hadn’t. ‘’We.. We are sorry’’ They said at the same time and I chuckled softly and Isla’s interruption had helped me calm down a bit.. ‘’Thank you.. I guess but please... Go on... Because you see.. Your gossips make me famous.. And you three just a pair of gossiping lowlifes that have more interest in other’s life than fixing your own’’ I said and then walked the last steps down.

‘’Thank you Luna.’’ I mind linked Isla while on my way out of the pack house. ‘’You are most welcome Alpha Ashley’’ She mind linked back. It was still weird when people called me Alpha. It was not often that a female got the title of alpha, most of the time when a alpha got a daughter, they would teach them how to be a luna. Only since a few years it is that she-wolves started to stand up for their rights to be called a alpha. I walked over the grass to the house of my aunt and uncle, my home and the place I grew up in. I smiled when I saw that my aunt had the door open, I could hear the music play. Even though it was October, the weather was soft. I walked into the house that I call my family home.

‘’I’m home!’’ I said and walked into the kitchen. I saw my aunt and uncle sit at the table with picture books. I sat down next to them and looked at the pictures. ‘’Hey sweety’’ aunt Charlene said and smiled warmly. Uncle Charlie looked at me and showed me a picture. It was Dylan and Evan sitting in the sand building a sand castle. I took the picture in my hands and took a good look at it. ‘’Can you believe they were so cute?’’ aunt Charlene said as she saw me look at the picture. ‘’No.. I can’t’’ I said with a smile and then gave the picture back. ‘’What are we gonna eat?’’ I asked and aunt Charlene looked at the clock. ‘’Oh shoot.. I forgot the time’’ she said. ‘’I’ll order pizza sweety, its okay’’ uncle Charlie said.They truly were a cute couple and I could only wish for my mate to be as sweet as my uncle is. I smiled and got up. ‘’Mind link me when the pizza is here.. I am going for a run’’ I said and went outside.

I went for a normal human run because I didn’t feel good enough yet to shift again. Even though I did feel like shifting very much. ‘’Is that normal? That I really want to shift again?’’ I asked Daciana and she nodded. ‘’Yes, it is very normal that you want to explore more of the world in your wolf form... Remember watching that documentary about wolves with Evan?’’ She explained and asked. ‘’I do.. Do you refer to the part where they said that pups can be very eager to explore the world and sometimes get in trouble for that?’’ I asked. I was running in a circle through the forest and sometimes used a tree to jump again and get to another tree. Wolves were very good at free-running. But only because we had a advantage. ‘’Yes, that part I wanted to refer too’’ Daciana said and I could feel she enjoyed the running as much as I did. ‘’Alright.. So I am a alpha ánd a puppy?’’ I asked and she started to laugh. ‘’That is a weird combination but yes.. Are you getting used to being a alpha already?’’ Daci asked and I stopped running to stretch my body a bit. ‘’Yes and No.. I am used to people looking at me with weird looks, especially because I never cared about others opinion.. But it is weird some people call me Alpha Ashley.. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t... Just as that I don’t know what I have to do now.. My former pack is gone.. Or at least I think..’’ I said to her and suddenly a tear fell from my cheek. Stupid emotions, stupid wolf sense and especially stupid heightening in my emotions.

While the tears rolled uncontrollably over my tears, Daciana whimpered in my head. I didn’t especially feel bad about my true pack. I felt angry and sad, grief and desolated. I sighed and started running again. It helped me focus on the fact that I was going to have a lot of fun with my cousins and Jack. I dried my tears and took a deep breath. It was okay to feel bad about the past but as uncle Charlie always said: Never let the past blind you for your future. I ran two more laps when I received the mind link that dinner was about to be served so I made a sprint towards the house and there I quickly washed my hands and then sat down in the living room.

Evan let himself fall on the couch next to me, this made me launch a little up in the air but we laughed about it. Dylan and Jack sat on the ground against the pillows all snugly and cozy. My aunt and uncle joined us and there stood a large pile of pizza boxes in the middle. Probably from each pizza there was two especially because we needed it. ‘’Dig in people.. I bet you four have big plans for tonight so you need to eat well’’ my aunt said and she didn’t have to say that twice. Dylan grabbed the first box and I grabbed the second one. We all started eating and enjoyed the pizza very much, especially because we didn’t do this often. Aunt Charlene likes to cook. ‘’So.. Which club are we going too? One with humans or only wolves?’’ I asked in between bites. Pizza made us all forget our manners.

‘’We are going to the wolves club of course.. Dancing with humans is not funny when you want to get drunk’’ Dylan said and shoved another piece of pizza my way. ‘’Eat well or else you are going to regret going with us..’’ he said. ‘’Who is going to be the sober driver?’’ aunt Charlene suddenly asked and we all looked up. ‘’Not decided yet but maybe Evan?’’ Dylan said and looked at his brother. ‘’Yeah I am fine with that’’ Evan said and I knew he wasn’t much of a drinker. ‘’That’s settled then!’’ Dylan said happy and grabbed a pizza piece away right before his father. Like I said: No manners with pizza. I laughed at the face my uncle gave him and enjoyed the moment before we were going to the club.
