After Austin comforted me I went back to my room. When Ruth saw me she noticed that I had been crying. “Jez.” She hugged me. “What happened?”
Her scent was therapeutic. “I called my Dad…” I exhaled. “I heard his voice and I couldn’t stop crying.” Even thinking about it now made me want to break down. My feelings caught me off guard. Hearing his voice was so much more emotional than I was ready for.
