Chapter 15
Elena Adams
~•~
After I was done talking to my friend, I went outside my room to find my mom. I wanted to talk to her about something.
She wasn’t at the fountain anymore, so I figured she would be in her room or something.
She had shown me her room earlier and asked me to come if I ever needed anything.
But just as I got close to the door, I heard s*x sounds coming from the room. I could hear both of them moaning and instantly froze.
My mom was loud—like she didn’t have a care in the world.
A part of me wanted to turn back around and leave, but I couldn’t. I had no idea why, but I had a sudden feeling of rage flowing through me.
I hated that my mom was the one who was f*****g him. I knew it wasn’t a good idea and I needed to stay away from him, but I couldn’t control my jealousy.
It could have been me with him there. Not her.
Without thinking further, I knocked hard on the door. The sound was loud enough for them to stop whatever they were doing.
“Mom!” I yelled.
Everywhere went silent.
I was certain that they weren’t expecting anyone to interrupt their intimate moment.
A minute passed and nobody answered the door, so I hit the door again, harder and louder.
“I’m coming, Elena. Just give me a minute,” my mom finally replied.
I smiled, knowing they had stopped.
After a while, she opened the door slightly and popped her head outside. “Hey, honey… do you need anything?” she asked, her breathing heavy.
I looked into the room and saw Damien sitting on the bed. Our eyes locked and he gave me a mischievous smirk.
I shifted my attention back to my mom. “Yes, I need something.” My eyes were fixed on her scattered hair that she was struggling to arrange. “I hope I didn’t interrupt anything?”
She shook her head immediately. “No, you didn’t,” she said as she stepped out of the room and closed the door behind her. “Tell me… what do you need?”
“It’s about Lucas,” I said quietly.
Her expression turned serious. “What happened?”
“My lawyer called and said that Lucas doesn’t want to sign the divorce papers.”
“Really?”
I nodded. “Yes.”
She pressed a hand to her forehead. “Don’t worry about it, he’s going to sign the papers.”
“Okay, mom.”
I was done with what I wanted to talk to her about, but I knew that if she went back into the room, they would continue from where they stopped.
And I didn’t want that.
I couldn’t handle it.
“So, Mom. Can you show me around the house? It’s a big penthouse and I don’t want to accidentally get lost,” I pleaded, changing the topic of conversation and keeping her away from her husband.
She laughed. “Must it be now?”
I could see the desire in her eyes. I could see how badly she wanted to go back into that bedroom and take his hard c**k.
But by the time I was done wasting her time, it wasn’t going to be hard anymore.
“Yes, mom,” I replied, giving her the puppy dog eyes that had always been hard for her to ignore. “Please, I’m bored and I don’t have anything else to do.”
While we were still going back and forth, a voice echoed from behind me. “You don’t have to worry, I’ll take her on the tour and take care of her.”
Chase.
I recognized his voice.
I turned around slowly and looked at him. He was already extending his hands so I would take them and follow him.
“Yes, Chase,” my mom replied excitedly. “Chase can show you around the house.”
I stopped the frown that was about to break out on my face. Of all the times in the world, it was that moment he decided to show up.
But I couldn’t say no and insist that my mom must be the one who took me on the tour. She would get suspicious. So I had no choice but to agree.
“Fine… he can show me around.”
My mom could tell that I wasn’t pleased.
“I know you just want to spend time with me, but we’ll do it some other time, okay?” She muttered under her breath as she turned around and held the doorknob.
I faked a smile. “Sure.”
After she left, I turned around and looked at Chase. “What’s your deal?” I asked as I tried to walk past him.
But he stopped me, grabbing my waist.
I breathed.
Then I yanked his hand away from me after a few moments. “What are you doing?”
He smirked. “I’m sorry, I just wanted you to stop.”
I rolled my eyes. “Then you should’ve just said it.”
He raised his hands in mock surrender. “I’m sorry,” he apologized, but he didn’t look remorseful about it. “You said you wanted a tour of the house. Shall we?”
“No. I don’t want you to do it. I just wanted to spend time with my mom,” I lied, forcing myself to sound convincing.
“Ouch.” He clutched his heart.
I didn’t respond.
“So wait, you don’t want to go with me because I held your waist? Or is there something else?”
I exhaled sharply. “Why did you brush your leg against mine during breakfast?” I demanded, folding my arms around my chest. “Why would you do something like that?”
He pushed his hair backward. “Maybe it’s because you’re pretty and I couldn’t help myself.”
I scoffed. “I’m your step-sister. Don’t think of me in that manner.”
I knew I sounded so hypocritical, but I had to do it. Damien was already a temptation and I knew things would get messier if I made his son feel like he had the slightest chance with me.
“Yeah, I know… but we aren’t related.”
“It doesn’t matter. It’s still wrong.”
“I don’t think it’s wrong,” he said smoothly. “They’ll get divorced very soon, so it doesn’t really make it as bad as you’re making it seem.”
Oh my goodness.
Chase was something else.
