Chapter 2 The Attack On The Pack Ariah's POV The past few days have been terrifying and since I was trying to wrap my hands around the death of my father the feeling was so raw that I was not able to keep calling. His beautiful smile has been appearing in my dreams and it was like he was not gone in the first place. I had to go through the place where his body was kept to be sure that it was really true and he was gone. "My princess," I heard my maid, Elena, call but I was too tired to answer. I turned around when I saw my mother walk in and immediately I lay my eyes on her and my eyes got teary. Losing my father meant she lost her husband and the pack lost their Alpha..it was really a surreal situation. "Mother!" I called and rushed to her hurrying my face in her neck as I cried my eyes out and she consoled me telling me that it was fine that I had to be strong. "We have to send your father away…let's pay our last respects to him," my mother urged and I nodded my head knowing that it was only right that we sent him off and let him rest in peace. "Ok, mother…I just have to get some things you need first," I say and she nods her head and I turn to look at my father's cloak lying on the bed and I sigh. "I think this is going to be…" I was talking but I heard some strange noise and that raised my eyebrow. What's that noise? I wondered about hearing the faint voice echoing through the corridor but Andrea while it got clearer. "The pack is under attack!" The guards yelled rushing into the room and my actions skipped hearing those words. "What! What does he mean that the pack was under attack?" I wondered but the hurried footsteps of people in the room alerted me and I knew that it was no joke. The pack was really under attack…what was going to happen to me? What is going to happen to all of us? I panicked knowing that if the pack could be under attack and they could already penetrate the border that means they are coming for the pack house. I could hear growls of pain from outside and my body shook in fear hearing that. I never could believe that any pack could want to attack our pack. Because any clash wanted to happen between packs they usually ran it with the council but seeing how it was not mediated that means our pack offended someone who doesn't need to run his affairs with the council. A rogue Alpha? I wondered but I abandoned my thoughts. The Palace guards also dashed to attack the other men and the sound of growls and vibes cracking filled the passageway. I dashed towards the men running towards me but my movement was not swift enough as I was incapacitated immediately. "Ouch!" I groaned in pain as my back got slammed to the wall and my eyes were filled with pain as I watched the men going about breaking in but I saw Richard bursting up on them and my eyes were filled with hope which vanished as quickly as it got there. The men attacked Richard in a group catching him by surprise and he growled in pain on the floor and his other men and I shook our heads as he begged for mercy and did not want a pack to be destroyed. 'What a coward!' I cursed inwardly and I searched around for my mother amidst the chaos and I was relieved to see that she had not been just like the others. "I found Luna!" I heard a guard yelling, dragging my mother by the hair and my eyes widened in shock seeing how the man was carelessly dragging my mother. "Get your hands off her, you jerk!" I yelled trying to stand up but the man wiped me with a silver chain and that weakened me immediately. "Ariah!" My mother called as she beamed me a lazy smile with her bruised lips and my heart ached seeing how pitiful she looked and I immediately wanted to comfort her. "What did you want? You should leave my pack and.." my mother was saying but she stopped when a silver dagger perverted deep into her heart and my eyes widened seeing what just happened before my eyes and I screamed. "What are you doing!" I growled but the men didn't bother with me as they exchanged looks with themselves. I watched as my mother's body dropped dead on the floor and my eyes were blinded with tears. Immediately my mother's body dropped to the floor the armies retreated and it was like that was the only thing they were there for. "Mother!" I yelled rushing towards my mother whose body had already turned cold on the floor and I shrieked in pain not believing that I could suffer injustice like that. I was devastated knowing that whatever dagger they stabbed her with was no ordinary dagger but it was definitely poisoned which means that my mother could not survive the attack. Why does it have to be me? What did I do so wrong to suffer an injustice like that? "My princess! My princess!" I heard Elena's voice as she rushed towards me but my eyes were blurry with tears that I could not make out her face. "Ahh! What happened to Luna?" I heard her ask but I didn't answer as I hugged my mother's cold body to myself and I kept my eyes fixed into space and I felt like my world fell into an abyss. "Ahh! Is Luna dead!" Elena screamed and that got the attention of some of the guards that had fainted and they started panicking but I was not disturbed a bit about their actions. And just like that I became an orphan alone in the world…
