Chapter 1 The News That Broke Her Ariah's POV My heels clanked on the floor annoyingly as I and my maid rushed towards the outside of the mansion and shaky breaths escaped my mouth because of the race I just engaged in. "Where is, Ariah?" I heard my father's voice from outside and they quickened my steps. "I am here, father! I am here!" I yelled rushing out and I tried to catch my breath as I stared at my father's unsatisfied face. "You are late, Ariah, what were you doing in your room?" My father asked me and I rubbed my head shyly wanting to tell him that I spent a lot of time getting dressed. "Sorry Father, it's just that…" I was talking but my mother interrupted us. "Why did you even bother with her? I am sure that she is just having a hard time picking up what she wants to wear," my mother says and I chuckle seeing how the woman knows me so well. "I have really spoiled you," I heard my father say and I chuckled. Yes, that's me acting all mushy with my parents but that's the spec of being the only daughter to the Alpha of Silver Moon Pack and my father doted on me as his world and I also love my parents too because they are the best thing in my life. "Are you sure you don't want me to follow you?" I asked for the umpteenth time following my father to his car and he sighed. My father was going to his best friend, who is the Alpha of the Red Moon Pack birthday celebration and I have been trying to convince him to take me along with him but he has been resisting which is unlike him because he usually listens to me. "No, you can't go to this one," he says deadpanned and I sigh. "Why? I am sure a lot of powerful people would be there tonight and you always talk about forming connections for my social circle?" I tried to argue and my father burst into laughter. "Oh, my dear daughter! It's right what you say but today is different…there is just something different about it," he says touching my cheek and I sigh. "And I know that going on these social events is going to make you find your mate faster but tonight is just not it," he says and I cringed at the mention of mate. I already have a beloved so I wasn't looking forward to finding my mate but the talk of nay father saying that this night was different somehow gave me concern but I later brushed it off. "That's not true…the night is rather bright, too bright," I say looking at the bright moon illuminating the night. "You are just looking for an excuse not to take me along but that's fine," I say, bidding my father welfare and my mother also bade him goodbye and I watched as the car zoomed off. I didn't know why I felt worried watching the car leave and I shivered when the cold night wind hit my face. "That's enough you wouldn't want to catch a cold," my mother urged me inside and I beamed her a smile telling her that I would be going to my room. I got into my room and I immediately felt a person and when I wanted to take action the person's smell hit my nose and I smiled when he wrapped his hands around my waist. "We are going to get caught, Richard," I warned but he wasn't listening. Richard is the son of my father's Beta and he is my boyfriend which was known to him and me but secret to all.. except my maid. "No one is going to disturb…not ever again!" He said groping my breast and I tried to slam his hands off but Richard didn't let me as he smashed his lips on mine. His kiss was hungry and demanding so I felt it hard to keep on but I was surprised when Richard lifted me and dumped me on the bed raising up my skirt and I panicked. "No, we can't do it here, Richard! We can't risk the maids catching up on us!" I warned but he was like Richard was not listening as he bit my earlobe rubbing his hands down there and I felt my pants getting wet. "I do not think we are going to get caught today..and not ever!" He said and I wanted to argue but he shut me up with a kiss. Yes, my relationship with Richard was a secret from my father who is a disciplined man who values his culture and he believes that only a mate is worthy of keeping a relationship is your mate. "I will be quick," Richard said unbuckling his belt and I closed my eyes knowing he was not taking no for an answer and I just prayed that we were not caught. I heard a hurried step towards my room and since my senses were still intact I knew someone was coming towards my room and I was relieved to hear my maid's voice. I quickly pushed Richard off me and I adjusted my clothes before I asked the maid to come in while asking Richard to hide but he didn't move an inch..like he was not afraid of the repercussions of my father catching up on us. "My princess! My princess!" My maid yelled, rushing into my room and I was surprised to see Elena that disturbed knowing how cheerful she has always been. "What's going on, Elena? Is the castle on fire?" I asked not to get the reason for her panicked state. "It's the Alpha!" I heard Elena yell, and I was surprised to hear that. "What did you mean? Is he back?" I asked to jump from the bed in panic thinking that my father might actually catch me and Richard in bed if I was not home careful. "No, it's not that…the Alpha is…" Elena was talking but my mother burst into my room and interrupted her words. I panicked seeing her knowing that she was going to get angry with Richard in the room but I was surprised when I saw her with tears. "Mother, what's going on, why are you crying?" I asked and fear gripped me already feeling that something was wrong. "Your father was attacked…and he was murdered!" She yelled breaking into sobs but her words got me stiffened as I tried to process the words that I just heard. My father is dead!
