Aisha's heart was racing as she stared at the message on her phone. She couldn't believe what she was reading. Ifeanyi was not who she thought he was? What did that even mean?
She felt a wave of uncertainty wash over her, and she knew she had to talk to Ifeanyi. She couldn't keep this secret to herself, not now that she was about to marry him.
Aisha took a deep breath and walked into the living room, where Ifeanyi was watching TV. "Ifeanyi, can we talk?" she asked, trying to sound calm.
Ifeanyi looked at her, concern etched on his face. "What's wrong, my love?" he asked, getting up from the couch.
Aisha hesitated, unsure of how to bring it up. But she knew she had to be honest. "I've been getting these messages," she said, showing him the phone.
Ifeanyi's face changed, his eyes narrowing as he read the message. "Who is this?" he asked, his voice low and menacing.
Aisha shook her head. "I don't know. But they say you're not who I think you are. What does it mean?"
Ifeanyi's eyes dropped, and he took a deep breath. "Aisha, I was going to tell you," he said, his voice filled with regret. "I have a past, a past that I don't want to define me. But I swear to you, it's not what you think."
Aisha's heart was pounding in her chest. "What is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ifeanyi looked up at her, his eyes filled with pain. "I was married before," he said, the words spilling out of him like a confession. "Her name was Nneoma, and she died a year ago. I didn't tell you because it's still hard for me to talk about it."
Aisha's world was spinning. Married? Dead? She felt like she was in a nightmare, and she couldn't wake up.
"Why didn't you tell me?" she asked, her voice shaking.
Ifeanyi took a step closer, his eyes filled with tears. "I was scared, Aisha. I was scared of losing you. But I swear to you, my love for you is real. You're the one I want to spend the rest of my life with."
Aisha felt like she was torn apart, like her whole world was crumbling down. She didn't know what to do, what to say. She just knew she needed time to think.
"I need some space," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I need to process this."
Ifeanyi nodded, his eyes filled with understanding. "I'll give you all the time you need, my love," he said. "But please, just know that I love you, and I'll do anything to make this right."
Aisha turned and walked away, her heart heavy with emotions. She didn't know what the future held, but she knew she had to make a decision. Was she willing to forgive Ifeanyi and move forward, or was this the end of their love story?
As she walked out of the house, Aisha felt like she was walking into the unknown, with no clear path in sight.
