the unexpected encounter
It was a typical Monday morning in Lagos, the city that never sleeps. The sun was shining bright, casting a warm glow over the bustling streets. The air was thick with the scent of freshly baked bread and the sound of vendors calling out their daily specials. Aisha, a 25-year-old marketing executive, was on her way to work, sipping on a cup of rich, aromatic coffee and listening to her favorite Afrobeats playlist. She was lost in thought, thinking about the upcoming project she had to present to the big boss, and how she was going to convince them to greenlight her innovative idea. As she walked into the office building, she collided with a tall, dark, and handsome stranger. Her coffee went flying, and she let out a loud "Ouch!" The cup shattered on the floor, and the sound echoed through the lobby. The stranger quickly apologized and helped her pick up her scattered belongings, his hands brushing against hers as they reached for the same piece of paper. "I'm so sorry," he said, flashing a charming smile that made her heart skip a beat. "Let me get that for you." Aisha's heart was racing as she looked up at him. He was wearing a crisp white shirt and a navy blue suit, looking every bit the successful businessman he probably was. His eyes sparkled with kindness, and his smile was infectious. She felt a flutter in her chest as he handed her a tissue to clean up the spill. "It's okay, I got it," she said, trying to play it cool, but her voice betrayed her. She was surprised by how much she wanted to talk to him, to know more about him. As they stood up, their eyes met, and Aisha felt a jolt of electricity. She couldn't explain it, but something about this stranger drew her in. It was as if time had stood still, and all that mattered was the two of them in that moment. "I'm Ifeanyi, by the way," he said, extending his hand. "Aisha," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She felt a spark of excitement as his hand wrapped around hers, and she noticed the way his eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. They exchanged a few more words, and Ifeanyi asked for her phone number. Aisha hesitated for a moment, but something about him put her at ease. She handed over her phone, and he typed in his number, his fingers moving swiftly and surely across the screen. "Let's grab coffee sometime," he said, handing her phone back. "Maybe this weekend? There's a new café on the island that's supposed to be amazing." Aisha nodded, feeling a spark of excitement. She couldn't remember the last time she had felt this way about someone. As she watched him walk away, she couldn't help but notice the way his shoulders filled out his suit jacket, and the way his eyes sparkled as he turned to smile at her one last time. Little did she know, their lives were about to change forever. But for now, she just smiled, feeling a sense of possibility that she hadn't felt in a long time. As she walked to her office, Aisha couldn't shake off the feeling that this was the start of something special. She wondered what Ifeanyi was like, what he did, and what made him tick. She felt a thrill of excitement at the prospect of finding out.
