David carefully lowered the girl’s body on the ground and disposed of the syringe he used to sedate her. Good thing he had one on him just in case something didn’t go as planned. Because this was not planned. “Stop staring at me and keep moving, guys,” he urged the others to continue. This was close. If the girl had run out or even screamed, they would have two armed to the teeth and pissed-off bodyguards at their hands. “Where the hell is Shannon, wasn’t she supposed to be distracting the older one while we grab the younger?”
Adam opened the changing room’s back door and shrugged. “Sorry Dave, she just reported that one of the guards might recognize her. She couldn’t get in without raising suspicion.” He and the other man lifted the younger girl and carried her to the service hallway hidden behind the door. There was a large wheeled box parked there. Normally, it was used for moving goods around but today David and his crew were going to use it to haul their prize to the loading ramp. Which technically was still moving goods around, David smirked at the thought.
“What about this one?” Adam came back inside and softly nudged Christina’s body with the tip of his shoe.
“Grab her too.” There was something about her he couldn’t stop thinking about. The way she looked at him… Plus two hostages are always better than one, no?
“Really?” Adam raised his brow as he sized the girl and the transport box. “It’s gonna be a bit uncomfortable.”
“They are Anderson’s daughters,” David responded harshly. “Who the f**k cares if they are comfortable. Tell Shannon to get out of there, we will pick her up on the way.” As they lowered the older girl next to her sister, she wiggled a bit and clicked her tongue. If the situation was different, it would be bloody adorable. Now it just made David nervous the effect of the sedatives was going to wear off too soon. They pushed their precious cargo through the service hallways, not looking any different from other shop employees they met. Finally, it was loaded on a truck and they were on the way to their current hideout. At last, David allowed himself to feel a bit of relief. This went better than expected.
“Well, this op nearly turned into a rain of shit.” Shannon was a foul-mouthed redhead, one of his most trustworthy associates. “Sorry Dave, I think I’ve worked with the security guy before. Not sure if he wouldn’t recognize me.”
“By ‘worked’ you mean ‘f****d’?” Adam teased her but she just shrugged.
“Possibly. I remember the ops, not the f***s. Nice job on grabbing the other one too. Told ya two are better than one.”
“Yes, also twice as dangerous,” he mumbled in response.
Their base for the next few days wasn’t anything special, an old building that one company rented out to another company who rented it out to another one and another. It would take weeks to uncover the owner structure of the thing and even then nothing should point to David and his group.
The girls were still unconscious when the team moved them to the cells and David was now watching them through the surveillance system, his gaze fixed on the older one. She was pretty, which was no surprise - have you ever seen a rich person who was ugly? Money could buy anything, especially when you had as much as the Andersons did. But there was something else about her. The split-second those green eyes looked at him before the drugs forced them shut it felt like they were piercing through his soul.
David tried to shake off the strange feeling. Get it together, you i***t. This is what you’ve been working on for the past few months. Finally, he had an upper hand over Anderson and he was going to make him pay for what that scoundrel did. Besides, he was certain that once the girl opens her mouth and starts begging for her life and threatening him with the ‘my daddy is rich and powerful’ rant, any sympathies his confused brain might have for her were going to disappear quite fast.
