CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Somewhere on the road behind that sedan, Blake sped along in his truck, staying roughly close to the speed limit. He knew the men who had taken Anna wouldn’t want to draw the attention of the local or state police, so they would keep their speed down as well. Just after pulling out of the carnival, Blake had called another old friend on the police force to see if they knew anything about the murder Anna had witnessed. He explained to his friend what he knew about Anna, including her real name, and how she had been with the carnival for a couple months now working and traveling with them. He also explained how she had vanished and that he was following the ones that had taken her. At least he hoped so. His friend promised to call him back if he heard anything and they hung
