CHAPTER 13: CAPTURED

1766 Words
The situation had made Cordell sad and harming her; the girl who had seemed like a fantasy and an impossibility had made his mood sour. And in an attempt to save her he spoke into her ear and said: “I know you can hear me, and I know you have no reason to trust me. For her sake, please put her mask back on.” Just as her mask was covering her face, Cordell gently stroked her cheek with his hand. And when the other soldiers arrived, they found Cordell standing up with the alien intruder in his arms. Farisei who was well on his way back to Pirmas was the one who reactivated her mask, in his heart he knew that Muhali had planned to get captured from the beginning, but he could not help but want to go back for her. As her childhood instructor, he knew her way of thinking, and he also knew that if he went back, he could jeopardize her mission, and with this in mind he disregarded his personal feelings and he continued to make his way Pirmas. Rehsa, Varens and Kilnus could also see all that was happening. And because of Varens’ arrogance he wanted to abandon their mission so that they could rescue Muhali. Rehsa on the other hand knew the kind of person Muhali was and how she would lay down her life for her people and in light of this Rehsa would not allow the young Masters to go back on Muhali’s orders. She knew that their sudden concern for Muhali was nothing more than a show of power. They only wanted glory, Muhali’s life and safety was not even a factor in their thought process. The young Masters had traced the missing engineer whose name was Lukos to a secluded lake house in the neighbouring town to that of Antrinis facility. The house was fully shielded by Inthia technology. Even though they attempted to communicate with the inhabitants of the house, their attempts were just that-attempts. Rehsa was not a pure blood which meant that she had no abilities and therefore she could not do anything about the shield. At that time Varens remembered that there was a certain day that Muhali shared with him how to absorb energy from an object that would otherwise cause harm. After absorbing the energy of the shield, he triggered a secondary failsafe that put up three more barriers. Rehsa who had often gone with Muhali on her missions suggested that they should try to establish whether or not the individual they were looking for was in the house or not. Because Rehsa had no abilities or royal title the Young Masters disregarded her suggestion stating that she knew nothing of what she was talking about and that they had been trained adequately so she should keep her peace. Seeing the sheer arrogance of the young masters Rehsa stepped back and allowed them to solve the problem on their own. While exploring the reach of the outer shield Rehsa noticed that in certain intervals there seemed to be a light that would flicker and she decided to investigate. Upon reaching the area where the light was emanating from Rehsa could see a power rod. The rod was often used by Muhali if they were on planets that were not adequately technologically advanced. The rod would be used as a means to distribute power. It would absorb the energy of the main power source and then distribute the power to the different streams that required energy according to how much each stream would need. By doing this overloading on the various streams would be avoided. All Rehsa had to do was interrupt the power distribution to the shield in order to create an opening in the shield. After she had done this she could enter the house and shut down the shield from there. She used the back entrance to enter the house and when she exited through the front entrance. She could see the dumbfounded looks on the young masters’ faces. She did not utter a word to them because the looks on their faces were satisfactory to her. Just as Rehsa had suspected the house was just a delay tactic to keep whoever was looking for Lukos busy. While they were still inside the house they contacted Farisei to let him know that they had not yet found Lukos but they had found one of his houses. Farisei in response told them that Lukos would most likely not be in the Americas or Europe. Farisei further advised that Lukos would probably go to places where even if the Channidae did attack, they would not be able to breach. Upon learning this Rehsa started sifting through the personal belongings that were in the house. While Rehsa and the young masters were continuing with their search for Lukos, Farisei used the board Muhali charged him with to open the lines of communication with Inthia. He explained all that happened with regard to Muhali and the young Masters to Vesma who was in charge of Inthia. To his surprise Vesma only responded by saying: “…good. Everything is going as planned. Now that phase two is complete you must contact me when Varens and Kilnus return with Lukos. I must have a word with him.” Farisei could not believe how indifferent Vesma was being to the news that Muhali had been captured. Still he bowed his head and disconnected the link between Zeme and Inthia. After disconnecting Inthia, Farisei’s attention went back to Muhali. Her armour made it possible for Farisei to monitor her using her black board. The soldier whom Muhali addressed as Varetu and whom the other soldiers called Lieutenant Cordell Matthews had carried Muhali out to an armoured vehicle. Because of her armour the humans could not administer any medical treatment and neither could they touch her. She had released a slight shield that caused an electric shock to anyone who attempted to touch her. It seemed as if only Cordell was able to touch her. Muhali, Cordell and the rest of Cordell’s squad were transported to a military base in a dessert area. Since no one else besides Cordell could go near her, he was tasked with getting her off the transport truck. He was then led by some officers to an underground room with a reinforced bolted titanium door. The room also had a single bed on the far left, in the centre there was a table and two chairs and on the far right there was a thick layer bullet proof glass covering half the wall. When he looked around he could see multiple cameras. He gently put Muhali on the bed and thereafter he went to his room to wait for debriefing. When Muhali woke up she found herself sleeping on a single bed in a grey room that had a reinforced titanium bolted door. She could sense that she was being watched. She stood up and walked to the mirror that had taken up an entilre wall space on the far right of the room. She tilted her head slightly to the right like someone who was curious. She knew that they were watching her. More than that, she knew that there was a Channidae Official in the room. She could feel his contaminated energy even through the thick glass; she could feel his disdain for the humans. She could hear the commotion at the other side of the door as the humans scrambled to get the door open. She took a slow deep breath and held it in for a few seconds as a measure to take back the shield that she had put up around the room. However she did not take all of it, she just took enough so that the humans could get through the door. Once the door had been opened she went and gracefully sat on one of the chairs that was at the table. While seated she did not take her eyes off the Channidae Official for one second. The humans had been given an instruction by President Morris to not interrogate the alien until he arrived at the base. And two hours after Muhali had been awake the president arrived at the base. When he entered Muhali broke concentration with the Channidae Official long enough to take a good look at the president. Shortly after the arrival of the president a man who did not seem to be a soldier entered the room where Muhali was being kept. He seemed to be holding a rectangular device, a pen and a voice recorder. He sat at the chair opposite to her and he said: “Hello. I am told you understand English. My name is Dr Thomas Philips. "What is your name?" Muhali did not answer him; she did not even look at him. Her eyes remained fixated on the Channidae Official. “Don’t be afraid, no one is going to harm you here. We just want to talk…” the doctor continued but Muhali did not respond. “…are you hungry or thirsty? You have been on this base for eighteen hours and you were on the road for five hours. I am sure you must be hungry and thirsty. Is there anything in particular you would like to have?” said the doctor in an attempt to penetrate Muhali’s cold indifference. Despite all of the doctor’s efforts to get Muhali to say something, Muhali remained unmoved and silent. “She is baiting you. She wants something from you, otherwise she would never have allowed herself to get captured.” said the Channidae Official as he looked at President Morris. Muhali could hear everything they were saying. She decided to allow her inner child play. She released a targeted frequency sound in the room. The sound started off softly and then all of a sudden the doctor clutched on to his ears as he fell off the chair he was sitting on. As the sound got louder and louder, he screamed in excruciating agony. The general of the base quickly gave the guards instruction to remove the doctor from the room. Muhali stood up again, she walked to the mirror and her mask came off. She turned around and went back to the same chair she was sitting on. She put on a haughty smirk on her face as she gently rested the palm of her hands on the edge of the table and the tips of her fingers touched one another.
