Chapter One JUNE'S POV “Shh, keep your voice down or she’ll hear us.” A hoarse masculine voice cautioned as he peeked behind the transparent curtains to look at the woman lying in bed, seeming to be in a peaceful sleep. “How long do we have to keep this hidden?” The woman with him grumbled as she traced her fingers down his button, showing the intimate relationship between the two. “You know the plan, May.” He kissed her cheek with a bright smile before looking back at the woman who was asleep. “I want you in the shower tonight. Just keep mute while I prepare our bath.” The man walked away and using this opportunity, May walked over to the bed where I was asleep and still had a peaceful look on her face. “It’s only a matter of time before I take him from you, June. And you will be helpless, just the way your mother was helpless in her grave when my mother came in.” May chuckled, pushing her hair tenderly away from her face before heading back towards the bathroom, pulling off her dress bit by bit. The woman on the bed didn’t move but tears could be seen rolling down her eyes as the sound of people making love filled her ears from the bathroom. ‘After everything I’ve done for you, Leo. After everything I’ve done.’ She thought, trying to control herself as tears slipped through her eyelids. The sun shone brightly into the simply designed room but from the decor in the room, one could easily tell it was owned by a wealthy individual. Soft sounds could be heard from the bed as the sheets ruffled continuously till a figure sat up from the bed, her hair disheveled and her eyes red and puffy. “It wasn’t a dream.” She mumbled, looking over at her husband’s clothes which were on the bar stool located in another part of the room. “How may I help you this morning, Mrs White?” A voice came from the other side of the phone she held close to her ear. “What’s on my schedule today?” “You requested to have the day off a few weeks ago so you can celebrate your three years anniversary with Mr White today.” Her assistant answered. June was silent for a few minutes, looking in the direction of the clothes. “Tell Phoenix Entertainment that I have accepted to have a meeting with them this morning to discuss the term. Pick me up in an hour.” She didn’t wait for a reply before hanging up and getting out of the bed and stretching gently. She looked at her reflection in the mirror. “I’m done being the perfect wife you want me to be, Leonard. That was the last straw.” In front of a large skyscraper, quite a lot of people could be seen going in and out in pairs or on their own. At the very top of the skyscraper, there was a large logo of a phoenix which made the building stand out. A black car soon drove to the front of the skyscraper and one of the bodyguards walked over to pull open the door. A pair of black boots stepped out of the car. Stepping out of the car, June looked up at the tall building. “Welcome, Mrs White.” A tall male figure bowed to her with a bright smile on her face. “Mr Cha is waiting for your arrival.” The man informed her before leading June along with her assistant into the large building. It was like they had been preparing for their arrival for a very long time and they were finally arriving. “Isn’t that June?” “It is June.” “Is she signing with Phoenix entertainment now?” Those around started to whisper as they recognized the one lady everyone in the entire city wished to be close to due to her connections, beauty, character and many more attributes they sensed she possessed. June was known as the goddess of beauty in the entirety of the movie industry and Evergreen City itself. Although she was married, it was like she never aged at all. Her black hair flowed down, almost reaching her waist, her blue eyes was always filled with softness and tenderness which made people most of the time want to take advantage of her but she wasn’t that easy to sway or even easy to strike a deal with neither can one change her mind once she makes a deal, other than her husband, Leonard White. *DING The sound of the elevator stopping made her look away from the Ipad in her assistant's hand and walk out after the man leading them. They soon stopped in front of a transparent glass and on the other end, they could see someone waiting for them at the conference table. Immediately she stepped in, the man sitting stood up, a bright smile on his face also. His black hair was perfectly gelled to the back with a few strands coming forward which seemed to be on purpose. The man standing before them was the manager of Phoenix Entertainment, Chris Cha. “Mrs White. It has been a while. Please take a seat.”He pointed toward the seat which seemed to be reserved for her although the entire room was practically empty. “So you agreed to accept our request to discuss our offer to you. We know your contract with White Industry will come to an end soon.” He explained and all she did was nod, which sent chills down his spine because since all the years he had come across her, she was always sweet and friendly, but this time around, the reverse was the case. “We have spoken to the CEO, and he has agreed to pay you three times what White industry pays. Now we all know you don’t really need the money, but you get me.” June held out her hand and she was handed the contract to go through and seeing a smile on her face, Chris couldn’t help but smile inwardly. “Melanie will send back the contracts once I do what is required at White Industry.” She stood up with a bright smile before extending her hands for Cha to shake, and he quickly did as she requested. “Are you sure about this, Mrs White?” Melanie, her assistant, gulped, and they drove back towards the White mansion where she wanted to do the needful and pack some things. “Are you doubting my judgment, Melanie?” June raised her brow, making Melanie shake her head violently. “You and I know Mr Leonard, Mrs White. I’m afraid that he will do something against Phoenix because of you.” Melanie expressed her concerns and June understood her clearly. A bittersweet smile was seen on her face for a few seconds before she replied to her assistant. “You’re right, Melanie. But Phoenix Entertainment won’t sign me unless they are a rival to the White Industry, and which they are. They should also know better than anything what me leaving the Whites would do to the Whites, and Leonard will try everything in his power to bring me back, but he’s outdone it already.” June said, folding her arms across her chest as she looked outside the window at the huge mansion they were approaching. It was the mansion where she had lived with her so-called husband for three years now. Today was their anniversary, but he didn’t even care to call her or do anything while he had been ignoring her calls since the start of the day. ‘You just wait, Leonard. I will make sure you regret every bit of your actions and come groveling at my feet.’
