A Spirit with Two Names

1219 Words
Many days had passed and it's been my 13th day of stay in the Spirit Realm, different spirits came to teach me the things and train me hard, I asked each of them why do they have to bother themselves just to teach me and their answers are same as always, "Because you must!". "Hssst! Two days to go before I face the Surface Realm! I'm so excited!!" I shouted. Those previous days, the dark mist always appeared on my way to the plain but I just ignored it because I was used to it. As I arrive at the training ground, a cool looking man was waiting at me. His red hair was shining and his red eyes are fierce, it's just like he is the embodiment of fire. "Are you the one?" "Ah.. Eh.? M-me?" He didn't waste a time, his overwhelming power scorches the ground as he sets the field in flames. The fire was reshaping itself into arrows through his will, as it float into the air, the arrows started to rain at me. "Water Mirror!" I deflected his attacks but it homed back to me, "Seriously!? What the heck is that arrows??" I tried to pop one of the arrows as I ran deflecting it into another one and it created a large scale explosion in the air that cover about the entire training ground. "s**t!!! If I got caught by one of those surely I'll become a dead meat!" I used my dark flame to counter the arrow's fire power but it instantly dissolves against those things. I gathered the nitrogen on the atmosphere and created a blade through the application of malach but it was useless against those thin nuclear-like arrows. I was left with no option but to try a different method of magic casting, I gathered the malach from the nearby trees and infused my mildei on it, I channeled my dark flame by using two mediums and it grew even more darker. I launched it into the oxygen-rich area and started to reshape it into spears, "Get them! Molten Spears!" My spears absorbed the arrow that he created and he seems very happy seeing that. *Clap!*Clap! "So you're the one." He said I don't even know what he's talking about but he stared at me seriously, and unexpectedly he introduced himself, "I am Ignis declaring my secondary name, Ifrit. You are acknowledged by the Great Spirit of Fire." I was shocked at that moment, of all the mentors that I've encountered he was the only one who acknowledged me. After every training I always visit Gaia secretly to know the name of my mentor on those designated dates. It took a while for the sigil to appear on random part of my body and his mark appeared on my right palm. "It stings!" I exclaimed. "Still not used to it?" He looked at me from head to feet, "Hmm... Your body grew a lot in just a short period of time. I guess from that form your appearance will remain stagnant." "Huh? So this is my permanent form?" "Yes!" I thought about this matter before because I'm curious about the existence of Gaia, being said that she's a primordial spirit and her youthful appearance, but to know that I have such an ability despite being a half-sourced creature.. I was really glad. "You got a nice shape now, looks like that i***t trained you like hell." "Huh? Do you mean the bulky man who carries great sword?" "Yes! He was Vedarda, the muscle-head spirit. That i***t always think that everything can be solved by brute force. Hahahahaha!" Just remembering my 10th day was such a pain. It is even more hellish than what we did today, but there's a question that I wanted to ask this guy, the thing that bothered me since I was reincarnated, "How about my life span? How long will I live?" I ask as I desperately wanted to seek some answers. He scratched his head and made a serious face, he came closer and said, "I don't know." He nodded, "I haven't met someone with a case like yours.. but I met something even even far greater that the spirits, the one mortals referred to as a god." "What does he looked like? What did he tell you? What did you do?" I asked him jubilantly. He covered his left ear with his left hand and my mouth with his right hand, "So noisy!" He exclaimed, "I can't tell you the details yet, but he gave me orders. He said; When that person arrived, he who can extinguish your flames, accompany him until he reaches the peak." That statement was puzzling me and I asked him one last time, "Of all the spirits that I knew, why do you have a couple of name?" He winked at me and said, "Because that god gave me another one," he smiled, "He said that I resemble someone very dear to him.. and that I was a part of a greater whole." He turned around and left me, he said that I must go home now and cherish my remaining times in this realm. I know that it is not where I belong, neither I don't know what shall I do soon when the time comes that I need to go on the Surface Realm and leave this land for good. As I walk on my way home, I felt again the same aura that was emitted by that guy. Come to think of it, that guy was just watching me from afar. He isn't dangerous because if he wanted to harm me, he must have done it earlier when I was in a body of a little boy. "I'm home!" When I enter the house I saw Mama Pia crying and packing my things, she stared at me with her teary eyes. "My son, you only had a couple of days left," she cried, "Please take care and don't forget us." Papa came and teased Mama, "Oh come on dear! Our child was matured enough!" It was an emotional moment for us, even though we aren't related by blood or by source, they gave me enough familial love that I haven't experienced before. They are my parents from now on and no one can take them away from me. We give each other a lovely family hug, the three of us as I felt warmth inside my heart. ------- I asked them that night about the things that I wanted to be clarified. I still wonder about so many things about the Spirit Realm... "Your appearance was very different from mortals and spirits. That golden hair of yours wasn't written in the books that we spirits possess." Papa said. "Then how about that black guy?" "Spirit's hair was supposed to be white, he has a dark aura surrounding him and mysteriously appeared at the boundary a year and a half ago."he said. "How many days is a year consist of?" "I know it's about three hundred," he replied. I didn't know why I was thinking about him, maybe I'm just sad for him to be alone. A half spirit that was hated by everyone.. just who are you?
