Memories

"-Hey! Flower Boy!" Tadashi was mentally preparing for his boss. When he truly should have been preparing to deal with his complex problem. His stupidly attractive problem with golden hair, brown eyes, pale skin, and a wickedly beautiful voice which made him feel weak in the knees. "No! Why are you here!?" "Am I not allowed to be here?" Kei emerged from the alley in between The Kissin' Bar and the small clothing boutique next door like a creep. Tadashi didn't know if he wanted to punch him in the throat or beg for permission to sit on his lap. Goddess, what is happening? "I mean how? You suddenly appear from thin air and it just happens to be at the same time I'm arriving. Sounds a bit suspicious does it not?" "Are you suggesting that I may be stalking you?" "I'm not suggesting, im asking. Are you stalking me Kei?" Kei looked surprised. His smug smirk faded into a hardened stare. He scanned Tadashi up and down, his expression then quickly brightened. Tadashi got worried, he could practically see the imaginable light bulb flash above the blonde's head. "Tonight, when you get off work I will be waiting for you. Right here in this spot. Be there." Tadashi's eyes went round. He didn't know what came over him, all he could do was nod at Kei's request. The beautiful stranger smiled, and just like that. He was gone again. Tadashi furrowed his eyebrows while rubbing at the itchy red line embedded in his chest. He blinked then gaped at the place where Kei just stood. Suddenly remembering that he had a job to get to. The rest of the day goes by in a blur. Other than the slowly growing anxiety that's slithering its way through Tadashi's veins, he would say that his day is going by quite smoothly. He nervously chews on his bottom lip while his eyes stay glued to the old wall clock hanging above the staircase. Tadashi was perplexed. He didn't know what he wanted. He was so sure that he wanted nothing to do with Kei. But here he is. Anxiously waiting like a puppy for their owner to suddenly emerge from the shadows. He knew it was driving Atarah crazy. She pleaded for him to spill why he's so nervous, but he refused. He himself didn't know why he was nervous. How could he explain it to someone else? Who knows. Maybe he's nervous for nothing. After all, he knows not a single thing about Kei. He could have been lying and might not be waiting outside for him. If that's the case, Tadashi feels both a blend of relief and disappointment. Sighing for what felt like the twentieth time, he forces his attention away from the clock and turns to Atarah. "Have you ever had an Asteria?" Her shiny black high heels rhythmically click against the old floorboard. She stands directly in front of Tadashi then puts her hands on her hips. "No, can't say that I have. Why do you ask?" Tadashi glances around the room, for whatever reason he felt ashamed over the fact that he did unquestionably have one. But it didn't foresee luck like it was supposed to. Maybe something is wrong with him. Why else would he be the only one destined for tragedy? He motioned with his hand for Atarah to bend down so he could tell her in a whisper. She skeptically peers at the evident distress presented in Tadashi's face. Nonetheless, she does what he wants and bends down just enough to hear what it is he has to say. "I had one... An Asteria." "Seriously?" "Seriously." The corners of Atarah's lips turned upwards in an excited smile. She wraps her arms around Tadashi's shoulders. Gives him a tight hug, then pulls away at the speed of light. "That's awesome Yams! What fortune are you receiving?" Great, now she's all happy. Tadashi didn't want to suddenly drop a bomb on her by saying he may or may not die within the next few months. He forced a smile to appear on his lips. "Love..." "Oh~ I see Loverboy. Now you have to tell. Tell me everything." "There's really nothing to tell. I'm not even sure if I'll ever see the guy from my Asteria again." "You've already met!? Why don't you ever tell me these things!?" Her dark skin appeared to be gleaming from the yellow-tinted lighting engraved in the dim ceiling. She crossed her arms over her chest with a pout and subtly stomped her heel with an audible clack. Tadashi grinned and went back to having a hardcore staring contest with the wall clock. There weren't a lot of people here today, which was odd for a Friday night. It was odd, but Tadashi shouldn't be complaining. This was the perfect opportunity to go on break. "I'll be back." "Eh!? Where are you going at this hour?" "It's only five." "Isn't that what I said?" It felt like he was asking his mother for permission to go play like when he was younger. He remembers when he and Hinata would sneak out of the orphanage at sunset and walk fifteen minutes to the flower fields on the village outskirts. Now that he's thought about it, he misses those times. He missed his mother more than anything. He used to admire the way she hovered around the flower gardens with her gorgeous wings. They glinted like freshly polished diamonds in the sun. And they sparkled like fluffy white sand in the moonlight. Tadashi would try and try every day to make a pair of wings just as magnificent as hers grow from his back. But they never appeared as they should have. Instead, he was gifted with the ability to smell like Lilies. Flowers that his mother used to grow by the hundreds in their backyard. He's still hopeful that maybe he'll wake up one day to see a pair of wings fluttering behind his back. But until then, he'll embrace his strange ability as his mother wanted. Stepping out of The Kissin' Bar with a weary sigh. He rests his back against the cold exterior wall and closes his eyes. He listens to the billions of different sounds the planet creates. Heels clicking on the hard concrete, the wind blowing past his ears in gentle whistles. Booming laughter that erupts from within The Kissin' Bar, and... "Oh, Lily, you're here early." "It appears so." He kept his eyes sealed shut. He listened to Kei's shiny dress shoes shuffle closer. Then there was the soft rustling of clothes as Kei positioned his back against the wall next to Tadashi with barely any space left in between. "What do you want from me Kei? Why do you keep bothering me?" "Hm..." Kei quietly hummed as if thinking of a reason why. Tadashi fluttered his eyelashes, finally turning to gaze at Kei's side profile. "Hm... Does it bother you... That I'm bothering you?" "What? Are you stupid?" The blonde flashed a quick lopsided grin. He shoved his hands in his blazer pockets. Tadashi wasn't ready for when Kei turned to meet his curious stare with one of his own. Tadashi watched in awe at the reflection of the burning street light flicker in Kei's sleek rectangle glasses. It looked like Kei was glowing. How could that be? Surely he wasn't human. Was he a Fairy too? An Angel? "Your beautiful." The words fled from Tadashi's lips without warning. He slapped his hand over his mouth, his face flushing red. Though he was more shocked to see that he wasn't the only one who got flustered.
