__ "You! Come on, Elijah! Help me up with this thing!" Light in so much frustration cursed when the thing in front of him exploded as he wrongly cut the wrong wire. "Damn," frustration eats him as he sighed, Elijah enter the hideout coolly, whistling like an i***t. Out of anger, Light throw the ruined project of his to his goddam friend who looks shock. "Light! What was that?!" Elijah's eyes widened but when he sees his friend's face, he cannot help but laugh." What happened to your face, bro? You became a black charcoal.." "You i***t! I've been calling you for almost half of my life!" He shouted exaggeratedly. "Half of your life?" Elijah bursted out laughing. "Its not a joke, Elijah! Stop laughing!" But Elijah didn't budge, his friend is exaggerating. They only meet when they were fifteen and now their eighteen and yet he calls him half of his life? Seriously? He knows that Light is just frustrated, their teacher give them projects again which has something to do with robots and they partnered for that, Light wants to have high grades. He's a grade conscious! He can't even pass a day if the project given by their professor won't be done! And maybe this is the reason why Elijah still have higher grades despite being lazy, because he has Light. The greek nerd of their class while he, he's the most lazy yet the most handsome too. But despite being lazy, Elijah can surpass Light's knowledge. They are both genius, they both think in a way that no one can ever do. At their early age, both of them already knows things about handcrafts and technology. Both of them came from a wealthy family, Elijah is already alone since both of his parents died in an accident when he was fifteen and yes, that's the part where he meet Light. Light is an orphan, he was adopted by an old woman who's heart is pure and good. Both of them are living in the same house since Mimi Celestia take Elijah in too. The old woman is very good, when she found out that Elijah's parents died, she didn't think twice and let Elijah live with them. Both of them are thankful that they have Mimi Celestia in their life, without her then they will be lost. Lost in the darkness that even a single light given by the fireflies can't save them. "Can we just do that later?" Elijah ask when he calmed down a bit. Light puff a breath, looking more annoyed. "We need it--- "Next monday." And Elijah nodded his head, grinning at his friend. Light glared at him, he looks funny at his outfit. His black shirt has now cuts, messy hair and a blackened face because of the robot that is currently not in the looks now. "But--- "No more buts. Mimi wants to see us for lunch, come on. Mimi Celestia will be sad if ever we declined her offer for lunch date, we don't want that, right?" Light sigh in defeat, he don't have any choice anymore. Making Mimi Celestia upset is the last thing he would ever do. MINUTES later, they are now entering their grandma's house. "Grandma!" Light shouted, smiling as he glided towards the kitchen. "Mimi, we're home!" Elijah exclaimed happily and followed Light in the kitchen like a kid, excited for kisses and hugs from his Mimi. "Light! Elijah! Oh, I miss you two!" The sweet voice of their grandma filled their ears, both of them smiled and run towards her for a hug. They kiss their grandma's cheek as a greeting and a kiss in her hand for respecting an elder. "I thought you two aren't coming, but oh, I know you two too well. You love me so much much!" Celestia smiled happily and kiss her two grandson's forehead. "We will never let you dine alone, Mimi. And this is our date, we got busy in our classes this past few days and we're sorry for that. We'll make it up to you, we promise! Right, bro?" Elijah nudge Light's shoulder. The latter just nodded and continue hugging his grandma, Light is such a baby when it comes to Mimi Celestia, well its not odd because he lives his life being with her. Mimi Celestia took care of him, and love him with all her heart. "Okay, okay... Now, take a sit. I'll just get the foods ready." The two boys frowned at what she said. "Nah, both of us will get the foods ready and the dining too while you Mimi, will just sit there like a queen. We will serve the food and all you have to do is relax." Light look up at his grandma and smiled as he said that. He let her go and their grandma just shook her head lightly, smiling and happy. "Okay then, I love you two.." "We love you too, Mimi!" They both exclaimed. The lunch date the three shared is a blast. They talk about their whereabouts in the past few days, chuckling and happy with their lives. The two shared their newest invention, a ring that has a danger detection, it can detect danger if its already near. They both used that for protection, they manage to collect all the things they needed for that ring in a week and whole month for the making. It was pretty hard because its tiny, but both of them collide and so after a month, it was a success. They actually made that really for them, both of them have many enemies in school. Some guys hate them especially the feeling geniuses but are actually using money, paying the professor for higher grades. Buying someone's dignity can never make them higher but they can never do anything about that. Its their choice to cheat. "You, Mimi? What did you do this past few days? I heard from Mrs. Ledesma that you and her have a great time talking about plants." Their grandma's face lit up, she smiled that made their hearts melt. "Oh! Yes we did! She has many plants, I shared my new plants with her and she did the same too! We planned to make a mini garden!" She said merrily. "We'll help you with that, Mimi. Don't tire yourself so much," "Of course, I won't. Oh, wait. I have a gift for you two, you said you two needs something like an old wheel..?" Mimi Celestia's forehead crumpled a bit, she looked adorable getting puzzled by what her two grandsons going to do with a wheel. "Ah, yes! Why? Do you have that Mimi? We really need that for our new invention the next time!" Light's eyes twinkled, Elijah on the other hand rolled his eyes. "Here goes the greek nerd of inventions.." He mumbled. "What?" He ask when Light glared at him, but the latter just look away, annoyed with him. He smirk, well its true anyway. He can never deny it. "Its in the attic, come you two.." Celestia stop up and the two followed, they walk for a minute in the hallway until their grandma open a small door. The room looks tiny in the outside but actually big when they enter, it feels weird. Does magic exist anyway? Because the way the room seems small but actually big is magical. Cobwebs was all over the room, the place looks stinky and very old. "I didn't know that there's an attic here, Mimi." Looking around the place, Light said. He's face crumpled at the dust that hit his face. He scratch his nose as its getting itchy with the dust. "Well, you never ask. I just remember this too now, my late husband, your grandpa, loves being in here. He loves inventing things too.." The old woman said, she smiled as she remember her late husband. The two nodded their head, still looking around. Getting more curious about the tiny room they are in. It looks old but it seems that there's something within it but what is it? "Oh! The wheel!" Light and Elijah get back from their senses as they hear Mimi Celestia's voice. "Ah, yes. The wheel, where is it, Mimi?" Elijah ask and she pointed something in the left side, there, an old wheel is leaning in wall but that didn't caught his attention but the closet near it. It looks old too but there is something on it that keeps on pulling his curiosity, why is there a closet in the attic anyway? Elijah's forehead crumpled a bit, he walk near the closet and touch its wood. The closet is still strong, there's no sign of sudden distraction on it, it looks well despite being old. "Did this closet live for a thousands of years?" He heard Light ask beside him, they are now both curious over an old closet. "Don't open that." The two blink their eyes. "No one's allowed to open that closet, its forbidden." "Forbidden? Why, grandma?" But Celestia just smiled unknowingly. The two looks more puzzled. What's with the closet? Why is it forbidden to be opened? Is there something wrong with it? Is Mimi Celestia hiding something? Why would she hide something? Is it that bad? "Okay! Get the wheel and we'll all go out now!" She chirp happily. Light then get the wheel but Elijah stayed, staring intently at the wooden closet. "What's with you?" "Elijah! Come on, darling.." Celestia called gently, and with one last look, Elijah finally turned his back at the closet and followed the two outside. "DO you think there's a dead body inside the closet?" Elijah, one time ask. Light stared at him unbelievably. "Why would grandma hide a dead body there? Its too small!" Elijah puff a breath, scratch the side of his head and let go of the pliers his holding. "I'm so curious! Its killing me!" He clutched his chest and sighed miserably. "Aren't you, too?" He ask Light. "I am but I don't want to disobey, Mimi. If its forbidden then its forbidden." The latter then just, frown. Again, in that night, Elijah's thought was all about the closet. He keeps on asking himself why it is forbidden, why does it seem magical! Or his just being a weirdo again. Many says that he's a weirdo, he only have Light as a friend because they thought that he's thinking in a very weird way which is not wrong anyway but still, there is really something. The next day, he keeps on pursuing Light to come with him and ask Mimi about the closet. "Light! Come on, bro! Just this one!" He frustratedly said. "May I remind you that I help you court your first ever girlfriend before, I became your human messenger, a driver, a teacher, a provider, I even give you tips on how to court girls! I save your ass when you got into the principal office because of your goddam laziness! I even shared my answers with you when you just sleep for the whole class and now your saying 'just this one'? Are you kidding me Elijah?!" The latter just scowl. Are they really going to argue about this now? He just want to know more about the closet out of curiosity! And he even mentioned that he doesn't know how to court a girl, well its true but he doesn't need to punch it in his face. He's lazy so how would he know how to court a girl? In fact, between him and Light, the latter have more girlfriends than him. He's a nerd but a loverboy too and that's the reason why he always have bruises every time, Light doesn't know how to fight in hand to hand combat so its him versus those jealous exes, as always. One time, they were followed by a gang and they just run and run. Geez! Those were crazy memories! And that's the reason why the ring detector was made, so they can already hide while the danger is still far. "May I remind you too about the things I've done for you? If we're just going to argue about this thing then I bet I would really win! Ha!" He brag and clicked his neck, he smirked at Light who just glared at him, more annoyed than ever. Well, he knows its not because of what he's asking for. He bet that Light wanted to know too about the closet, he's just annoyed because they are still not done with their project because the lazy is still not helping him and got busy thinking about the forbidden closet. "Do you promise to help me with this thing?" Light ask and pointed the robot that exploded again earlier. "That's very easy!" He cheered excitedly. "Okay, let's finish this first." The greek nerd said that made his eyes wide. "W-what!?" "If we got to finish this then I'm going to come with you and we will go home, confront Mimi about the closet and we're done." The nerd said stiffly. "But--- "No buts. Now work." And in the past few days, the boys got busy with their project. They would just come home for breakfast, lunch and dinner and would eventually continue what their doing. The two made a hideout two years ago when they found out that they love inventing things, they would really love doing it at home but it would disturb their neighborhood and they don't want that. "Hold it," that earned a frown from Elijah. He looks bothered, thinking that this robot will explode again and this time, his face will be as black of a charcoal too. He doesn't really want the poor thing to explode because they've been already skipping snack time just for this! He didn't even got the chance to taste his Mimi's sandwich and that's frustrating! "Don't you dare cut the wrong wires!" He warned which made Light chuckled. "Might as well let you know how it feels when you have a black face.." The nerd tease. "Try then." He warned darkly, he hold the poor robot carefully and Light did what he have to do while Elijah choose to close his eyes. A sound of a wire being cut echoed that made their breathing hitch. "It didn't explode..?" Elijah open his eyes only to see Light in close eyes too. "It didn't?" The latter ask, assuring him if its real. "It didn't but it will if you will open your eyes." That made Light's eyes open. "Idiot." He laughed and the latter glared at him again. He look at the robot not minding about the glares and he just realized something. "Its done!" Elijah shouted excitedly. "Yeah, obviously." Light sitted in the couch and rest his head in the headrest. "No, no! What I mean is its done!" "You keep on repeating it, i***t! I know! Yeah, its done so what!?" He bursted out. "Then its time for you to come with me! We made a deal! I'm excited! Why does that closet looks important? Why is it in there and not in the room! It looks well for me, it doesn't have any damages too so why hide it in the attic? With full of cobwebs and dust? It doesn't suit there!" Between the two, Elijah is the most bubbly. "Argh! Can we just do it tommorow? I'm tired and I want to sleep!" He scowled. Elijah shrugged his shoulders," at least I know that you'll fulfill your promise." Later that night, Elijah can't sleep. And when he did, glimpse of the past is what he see. "Mama! Don't leave me here! Its scary!" The little boy cried and hold on to her mother's shirt. "Shh, baby... Mama's not going to leave you.." She hug the young boy and he calmed down. They watch a scary movie earlier and a monster was in the darkness, scaring people out. Killing them and making them suffer. That's really bad and scary too! "Always remember Elijah that even in the darkness there is beauty. That even the scariest monster needs help too, that those who lie have truths in their heart. You don't need to be scared but to believe that you can." Whenever his scared and crying, his mom would always be there for him. Singing a song for him until he fell asleep. "Are you okay? You don't look okay to me." Light stared at Elijah's face, he looks disoriented. "I dreamed about her, she's there again. Calming me down when I'm scared and crying, singing a song for me.." He inhaled deeply. "I always got curious about the song, what is it about?" Light ask, curious as ever. Maybe that's the reason why they became best of friends, both of them are always curious. "She called it the song of fireflies.." "ARE you ready?" The nerd ask, they both sighed. "You? Are you ready?" They were just outside the house, nervous as hell. They just want to ask about the closet yet here they are, asking each other if they are ready. "Well, I'm ready!" They both exclaimed. The two manage to look calm but are actually nervous when they enter the house. "Mimi, we're home!" They both walk towards the kitchen but no one welcomed them with hugs and kisses. Their grandma was nowhere to be found. "I think there's a note in the refrigerator, she always left one when she left." And Light is right. I'll be in Mrs. Ledesma's house. Elijah argued and hold the other side of the closet and Light just shook his head and did the same. "You do know that curiosity kills a cat, right?" "I do but I am not a cat and if I am then I still have eight more lives. Never underestimate a cat, Elijah." He smirked. "And if this curiosity of mine lead me to danger so be it so the next time my curiosity eats me then I already know how to declined and ignore it. Its a lesson we must learn."
